At this point I don't see how under $100m is possible. These Australia numbers means nothing to USA.

Totally agree

But they have correlated in the past to the US. TFA, Jurassic World, Age Of Ultron, Deadpool, etc.

Or at least given a slight idea of where it's headed because that audience demo isn't much different.

I loved the film but I'm just reporting facts. My theater was dead when I saw this so it wasn't just my showing.

There were 4 other people in the theater with me but the parking lot wasn't even as full as it was for Pirates last week. (sorry parking lot report)

WOM I think is going to help it a lot though.

What is relevant to the DOM box office? It's strong presales and it's huge hype or the OD of another country? I'm sure Australia's box office won't counting in dom BO.

Well both have been in the past. When it does line up, it's been pretty close. "Huge Hype" - see that is a term that is going to mean different things for different people. You might be hyped to see it, that doesn't mean the rest of America is. Australias audiences are a lot like Americas. That's why their numbers are usually a good indicator of where this could land.

And as far as strong presales? Certainly not tonight at my theater. Maybe for the weekend? I dunno, I haven't been following it.

It was about as busy as Ghost In The Shell if not less.

I think you're looking at US $ not AUS

Dr. Strange did $6.478m in AUS $ .  Logan did $7.8m

Thanks for clarifying, my phone died last night right after I posted this so I couldn't respond.

anyway, we'll see real numbers soon , not just our assumptions))

Yeah and like someone said earlier, I don't think they will mean much due to the NBA finals. If they come in lower then expected, people will freak out here like always though. Tomorrow will be the first real test.

If it does do 10-16 or above that range like some predict that would indicate that a lot of theaters were busier then here. I live in one of the major cities in the US but not like New York, LA, Atlanta or anything.

Huge hype:

But okay, maybe there's no huge hype, but there is strong buzz:

Well, let's not starting a boring discussing about a thing will be revealed in 3 days.

It's not boring.  If you find it so then don't read it.

??????

I won't discuss about a thing is very clear (Strong presales and strong hype for WW). That's boring and repetitive because there's many sources proving that. You should read our conversation before make any judgement.

Yeah you're not discussing, you're just trying to shut down discussion you don't want to hear.  If you don't want to hear it other opinions on the data we have or discuss it then close the  tab and read something else.

Right but I don't remember any actual Fandango articles about this movie breaking presales records like others. Maybe I just didn't see them though.

"The latest tracking figures have "Wonder Woman" hauling in about $65 million in its North American debut this week, but some think that estimate is too conservative. BoxOffice.com currently forecasts a $90 million opening and believes it could be even bigger.

"Strong social media buzz, generational awareness, and notable interest from women alongside the usual fan audience are driving our expectations beyond previously conservative levels," said Shawn Robbins, chief analyst at BoxOffice.com. "A domestic opening close to $100 million is looking more and more possible, and that may not even be the ceiling at this point." - from CNBC....if true, then damn Spiderman is going to have a really low opening if this has more hype? I don't buy that yet.

And I can't tell you how many times the actual BoxOffice.com has over predicted these films through the years.

Of course there's strong buzz, just like any other super hero movie or big genre movie. It just depends on where you go. I'm not saying it's not going to breakout, I have no idea.

All I know is that AUS has been accurate in the past so it could be an outlier.

Okay please show me the articles on Fandango where WW broke records like these. Not just "Most Anticipated Movie" because that doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things.

http://screenrant.com/suicide-squad-fandango-pre-sale-august-record/

http://pro.boxoffice.com/fandango-logan-sales-slashing-records-1-x-men-movie-presales/

I looked it up and I don't see any. And as far as buzz, again that's going to happen with every genre film, it doesn't mean much for actual data though.

Yes it is. When WW is the main big release that's opening this weekend, of course it's going to occupy those spots. I'm looking for "Strong Presales" data. Articles that say how much presales the movie actually sold not how much it's anticipated.

From this very thread and an anonymous source, we know it was at around 80% of Suicide Squad presales yesterday.
