I was hoping that BW comp would be better, but keep in mind that BW has 3 more days of presales at this point. I guess this might underindex in Megaplex like SC did, or sales will just be more backloaded because of other movies around the corner. Still early so we'll see

T-2 days Friday(88 showings): 721(+162)/13659 in 15 theaters

Suicide Squad comp: 13.11M

T-3 days Saturday(88 showings): 283(+85)/13885 in 15 theaters

T-4 days Sunday(75 showings): 78(+38)/11521 in 15 theaters

I made some improvements to the scrapper, and it now excludes blocked seats from the count. I was already accounting for most of them manually, but there's a theater that must've recently updated some of their seat maps with blocked seats. So I wasn't accounting for it until today. That's why the increases from F-Sun don't exactly match up with yesterday. But it's not really noticeable here since it's a small amount and the movie releases tomorrow. It may be more noticeable with Dune and Eternals

T-1 days Friday(88 showings): 1045(+324)/13659 in 15 theaters

T-2 days Saturday(88 showings): 397(+114)/13885 in 15 theaters

And you haven't even mentioned Damon's horrendous mullet.  :sadno:

This film is aesthetically unappealing on top of having bleak subject matter.  At least The Revenant had breath taking scenery.

A lot of the reviews specifically say TLD is visually dazzling, especially the production design and cinematography.  I expect no less from Scott and his long time team.

Halloween Kills

TSS - 1.43x (5.86m)

Venom 2 - .484x (5.616m)

Candyman - 3.505x (6.66m)

Average - 6.05m.  I didn't really expect this to keep up pace with Venom, especially without adding a lot more shows.  I saw some chatter about certain chains doing better than others, so here's how it's doing vs the comps in specific theaters.

Last Duel

Green Knight - .372x (279k)

Old - .402x (604k)

Average - 441k.  This one hasn't changed very much throughout the week.  Not sure where others are expecting it to land, but I wouldn't be surprised with 500k

T-1 hour Halloween comps (missed the update for Venom)

TSS - 1.273x (5.22m)

Candyman - 2.68x (5.09m)

Average - 5.157m.  This looks pretty much in line with everyone else.  I'd put my prediction at 5m even for the final number

T-1 hour Last Duel comps

Average - 409k.  I'll bump my prediction down to 450k for this one.

Haven't paid close attention to the MTC counts, but this is a very solid way to end things. Especially because, I'll fully admit, I wasn't able to really track during the early 7PM hour, because I was busy with cooking responsibilities, so I couldn't really dedicate too much time checking sales like that. Stuff happens, what are you gonna do?

Guess I'm the one who's gonna be the skunk at the party in regards to Halloween Kills...

Did another Q&D run and now have:

Halloween Kills [Quick and Dirty]: 1427/10194

Comps:

AQP II:   2.89m

F9:         3.21m

TSS:       4.36m

V2:         3.23m

Now the good news is nearly all the comps went up.  And if Sacto is underperforming, then the TSS comp might be a good guide as it underperformed here as well.   The other piece of good news is this thing, not unexpectedly, is absolutely killing it in late night shows (well, relatively speaking).

Amusingly enough though, Regal didn't expand at all. Maybe they'll do that tomorrow, but as of right now there is this hilarity:

Cinemark locations:  933/6949

Regal locations:        245/2296

Everyone Else:            249/949

Now presuming Sacto is in fact underperforming, could see something in the 4 to 5 range.  But if it isn't underperforming, then it might be something more like 3 to 4.  Know soon enough, I suppose.

Halloween Kills [Quick and Dirty] [5:45-6:15]: 2448/10772

Comps:

AQP II: 3.6m

F9:       3.6m

TSS:     4.3m

V2:       3.6m

Comps are what they are.  But let's say Sacto is underperforming, so I'll go with 4.2m.

Re: the Revenant/Last Duel comparison, while the former was definitely not anything resembling a feel-good movie, it wasn't as alienating or as many tried to make it out to be when it came out since the "person seeks revenge for death of family/friend" storyline has been used for plenty of mainstream hits. It's easy to imagine a much schlockier version of the same exact movie (most likely with Liam Neeson in the lead).

The Last Duel, on the other hand, is about a topic that's automatically going to make plenty of people squeamish, and therefore was always going to have a hard time reaching a very broad audience, even without the current circumstances facing any movie that isn't IP-driven or aimed at a younger crowd. Who knows, maybe no movie that's clearly a byproduct of the #MeToo era is destined for financial success: Promising Young Woman also likely would've struggled to find much of an audience even if a pandemic hadn't ensnared its release.

Just guess the insane Cinemark skew regarding showtimes is putting a thumb on the scale. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Just not a lot of non-Cinemark showings here and it shows in the final totals.
