NTTD Early Shows

I'm seeing 414 shows in US and 45 in Canada.

US breakdown looks like...

AMC: 182

Cinemark/Century: 64
Regal: 81

Other: 87

@katnisscinnaplex how big is afterlife early shows release. It looks like around MTC1/2 around 250K today and so overall BO should be close to half a million(roughly half of Bond).

Added my counts from NTTD for comparison.  Here's what I can see for Afterlife tonight.

200 shows in US and 25 in Canada

US breakdown

AMC: 73

Cinemark/Century: 45

Regal: 35

Other: 44

So if show count = half of Bond and gross = half of Bond...  full weekend = Bond weekend?

Ok based on numbers you share I am thinking lower than half. May be 35-40%. So around 350-400K. I expect AMC/CIN ratio to be around 70%.

Yeah, what does that all translate into OW? 70% of Bond OW ~ $40m?

I should've been more specific previously, but I was using Wed+Thurs for the comps before today. So the F9 comp is taking the biggest hit. FWIW, comparing Thurs to F9 for yesterday would be 5.13M. So not as big of a drop as it seems. NTTD also had Wed showings of course, so I'm using 5.23M for the straight Thurs comp.

I held off on posting this for a bit because I didn't believe the numbers. Thought the seating maps were jacked up or something because my tracker doesn't count blocked but not sold seats. But I finally got the wits to look at other chains in the area, and they are doing very well too. So it appears to be legit. I know it's a holiday and everything, and Utah has a ton of kids and big families, but this is still pretty crazy to me after just 14 hours.

T-10 days Saturday(94 showings): 234(+75)/29854 in 14 theaters

Numbers are still doing great. Don't think I've ever gone to the movies on Thanksgiving, but apparently that's a popular thing to do here with families.

Deadline

Sony is conservatively projecting $27M-$28M for the U.S./Canadian weekend; industry rivals are seeing $30M-$35M at 4,300 theaters. Tack on an overseas launch in UK, Germany, Italy, Latin America (incl. Brazil, Mexico), Benelux, Sweden and Denmark and the global start for the movie could reach $45M. As the old adage goes, Ghostbusters is a domestic property, not overseas. Stateside previews start tomorrow at 4PM at 3,450 theaters. Sony will have all the Imax and PDFs in the pic’s opening U.S./Canada suite.

Warner Bros. has their Will Smith movie King Richard about Venus and Serena Williams’ father Richard who coached them to tennis championship stardom on Friday, while MGM/United Artist Releasing has Ridley Scott’s The House of Gucci opening on Wednesday. The difference is that King Richard is available on HBO Max in homes, the second to last movie that’s part of WarnerMedia’s day-and-date theatrical-HBO Max day-and-date 2021 strategy, while House of Gucci is on a theatrical window. The outlook for King Richard at 3,250 theaters is $10M for the 2 hour 18 minute running time feature.

Disney/Marvel’s third weekend of Eternals is eyeing a -50% decline for $13.4M in the No. 2 spot ahead of King Richard. The Chloe Zhao directed feature through yesterday stands at $121.9M. Paramount/eOne’s Clifford the Big Red Dog is estimated to be off at least -40% from its 3-day of $16.6M with just under $10M. That pic’s running total through seven days is $24M.

I put out a post complaining about Cineplex updating their site, but looks like I can get back to my original format as I had it before (thank goodness).

Still threw me off though lol

I'm going with $39M on $4.6M previews.

So we're looking at a domestic final somewhere around $160-170m?
