Neo

Chaos Walking | Doug Liman | Tom Holland, Daisy Ridley | Lionsgate | RELEASE DATE: March 5, 2021

This is bombing hard no matter when they release it. Fandom is already pissed that cast is way older than book characters. WigGate was bad. they were doing reshoots in October already so it isn't just Febnruary/March. They are trying to run away from competition. Gonna be Mortal Engines level bomb.

I suspect you are overestimating the size of the fandom, the number of people who care about the wig and how much the GA cares about reshoots.

Of course it could still bomb, but it's way too early to say. You gotta stop shining a spotlight on such tiny samples of the audience for these things.

I agree with this. I was just thinking about ME which also didn't have sizeable fandom but didn't crossover either. In fact, change to the main character appearance was made to attract GA. It didn't happen and the movie bombed cause it didn't appeal to anyone. So while CW fandom potential backlash may not be the end, there's no guarantee that GA will care for the concept and Parker/Rey outside of their franchises.

It's a Doug Liman/Charlie Kaufman collab. Shit is gonna be insane but probably not for everyone

Actually:

"The script for this one has so far seen drafts from Charlie Kaufman, Gary Spinelli and Lindsey Beer, among others"

I also remember reading (although I can't find it, convenient :D ) Kaufman saying he didn't have much to do anymore with Chaos Walking.

Gary Spinelli wrote Tom Cruise's American Made.

Lindsey Beer wrote Sierra Burgess is a Loser.
