What a WONDERful Weekend | WW down only 16% on Sunday. 103M weekend. pg 226

Recommended Posts

What is everyone expecting for next weekend's openers? I honestly can't see The Mummy opening much more than the high $20M/low $30M range and It Comes at Night's marketing campaign feels too muted for it to really catch on with a mass audience.

Realistically speaking, what total worldwide gross would encourage WB to greenlight a WW sequel? I am scared... :-(

No reason to be scared. Should gross well over $500 million worldwide and that's easily enough to get a sequel. Budget was not bad at all for a tentpole in 2017.

You think so? Nolan's huge weakness imo is that he doesn't know how to write an interesting female character to save his life.

You'll learn Futurist's sarcasm soon enough;)

Speaking of this Nolan vs Jackson thing, come on there is no comparison. Jackson hasn't really proved himself after LOTR. He hasn't come up with anything of his own and his two non-LOTR jobs, KK kinda disappointed and Lovely Bones flopped hard.

How many writer-directors in hollywood right now are capable of making big hits based not only existing material, but also their own idea? We're in n an era that studios reply more and more on existing franchises, and a director that can constantly bring financial successes based on his own idea instead of consuming studios' own property? Come on how precious is that!

I know some might not like this, but the closest comparison for Nolan is actually Cameron. They both love to write their own stories and they both can constantly turn their own idea into big financial successes. There're not many writer-directors like them in the cinema history.
