Rotten tomatoes isn't broken. And returning to the times where reviews were scattered everywhere is ridiculous.

Split deserves in the 90s. It was much better than everything released this year. Come on, it has a lower rating than King Kong. ridiculous.

Maybe studios should brag about their high audience scores in their advertising instead of trying to overhaul how the critics' scores are aggregated.

But the audience score is not available on OW.  That's the problem. You have to rely on critics. And studios need that big OW especially these days when legs are shorter

No one should believe RT is the be all, end all. It's essentially a collection of thumbs up/down. It also provides an average rating and an audience score. 

 

It's just one of many metrics out there for movies. Others include metacritic, imdb, etc.

They get tired of wasting money and pay attention to RT for POTC5 and it's RT fault the movie doesn't do well?

Reminds of new raitings system at Netflix... Which sucks and wiped out just about all the shit I'd already rated on their former 1 through 5 scale.

I also like how that blurb actually mentions the 82% audience score Pirates 5 had on RT... which is already down to a fairly mediocre 76%.

They are very similar and extremely correlated obviously. Doesn't really matter to me personally. They both do the job fairly well.

Personally I never felt I got "burned" on a movie even one I didn't like.
