I loved the first 2/3s of the the Wonder Woman movie, but Patty is waaaay too much a Straight Woman Feminist to handle Carol. She’s probably do something silly like give her a boyfriend. Her Steve Trevor love is so 😒🙄🔪

Good thing that Patty also gave Wonder Woman something that a billion dollars could not give Captain Marvel: a good film (93 % RT versus 78 % RT)....

Um, you do know she's done a movie about a queer woman, right?

Yeah, women having boyfriends would never happen in real life.

Yes. That is the problem with Steve. Diana is canon queer and Steve should be nothing more than a pretty face to look at. If that. The fact he is coming back is so 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄. The only time he actually worked was in the Perez run.

That isn’t exactly the first thing you think when you think about for that movie, but sure.

If you’re referring to Greg Rucka’s comments, the movie had already finished filming by that point.

I'm not sure if it's been canonically stated, but I don't think it has for the mainline DCU. Voice of God confirmation from Gail Simone (and others) that they see her as queer, but I'd have to check Greg Rucka's run again to see if there's anything that states it outright.

Some elseworlds or other media might have it exist outright, but on the whole, the big two tend to avoid anything slightly controversial like that with their main characters. Probably mostly because doing so could affect the potential to release movies in some countries. So you'll often get supporting characters and even more minor heroes who are queer, but not the major players, except in subtext. And that subtext will usually be sanded down in major media releases.

Yeah, she may have been subtly portrayed as such, or not against the idea but her main love interests have been guys, steve is one of them. Even flashpoint has put her together with Aquaman.

So to say she is more queer than straight is just not true.

This is a ridiculous comment. Both are good if not great entirely different films. WW is deeper and more refined but sad and depressing. CM is raw and needs more depth but is light-hearted and uplifting.

Patty Jenkins would have never been able to do WW if she stuck with Thor 2. Her heart was set on a Romeo and Juliet plot (Steve's character makes so much sense now) that would have ruined the next film and several tied into the universe itself. Thankfully she left and took WW to a level probably no one else could have. She will continue to develop WW in the next film reaching new heights for the franchise.

That said I understand why you said it. As for the idea that Wonder Woman is somehow ruined because she's not a lesbian, that is most ridiculous comment in this entire thread. Outrageous and just crazy, things do not need to follow the comics directly. Come on now.

So it’s settled then? Black panther is better than the dark knight??

Diana is every woman. You can see in her what you want. I have a feeling that WW84 is going to be massive. People fell in love with Diana and Steve’s story. The WW television series also showed Steve as her love interest. Moreover, Diana was the youngest Amazon on the island. She could have presumably been involved with a much older Amazon or maybe she wasn’t. Even if she were, women would have been all she was exposed to. Once she arrived in the “world of men”, she apparently was attracted to a man, who became the love of her life.. There were no relationships with women, even as shown in JL. Therefore, maybe she discovered her sexuality and prefers being a straight woman.

- Diana, Wonder Woman movie

Based on academic reading with zero interactions with men. Don't be silly.

If she's Bisexual based on her life experiences it would make sense. If she's not because of Steve that should get fine too.
