The Box Office Buzz and Tracking Thread: Electric Boogaloo

If Sony decides on a short PS run for NWH (I hope they don’t, would screw with comps) we could have a period coming up soon with no movies being tracked by Porthos :o

Surely they were just waiting for Eternals to come out so as not to steal any of its thunder, having two Marvel movies doing presales at the same time wouldn’t have been ideal. I’d bet on the final trailer and presales in the next week or two.

They should have the trailer to attach to Ghostbusters, and I assume tickets will come along with it but it’s not assured. Presales runs have generally been shorter during the pandemic here, they could wait until like the last week of nov.

Don't have Dune or NTTD comps for T-12, but TSS went up a little to 1.48 (6.077m)

  Belfast Total   6 8 667 19 19 2.85%

I'm not sure what to make of Clifford.  It's two tickets ahead of Addams Family previews at T-2 (550k) but these are also discounted Tuesday tickets and a full day.  We should have a good idea of how its weekend will go by Friday either way.  Belfast has actually sold tickets in all six of the theaters in these locations; I feel like this one will have a pretty limited target audience, so I'll take that as a good sign.

Ghostbusters comps

TSS - 1.48x (6.08m)

NTTD - .958x (4.98m)

Dune - .75x (3.82m)

Evenings tend to taper off even more on Sunday but I think 35% drop will happen. ~ 15.7m. Still that is sufficient for staying above 70m.

That seems remarkably well spread out over the Thursday to Saturday. Anything close to a 5M preview should mean something well over 50M OW (maybe 11 to 12 X). I think the initial buzz when tickets went on sale has passed now and this 2nd stage still seems to be strong. Of course the last week is the most important and can make or break a movie but so far its doing about as well as anybody could expect.
