The Box Office Buzz and Tracking Thread: Electric Boogaloo

Recommended Posts

So many indications point to that BlacKkKlansman is definitely no Detroit. As already mentioned above, it's pretty comfortable in front of Slender Man and Dog Days. I noticed the same. Since ca. one week it appears on Pulse around 3:1 compared to SL, today it's even 4:1. Of course due to the stellar reviews it could be frontloaded, no? But OTOH Detroit also had very good reivews and still stayed weaker. Just from the storyline I think BlacKkKlansman has much more appeal.

5 minutes of Pulse counting showed:

The Meg: 41 - a have the impression that's a bit slower than 2 hours ago. I should have counted then, maybe that daytime is just more popular to buy tickets. Comparisons: Skyscraper had ca. 55 but that was on the Thursday so The Meg is in front, Sicario 2 Wednesday same daytime 18, The Equalizer 2 also Wednesday and same daytime ca. 50.

Or along the way of Jurrassic - which would currently translate into a low - mid 30s opening

The trades are still insisting on an OW in the vicinity of 20m. The Meg is more or less matching (sometime even improving) Sequelizer, HT3 & Christopher Robin on your list. So according to you what would be the low end & the ceiling for The Meg's OW as of right nao??

Also, the numbers for CRA seems very strong even tho it's still 9/10 days out. Is it because there has been sneak previews of the movie all over NA?? Are there bulk purchases which is inflating the numbers or are the numbers really very promising indicating a mid-sized breakout??

Dog Days A- cinemascore should hint at good word of mouth the next two days going into the weekend.

Show Dogs also got an A- cinemascore, did 1.414 opening day Friday, and 0.30 on its first Wednesday and 0.46 on its first Monday.

This could give a range of 0.30 to 1.41 million on opening day w/ preview showings.

wish I could find Mi6 dropping locations from Fandango. seems the big ones are always fixed everywhere for 3+ weeks.

as of now, im guessing The Meg should match Mi6 with showings & capacity this weekend and ill hope to find data within the next 24 hours.
