So last weekend two films were absolutely in line with my expectations and that Paw Patrol opened a bit lower than guessed at the beginning of the week was also not surprising given the very small last jump.
But Reminiscence, oh my. There I was at least 5M off. Maybe I should subtract even more for HBO Max day and date releases or pay more attention if the increases become smaller and smaller .
 

Candyman counted today at 11am EST for Friday, August 20:

Comps (both counted on Monday for Friday): Old had in the same 7 theaters 150 sold tickets
and The Conjuring 3 had 641.
The Forever Purge had on Monday for Thursday 104 sold tickets in the same 7 theaters.
On the one hand, 180 sold tickets on a Monday are pretty good. OTOH I expected a bit more and that half of the sales come from one theater (in LA) is also not convincing.
But it's just Monday and too early for guesses.
 

Shang-Chi counted today at 11am EST for Thursday, September 2:

Comps: TSS had also 10 days before its previews 838 sold tickets in the same 7 theaters, means exactly a factor of 2.0 and a preview number of 8.2M at the moment. Edit: And of course this is no day and date release so 8.2M is probably too low.
Birds of Prey had on its preview Thursday 2.085 sold tickets so Shang-Chi has 10 days to overtake it.
Probably tomorrow I will look at the Friday sales of Shang-Chi. Because TSS had bigger problems on that day I guess that comp looks (even) better.

Sold 180 seats today but 16 seats were removed as a show was mistakenly put in Cine1 category but was later corrected in Normal, so people waking up and cancelling that. Net sold were 164.

 

BW added $204K in its final 10 days, if SC manage say 70% of that pace, it will hit $162K, which will point toward $9M plus Previews for it. The first test of that will be in next 3 days. BW added 1030 admits ($12,734) in next 3 days of its run. SC should at least add 600 or ($7.6K that will however need only 550 admits).

Jacksonville weekend sales by day with comps.  It looks like the pre-sales pattern is following Old much more than the other horror comps with sales spread out over the weekend.  That being said, I'm currently expecting around 25m-27m as it seems like a good walk-up movie (not to mention last week's releases being so bad).

Definitely saw some boost over past day compared to what was seen previously. I dont have equivalent comparison for BW. But T-7 was 86.6K(1.3M). MTC1 is strong especially big markets(especially IMAX/PLF). Smaller markets and MTC2 are way weaker in comparison. I am thinking 7-8 previews at this moment.
