I would love to See Tarantino do horror. The ranch scene was great  and gave glimpses of that (although it went on too long)

The ranch scene was genuniley scary, and fits in well with what we know about the Manson family..unlike the lamentable last third of the movie.

ALos think QT could do well with an out and out comedy.

And that why I get frustrated with QT ;He is hugely talented, but limits himself by his various obssesions.

Has he ever said he likes horror movies?

Then again he likes some Pixar movies but I'm pretty sure he won't do animation.

Is it normal for the rotten tomatoes score drop from like 92% to 84% from Cannes to general release?

Not incredibly unusual for a movie to drop from 92% to 84% after 300 more reviews have been added. Especially when all those early reviews came from a hyped up festival/premiere.

So did the entire theater I was in. People are just looking to bitch about something 24/7.

Yes god forbid the daughter and only living child of Bruce Lee complain about the her dead father being the punching bag comic relief in a movie. She's just bitching and moaning.

Honestly Tarantino fanboys are the worst. Shannon has been through enough but now she has to deal with opinions from people who feel they know better than her about her own father.

Downsizing reception after Venice versus other showing was quite something

https://web.archive.org/web/20170902022842/https://www.metacritic.com/movie/downsizing

84 metascore right after venice screening

https://web.archive.org/web/20170915051218/https://www.metacritic.com/movie/downsizing

74 after TIFF.

Down to 63 now.

Reminds me a little of what happened with Oliver Stone's JFK. Got rave reviews at first but when people got a chance to think about the films content rather then just be dazzled by it's style, they had second thoughts.

Have'nt  you heard? Having empathy for people is so uncool and not hip at all.

But yeah, Tarantino fanboys are pretty bad. Be critical of any aspect of a Tarantino film, they go berserk. Tarantino is God, and can do no wrong and never make a mistake.

Death Proof!?!

Death Proof was pretty much an action film, the horror elements were defiantly secondary.

And the first 40 Minutes of the film are the worst thing a film can be: Boring.

I love the way the Tarantino fanboys actually defend the film being boring.

But then if you start with the premise that a director is incapable of messing up, you end up defending a lot of stupid shit.

Why can't people accept that many parts of Tarantino movies are tongue-in-cheek, including the Bruce Lee scene? It's a Tarantino movie! Why are we suddenly concerned about going by the book and painting a character exactly how their real self was. Again, it's a QT movie, not a biopic. People should repeat this to themselves over and over again before their daily outrage routines.

As for Bruce Lee's daughter or Sharon Tate's sister, same goes for them. Sure I can see why they'd be miffed - nobody wants to see their own family members how they weren't - but they have to know they can't take a QT movie too seriously in that regard. I'm sure they'll live (but they also know their displeasure will generate headlines and drama so there's that).

Call me old fashioned, but there are somethings you probably should not be tongue in cheek about.

Tarantino fanboys are the worst: Exhibit B.
