Just looking at the movies I've watched this year.

Spit - 75% on RT

Get Out - 99%

Logan - 92%

King Kong - 76%

Ghost in the Shell - 45%

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 - 81%

Sorry but I don't see these ratings as incredibly unfair or inaccurate.

And if these ratings are ridiculous you can still analyze the audience score or the average rating.

Rotten tomatoes isn't broken. And returning to the times where reviews were scattered everywhere is ridiculous.

Split deserves in the 90s. It was much better than everything released this year. Come on, it has a lower rating than King Kong. ridiculous.

the system is broken. it needs to be re evaluated

It would best work if as a user you could follow only critics you trust and get an average score/percentage from them.

The GA doesn't really make a list of critics that they constantly look to, except maybe Ebert before he passed away. It wouldn't be used at all

The system is stupid. The quality of a film can not be summarized by an aggregated statistic

RT also has an audience score.

Maybe studios should brag about their high audience scores in their advertising instead of trying to overhaul how the critics' scores are aggregated.

But the audience score is not available on OW.  That's the problem. You have to rely on critics. And studios need that big OW especially these days when legs are shorter

No one should believe RT is the be all, end all. It's essentially a collection of thumbs up/down. It also provides an average rating and an audience score.

It's just one of many metrics out there for movies. Others include metacritic, imdb, etc.

People will always prefer a simple YES or NO system, that's just who we are.

We're incredibly lazy

If RT disappears or changes, another will take its place. Another system which can tell you if the movie is good or not, according to whoever the hell

People ignored RT for AWE.

They ignored RT for OST.

They get tired of wasting money and pay attention to RT for POTC5 and it's RT fault the movie doesn't do well?

You burned the audience 2 to 3 times!

How stupid do you expect them to be?

Reminds of new raitings system at Netflix... Which sucks and wiped out just about all the shit I'd already rated on their former 1 through 5 scale.

RT works and it's why it's such a hit with the mainstream. The fanboys who whine about it are clueless.

What's a better system, Ethan?

Get Out got 99% and Ghost in the Shell was rotten.

Get Out is one of the biggest hits and Ghost flops.

How is this stupid? Seems like the right people were praised and rewarded.

we should have a middle. like @UNDERDOG said, the mixed reviews need to be accounted somehow.
