It wouldn't surprise me too much if critics are kinder on this one than the first just because this time they will know exactly what they're getting. You cannot possibly approach these movies with even an once of seriousness or else you might as well walk out within the first 5 minutes.

Let’s be honest, the Mamma Mia plot was always its weak point although Ol Parker seems to be getting praise for his direction and script. 

 

The Variety review does give a massive spoiler about Donna so avoid if you don’t want to know
