BEHIND THE CURTAIN OF MASS EFFECT: REVELATION

Numerator Pictures Reveals the Full Cast and Primary Crew for the Threequel

Spoiler

Fresh of an Oscar nomination ceremony that resulted in nine nominations for Mass Effect: Ascension, as well as finalized domestic box office receipts that just snuck over $300 million, Numerator Pictures is riding high on the success of its flagship sci-fi franchise. While the first two films haven't come close to the returns of mega-battleship franchises like Spark, Voltron, or Scavenger Wars, the studio is very confident that this is a franchise with long-term growth and retention in the years ahead. Part of the studio's strategy, as has been alluded to in the past, is to give every film a different director and writer for the foreseeable future, to give each film it's own particular touch and style.

As previously announced, Numerator Pictures has selected Nigerian-American director Olatunde Osunsanmi to direct Mass Effect: Revelation. The writing staff for the movie will be writing team Daniel Abraham & Ty Franck, who under the pen name James S.A. Corey have written the popular sci-fi novel series The Expanse, and have also written a number of episodes for the television adaptation of said novels. The studio believes that since Mass Effect: Revelation will expand the scale of the franchise and deepen its mythology, they wanted to tap writers familiar with creating a trail of clues and events that pull back the curtain on the bigger picture of what's at stake.

Additionally, the studio intends to utilize different composers for each film for the foreseeable future as well. For Mass Effect: Revelation, the studio has signed on the electronic music project M83, who they believe will provide a distinctive sound that echoes some of the themes and settings of this film, which will explore previously untapped alien and mechanical aspects.

Of course a film is not complete without its cast. Returning from the second adventure of the Normandy are Mackenzie Davis, Sean Teale, Rob McElhenney, Toby Kebbell, Essie Davis, Clark Gregg, Matthew Modine, Mandy Patinkin, and Blair Underwood in their roles.

A couple old faces from the first Mass Effect film return as well. Pablo Schreiber returns as Nihlus, the Turian special forces officer who assisted the Normandy in their investigation in the first film, and who formed a bond of respect with Mackenzie Davis' Shepard. Also returning is Giancarlo Esposito as Saren, the Turian agent who is Nihlus' mentor and superior, and who was revealed in a post-credits scene to be partially responsible for the strife of the first film at the behest of an unknown partner. It is Saren's destructive actions, and the Normandy's race to uncover his goals, that drives the plot of Mass Effect: Revelation.

Pablo Schreiber and Giancarlo Esposito return in their mo-cap roles as Turian special forces officers.

On top of that, several brand-new characters appear in the film, most of whom will be allies of the Normandy's crew. As revealed in the post-credits scene of Mass Effect: Ascension, Bella Heathcote will join the film in the role of Liara T'Soni, a young Asari archaeologist whose understanding of ancient alien artifacts becomes integral to the Normandy crew's understanding of Saren's plan. Maisie Richardson-Sellers joins the cast as Ashley Williams, a human soldier tasked with escorting Liara who along with the alien researcher gets thrust into the film's events early on. Katherine Langford joins as Tali'Zorah, a member of the previously unseen Quarian alien species, whose pilgrimage comes across important information that places her in deadly danger. Career voice actor Travis Willingham provides the voice of Urdnot Wrex, a skilled and aggressive mercenary who crosses paths with the Normandy's crew. Wrex is a member of the previously unseen Krogan race, who are loosely described as bipedal turtle dinosaurs.

Saren will have his own ally as well, Character actress Jennifer Ehle has signed onto the film to play Matriarch Benezia, a powerful and influential Asari leader whose resources are indispensable for Saren.

Numerator Pictures is confident that as the franchise becomes more and more a staple of the cayomverse, it may eventually see some of the same accolades as the Mega Space Operas that have appeared over the past six years. But until then, the studio is more than happy with the growth of Mass Effect over the first two films. This third outing is said to raise the stakes and widen the playing field for the franchise, so time will tell if cinema audiences and others of note will bite.

Mass Effect: Revelation will enter production next year for a Year 8 release.

Infinite Studios has claimed the rights to Total Drama Island. However, to the surprise of everyone in Hollywood, it’s not going to be a shitpost like Johnny Test or the other shitty Canadian cartoons that the studio considered giving a tonally off live action adaptation like a dark and gritty R rated Scaredy Squirrel remake directed by Todd Phillips but a genuine attempt a fun film.

Terry Crews has already signed on as playing Chef Hatchett as more casting details will arise.
