WEEKEND THREAD | 3-DAY ESTIMATES: Pirates - 62M ; Baywatch - 18M; Alien - 10.5M (71% drop) like. F8 crosses 1B OS.

Recommended Posts

To put this into a little bit of perspective alien just dropped north of 70% on a holiday weekend which means it probably would have dropped about 75% on an on holiday weekend. Friday the 13th dropped 80% when it first came out not too far apart.

Pirates and Alien this week. Were always the two movies I was more looking forward to in may

Why? It's a good film and better than POTC. Also, you said AVP is the only Alien movie you've seen, right? You're going to get nothing out of Covenant if you haven't seen Prometheus.

historically I have never seen SH movies hold well when another one opens big. So that would be unprecedented. Plus I think it will lose many drive in theaters(double features with Pirates) as they will do WW double feature with something. It will drop hard for sure.

Deadpool held well against BvS if I remember correctly

Friday the 13th at least had the excuse in that it was boosted by having both the titular date and Valentines in it's OW, so naturally it's 2nd weekend drop was going to be massive.

Alien probably would've done a bit better if it came out in August like it was supposed to. Wouldn't have any competition.

Ant Man also held good against F4 (but that was panned).

Because I love the Pirates franchise and Alien actually had good marketing

Seriously, don't see Covenant without watching Prometheus. You might not get what you want from Alien as advertised. GOTG had shit marketing but it's a very enjoyable film.

Nonsense. What is "drop hard"?  It'll probably drop 52-55% next weekend and maybe another 50% the week after. After that it should recover nicely.

There's no doubt Wonder Woman will affect it but it's not going to crumble

BAYWATCH

Thank you for ruining my summer game.

Yes you and me both LOL Although we are lucky that alien and Baywatch were taken by almost everybody in the game to finish in the top 15.
