Wonder Woman is pushing its way closer and closer to Guardians. It will pass it soon. Theoretically, if it has terrific late legs, Wonder Woman could pass Spider-Man, Civil War, and Iron Man 3, to sit in the top 5 grossing comic book films ever, or close to it.

^Run not yet complete

Spidey had a large drop in its second weekend, but it should be able to stabilize. I don't expect it to drop nearly as hard next weekend, simply because its opening weekend previews made for a significant Friday-to-Friday drop this weekend (which is the nature of these big MCU films). Its Saturday-to-Saturday and Sunday-to-Sunday drops were 52.5% and 55.5%, respectively, whereas its Friday-to-Friday drop was 73.2%.

Ah I see my complaints about the irrelevant posts and random gifs have now made way to something better, that's good. It'll be much easier reading this thread now.

Deadline has POTA at $18.5 million...that's not good.

It'll be interesting to see the demographic breakdowns for Girls Trip and see how well it appealed to a Caucasian audience.

A lot will be told by the Friday-Saturday fall since most heavily skewing African American flicks are front-loaded. Although anymore I am not sure what isn't since Thursday previews so skew the numbers.

Gonna just post this here instead of the weekend thread:

Dunkirk had a great opening. The movie is such a big screen spectacle that I think that's gonna power word-of-mouth all on its own. $150M+ should be a given and $200M+ should be in sight as well.

Also a terrific start for Girls Trip. After seeing it, I can see where the A+ CinemaScore came from. The more outrageous set pieces in the movie beg to be seen with a packed audience (FWIW, my showing was about a 60/40 black/white split, so there's no reason to think it'll play like an "urban" film).

Spider-Man and Apes fell hard with Dunkirk arriving. The Apes drop makes me sad, wish it was doing better.

Needless to say, Valerian better hope for some pretty overseas numbers.

Baby Driver is locked to hit $100M now without even a push. Awesome and well-deserved run. Wish The Big Sick were doing better but a $40M+ total is still pretty good.

Congrats to Wonder Woman becoming the biggest movie of the summer.

On the limited front, I hope Amazon's "everywhere" plan for Landline on August 4 isn't big because that is a mediocre PTA that will only get much worse upon expansion. A Ghost Story will struggle to reach $1M at this point.

With weekend estimates, Wonder Woman has passed GOTG Vol. 2 to become the 8th highest grossing live action comic book film of all time. The question now is whether it will have the late legs to pass Spider-Man (and perhaps even Civil War and Iron Man 3, to hit the top 5).

GOTG Vol. 2 is also no slouch. It will finish with close to $390M, outdoing the original by a substantive amount, which is not always easy for a sequel to do.

Spider-Man: Homecoming has joined the top 25 with this weekend's estimates, hitting nearly $252 million. The question now is how it will hold up in the coming weeks and where it will end. It looks poised to gross $300+ million.

Truly a great summer for comic book films.
