POTC5 HAD A NORMAL DROP AS A NEWCOMER ''Almost every big opener dropped between 37-41% on it first Wednesday this year''!! GOTG2 IS OFF 36.5% from last Wednesday, Hope it holds better on the weekend with WW conquering the theaters!!

not a great hold. Needs to play well on weekend and hold good third weekend onward to reach the decent total or 170-180

APOC was 4.285 on Wed and fell 17% on Thu. 

POTC is on 4.25 on Wed and facing WONDR previews on Thu. 

Hoping that it can manage low teens drop or better.

So far, doing better than APOC over true 4-day after lagging in previews is the only sign we have of it going above 160. Tue and Wed can't say much.

Waiting for the 2nd weekend. Hope it does 23+ in face of WONDR and can then recover. But thinking 165-170 could be the most it could do.

Bad for POTC5 but excellent hold for GOTG2 ....

WW will kill POTC5 here in the US but oversead I think POTC5 will have a DENT in WW.

That POTC5 drop doesn't look great at first glance.  

GotG2 Wed-Wed drop (-36%) is still better than AoU (-39%) CACW (-47%)  IM3 (-45%) and even TA (-37%)

If it weren't for WW around the corner I'd say 390+ target.   Let's see how hard it's hit this weekend.

 

And BatB still showing amazing late legs.  I'm thinking another 3-4M even with Blu-Ray being released next week.

Frozen made another $4M+ after already being available on DVD. BATB should have no problem getting past $505M.

I fail to see how that's a bad drop for Pirates. Not saying it's good but it's just normal anymore for openers on their first Wednesday. Not sure what some on this board are looking for when it comes to Wednesday Drops around here cause the pattern is pretty well established at this point.

6 days for POTC5 is at $387M WW and may get at $410M+ for the first week. Not bad. I see $800M+ WW happening and a POTC6 coming.

Ok drop for pirates, not good not bad. 

Given the theatre decline, King Arthur snd Alien should have bad drops this weekend. 

 

Good drop for guardians. In line with AOU. Better WoW drop than AOU, CW & IM3. 

 

Given that CW made 1.2 on same day and guardians did 1.6 and giving guardians the same drop as CW from this point onwards would take guardians to around 384-385. Seeing how it has held far better than CW till now and CW's late legs were not good means 380+ is locked regardless of how WW affects guardians. I'll guess it is heading for 390ish total (390+if it holds well against WW)

GOTG2 isn't going to lose many theaters this we (and at this point has about 500 more than IM3 and CW did which helps it's w to w drops ) but after not having much competition is finally going to be hit by WW

No Alien doesn't drop another 70%. 60% probably but without previews to inflate the weekend (although Sunday was inflated so it's a wash) it's a bit different to look at. I imagine it's cleaning out the houses that didn't play much this week but even then it's just over a quarter of its theaters % wise. Honestly expected a few more. 

 

But there are several fuggly drops on a % basis this week. Everyone is cleaning up theaters for the onslaught coming up.
