Cookie Pictures DragonBorns is pulling a The Scavenger Wars and is to become the studio's next live-action property instead of animation. Aaron Ehasz will make his live-action directing debut with the film which is still set for an October 1st release in Year 5. An official statement describes the film as a "kaiju epic set in a world once destroyed by dragons now protected by them". The production budget is estimated to be in the $180 to $200 million range and will be partially filmed in IMAX. Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica, God of War) will compose the score.

The revised cast is as follows:

Olivia Cooke

Benedict Cumberbatch*

Bex Taylor-Klaus

Chiwetel Ejiofor*

Shameik Moore

Emily Blunt*

Amiah Miller

Peter Capaldi*

Marisa Tomei

Brooklyn Prince

with

Jason Isaacs*

* Indicates voice performance

Its good to see the trend i started with using Olivia Cooke is getting bigger

With her dual Oscar noms I thought I could use a CAYOM rising star to anchor the film since the big names are all voice performances @Spagspiria @Blankments

In the fourth Spark film I’m campaigning her for Lead Voice Actress.

Going to do some changes to my round table as a result of the DB announcement (plus IRL stuff getting in the way constantly):

Spoiler

I'm moving it to Thursday (as Friday is Smash time) and making it a 50/50 focus between animation and live-action films with six films in total plus maybe one or two announcements. Then a main event detailing all of Y5 plus future line-ups will come closer to New Year's.

On December 6th, the six films showcased will be:

DragonBorns

Heart's Song

Mech Suit Heroine Rita

SkyRiders

The Eternal Storm: The Scavenger Wars Part II

Voltron: Reunion

I'm taking into account that The Game Awards are at 8:30 P.M ET on that day so it'll be definitely before that.

This is what I get for pushing back 24 Hours a year because Olivia Cooke was cast in the reworked version for 3.0 :hahaha:

So I might now find someone else

If she's the lead actress then yeah, we'd have a problem

Not the lead. Leads are Carrie Coon and Miles Teller.

Might recast anyway. Character is mid-20s. Ethnicity does not matter.

Definitely; I imagine your film targets the exact same demographic essentially lol

still sounds neat tho although it makes me v worried

I think both will survive ala Venom and Halloween did last year but on a bigger scale as one’s a fantasy tentpole and one is horror based.

It's a $200m four-quadrant tentpole with family appeal ala MCU so I think it'll be competition almost regardless.
