umm  Wonder Woman actually made money and the next one will make at least as much as WW1. Gal deserves a 20M paycheck

She will probably make more than that if the rumored base salary is true, I doubt anyone  ever got only 10M in a Hollywood contract.

The comparison to MI 3 makes no sense. MI2 was shit thus MI3 being a flop. Paramount was stupid to think MI3 would do as much as MI2

Wonder woman was absolutely amazing so it makes sense to speculate that the second one will make more money that the first one. 10M is too low for Gal's pay.

I don’t think its target audience was the type to rush out and see a movie on OW. I think it caught on as a novelty and became an event, and that’s where the strong legs came from. You can see the difference in results between WW and JL. The hardcore superhero fans and DC fans were there for JL. The difference was the added audience because of the novelty factor.

I think WW84 will have a bigger OW, but worse legs. I could see it grossing $375-$380M domestically, which will make it a massive success. But, I don’t think it’ll surpass WW and I don’t think everyone who went for the novelty factor of the first will view it as “their franchise” and continue to see it in theaters. I think it’ll mostly be the crowd who likes superhero movies that will see this movie.

Wonder Woman had strong legs because many of its tickets were being bought by women, older people, families and a few other groups who view movies infrequently as word of mouth spread.

I think WW 1984 will have a much larger opening weekend because of the younger crowd and a roughly equal male/female split. its legs will depend on re-watches and if old people/other infrequent movie going groups who came out for her first movie will come around a second time and watch the sequel.

I mean, Nicole Kidman is only six years older than Patrick Wilson and yet...

Estelle Getty was one year younger then Bea Arthur and well if you've seen Golden Girls..

weird since they are all supposed to be 2000 years old.

Yeah it's a fantasy movie where a woman in her early 30s can portray someone whose suppose to be thousands of years old.

backend deal on 1 billion WW 2 would net a nice sum.

Jenkins said that WB wanted to move the movie's release date up. I wonder where it would have gone. June this year seems way too crowded (and with three superhero films already releasing right before, it would have been too close). I'm guessing August?

Nah. Stick to 2020. Its in prime position to win domestic. Plus build hype through comic con this year.

No, I'm just wondering what 2019 release date WB wanted to move the movie up to.

Original plan had it for November 1st week. That is not too bad. Then they moved it to December. Once SW9 moved to december 2019 Wondy moved to summer 2020. One way is to say screw SW and release similar to Aquaman. Holidays can handle more than 1 movie. I would rather them stick to summer date while trying to focus on post and effects.

Not exactly. The movie was originally scheduled for December 2019, before Star Wars forced them to move it up to November 2019. Then, out of nowhere, they announced that they were moving the film all the way back to June 2020, which I assume was to give them more time in post production, and to avoid being released too close to Frozen 2.

I am sure the 1st date was Nov 2019. This was when Avatar has Dec 2019 date couple of years back. Let me try to get it from release date thread either in this forum or KJ.

I don’t think Avatar 2 was ever scheduled for 2019.
