I just got an e-mail from AMC with a bunch of new announcements for A-List and the chain:

All AMC theaters that aren't Classic branded will have reserved seating by June

Price increases for A-List will start January 9 in 15 states and Washington D.C. The price is going up to $21.95 in the following states:

Colorado

D.C.

Delaware

Florida

Georgia

Illinois

Maryland

Minnesota

Pennsylvania

Virginia

Washington

The price is going up to $23.95 in the following states:

California

Connecticut

Massachusetts

New Jersey

New York

All other states will remain $19.95. Of course, current members have prices locked in for a year.

No benefits are being removed, and more are on the way (nothing announced tho). Any future changes will be announced with 90 days notice

The minimum age to join A-List is now 16 years old vs 18. The same credit card can now be used to pay for multiple accounts.

Mobile food ordering is being expanded to NYC, Boston, Houston, Denver, LA, San Diego, and San Francisco

So the question is, is the AMC in Panama City being rebuilt as a Classic or actually modernized because there's a giant metal shebang in the lobby and it's unuseable.

Knowing how cheap and poor the city is, it'll probably be Classic 2.0.

Crazy to me that The Grinch is likely going to open lower than The Lorax (especially if you adjust for inflation). I remember being 12 years old and enamored by the marketing, but the Grinch is SUCH a popular pop culture icon that I'm shocked he can't out-open Danny DeVito as a hairy orange sentient rodent-thing.

To be fair, I think Danny DeVito playing a hairy orange sentient rodent-thing is the best hook a movie can ever have. If Disney wants Avengers 4 to open to 300 millies, they need to get Danny DeVito and make him play a hairy orange sentient rodent-thing.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot: last night on Jeopardy, there was a pop culture category, and one of the questions was about “which actress from The Crown plays Lisbeth Salander in The Girl in the Spider’s Web?” The trailer played without sound, and after someone answered Claire Foy, Alex Trebek said “and this comes out in theaters this Friday!” Sony is fucking DESPERATE :hahaha:

Nutcracker is doing robust business here (most likely thanks to a number of schools being polling places and therefore closed today) this morning/afternoon and Bohemian Rhapsody is doing pretty well too. Could be a really strong Discount Tuesday (of course, all the people going to the movies today better be voting/have already voted too).
