Jennifer Aniston to sign on Cackletta, a villian from the Mario games, as she has signed on for an untitled spin-off for the Mario franchise.

In addition to that, Thorup Van Orman (The Angry Birds Movie 2, The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack) and Trisha Gunn (The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part) will direct the spin-off.

Endless Animation and Laika team up for their second feature together: Once

From Endless Animation, the minds behind Can You Imagine? and The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl and Laika, who bought us Coraline and Kubo and The Two Strings bring the second movie in their collaboration together, the stop motion animated musical Once.

Once takes place in a fantasy world where fairy tales are real as we center in on Wendy (Lilla Crawford; Into The Woods), the bookish and rather reserved girl on the cusp on teenage-dom, and Thomas (Brady Noon; Good Boys), her younger more excitable brother tired of their mundane boring “happily ever after” life, have decided to take a forest stroll to retrieve ingredients for their supper as the two siblings become wrapped up on a quest to save their baby sister from The Witch (Helena Bonham Carter; Cinderella, Les Miserables) who needs the baby for a spell against her ex husband and just as vile sorcerer The Shadowman (David Thewlis; Harry Potter series, Big Mouth). The Witch promises to return the child if she is bought The Godmother. The two must trek across the safe home in the woods to the outer regions of society, as they learn what it means to grow up and if magic is real.

The rest of the cast includes:

Jordan Peele as Dog

Taron Egerton as The Prince

Zendaya as Red

Jackie Buscarino as Rapunzel

Norm McDonald as The Wolf

with

Maya Rudolph as Mother

Jason Suldekis as Father

James Corden as The Thief

and

Estelle as The Godmother

Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise (Beauty and The Beast, The Hunchback of Notre Dame) will direct the project as Alan Menken (Medusa) and Eddie Perfect (Beetlejuice: The Musical) to provide the songs. Once is aiming for a Y6/7 release date.

The power is kicking off. Ian Jones-Quartery (OK KO! Let's Be Heroes) will direct Y8's Powerline while Tony-nominated actor Jeremy Pope will voice the electrifying title character. Hourglass Pictures is working closely with Sebastian Peters and Mark Dindal (Both of whom are executive producing the project) but we've yet to recieve an answer on how - and if - the film will fit into their existing Disneyverse.

Continuing the trend of casting real dog actors, Cookie Pictures is looking to cast Monte, the Schnauzer mix playing Tramp in Disney's upcoming Lady & The Tramp remake in whatever's readily available. "CAYOM needs more doggo stars and that's a fact," Cookie Pictures President and CEO Sebastian Peters said in a statement.

This Fall, Go Bananas!

Prepare for the most mind blowing, action packed, gut buster superhero movie of all time, with the worlds most famous detective, that happens to be a chimpanzee with the power of a chimpanzee who happens to be a good detective.

From Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (The Lego Movie, 22 Jump Street, Spider-Man: Into The Spider Verse, Toons v Reality) and Endless Entertainment comes Detective Chimp: The Primate Private Eye.

The immortal, enigmatic yet charismatic and kooky Detective Chimp (Kelsey Grammer), who happens to be a 4 foot tall chimpanzee rocking a deerstalker hat used to be a world renowned detective but retired due to the lack of passion in his job, finds himself teaming up with Jessi Elm (Tessa Thompson), a type-A and logical rookie detective whose lost her briefcase in her big break case but finds it swapped with a strange red magical briefcase. John (Sacha Baron Cohen), a flamboyant and struggling wizard who desires it to wipe out all magic in the universe, who has a personal immortal rivalry and vendetta with Chimp. The two are then propelled on a 72 hour chase across the world as they attempt to find Jessi’s briefcase and the original owner of said briefcase as Jessi is forced to take in the illogical world around her and Chimp finds something he hasn’t in a while: joy. Also there’s a musical number or two.

The cast also consists of

Taika Waititi as Rex the Wonder Dog, Chimp’s best friend, a joyful superpowered canine

Alexandria Daddario as Zatanna, Chimp’s old flame and powerful stage performing sorceress

J.K. Simmons as Chief Colbert Charles, the head of Bureau of Detectives

Stanley Tucci

Thomasin McKenzie

and

Micheal Jai White

The film is reported to be a live action/CG hybrid ala Paddington with a budget of $100M. The film is aiming for a rating between PG/PG-13, as Mark Mothersburgh will score the film whilst Lord and Miller will write and direct the project. The film will arrive in theaters November 6th, Y6 in 3D, Dolby Cinema and IMAX.

Horizon Entertainment has hired Phil Lord and Chris Miller to work on a adaptation of the manga Assassination Classroom. The series follows a class of low ranking students who are forced to try and kill their teacher, a being with immense power before he destroys the planet (with the apocalypse set for the day they graduate). The film is being aimed as a satire of the educational system in North America.
