After all the shit Liman has gone through with execs I just wish I could pitch him a script to a movie based on one of the Final Fantasy games and watch as it ends up amazing

LOL

Fede Alvarez, the filmmaker behind thrillers Don’t Breathe and The Girl in the Spider’s Web, is working on the reshoots of Chaos Walking, Lionsgate’s high-profile sci-fi movie starring Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley.

Doug Liman, the original director, remains on board and is directing the new shoot, described as “additional photography” and currently underway in Atlanta. Lionsgate is spending upwards of $15 million on this new round of shooting, according to sources, which is lasting around three weeks.

Judging by the two movies mentioned, I think Fede Alvarez is a good fit for this actioner. He's pretty good at handling the pacing and has a consistent style and tone for his directing works.

Why get an inferior director for the reshoots? Was the initial cut that bad, or did Liman just need help and Fede was his friend?

Don't Breathe is one of the best horror movies of the past few years, eclipsed by only Suspiria, Us, and Annihilation for me.  The Girl in the Spider's Web is garbage of course but he's proven himself to be a talented director before

The story of The Girl in the Spider's Web is preposterous. But the technical aspect is fine.

Now, according to THR, it appears that Lionsgate has called in some reinforcements to help Liman conduct these reshoots, in the form of “Don’t’ Breathe” filmmaker Fede Álvarez.

The report says that the studio has brought on Álvarez as a “consultant” for the film. The filmmaker will assist Liman over the course of the reshoots, helping rewrite scenes, putting together new material, and overall, using his skills to act as support for Liman during the three-week additional photography

Principal Photography took place from August 2017 - November 2017 and now the film won't be released until 2020

Extensive reshoots start next month which had delay by complicated scheduling issues between Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley (Far From Home and Episode IX)

Tom Holland, Daisy Ridley, Doug Liman will be at the 2019 Comic Con in July to promote the film

will be shocked if they are at Comic Con
