Expecting great reviews but weaker box office. Deadpool 1 --> Deadpool 2 but worse because of the 3 year wait.

The thing is though Deadpool 2 was pretty much the same as Deadpool 1 in terms of humour (its main attraction) and it didn't really add anything new outside of a larger scale. It also released in a more crowded period than the first film. Wonder Woman has June to herself this time.

omg 500M here we come. it's gonna destroy everything in its path. so happy it's good

Amazing how one tweet can influence the perception. Maybe his / her opinion is diametral to your's / the majority's. Just saying.

this will dominate but the release date fucking sucks MOVE IT UP TO START OF SUMMER FOR GODS SAKE

Why are you so obsessed with this idea that the movie needs to be released around the same time as a Marvel movie? You want WB to get into another pointless game of chicken with Marvel?

Nobody is feeling movies in early June. this needs to be the center of attention.

That sentiment was the most imminent back in June 2017 and going by this year it's even more worse.

If it wasn't for Wonder Woman's run jumping into the initially supposed landmine of summer 2017 , the season would've been one of the worst.

It's not tested enough but superhero movie for ladies have a rather resilient post OW run if we go by WW and CM.

I'm saying that this movie can have enough fan pull for a bigger opening at the start of June and let the legs run through all the way to Independence Day and Labor wknd akin to the first.

I seriously don't see any valid reason this would drop from the first. 500M, baby, here we go

It has no competition. the path is clear

So many big movies had lower than expected start and ugly legs without any competition.

If we're talking about this year, that's because they were NOT GOOD.

Kinda think that might have something to do with it.

(Shazam certainly had competition, IMO so that gets discounted)

I'm not sure how WW 1984 will make less. There is literally no competition. The biggest threats are F&F9 and an untitled Pixar film. F&F9 will fail to pass 200 mil and will drop big OS (because no Dwayne Johnson). That untitled Pixar film is also likely either never going to happen or will move to November 2020.

So we've now arrived at the point where the first week of summer is a bad time to launch a film.

Okay then.

Good Time to release a film:  Last Week of April or First Week of May

Bad Time to release a film:  First week of June.

Like, what the actual fuck.
