Dune comps

Venom 2 - .739x (8.57m)

F9 - .814x (5.78m)

Average - 7.17m

I don't really have anything this low for kids movies.  Addams had 39 at this point, but with 4pm start which would be 240k.

Eternals comps

BW T-17 - .718x (9.48m)

Shang-Chi hadn't even gone on sell yet and day 7 would be t-10 so I'm not sure about using that comp until a few more days have passed.

Another sub $5m opener in a row for Disney/Fox? And without an at-home option? Yikes.

And to think Cry Macho and Many Saints of Newark got a hard time with the press, lol.

Let us see how things move today with twitter reactions. Though I feel reviews will provide better boost as fanboys react to tweets and many of them already  have bought tickets looking at PS so far. it needs to accelerate to come close to BW which during the equivalent week had phenomenal sales.

Still overall PS at MTC1 is excellent.

Good days for Eternals as well. Just for record in future these numbers are T-16 morning not end of day. Almost as if T-17 end of day.

I had taken a snapshot saturday morning. So it was almost 3 days. This far ahead exact time does not matter. Closer to release I will take it EOD.

Not a big deal today, but 4-5 months from now, when I will be using search to see Eternals comp, this will show up as T-16 days number. Today is day after reaction, should be bigger than normal this far out. So just for my record keeping.

Ok. Just for today I will update evening time to see how the reactions boost look like. BW sold big when reviews came out I believe. Dont remember much about reactions.

Salt Lake City Cinemark Sugarhouse theater (non PLF), 10:00 AM Tuesday update.

Dune previews 118/212 55.6%

Friday 149/424 35%

Nice bump yesterday puts it at 200%+ of HK's preview night at the same time. Would like to see some more mid-evening showtimes added, as right now, it only has a 6:00 and 9:35 slot both Thursday and Friday. It will need those to catch up to NTTD, which was at 274 for its preview night two hours before the first showing.

Anecdotally, I'm hearing a lot more interest in this among the under-30 crowd than I did 007. One book club chose this title as their September entry and then booked tix for opening night, 22 in all.

Oh, and I should also mention that there are two private watch parties that were reserved a long time ago for preview night, and I'm assuming those are for Dune as well.

I think $40M+ is definitely in play.

I'm hearing a lot of interest among younger crowds, too... but hard to tell if much of that translates to Box Office sales or HBO Max viewership. It feels like the one big variable we can't predict right now which is making Dune tricky.
