Hold on to your nuts. The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl and... Dana: Tripped Out will arrive in theaters Easter Y8 joining Toons V Reality and Seaside for Endless Animation’s Y8 lineup.

The sequel takes place a few months after the original as our heroes, bounty hunters, and an oversized head has their happy ending. All except for Squirrel Girl’s somewhat reluctant, sarcastic yet lonely best friend Dana (Taissa Farmiga) who now has highly powerful telekinetic superpowers and doesn’t want to be a heroine despite help from her bestie, the lovable kooky Squirrel Girl (Academy Award winner Anna Kendrick). Unfortunately the problems become only the tip of the iceberg when a recent excursion cause Dana to lose herself and deal with a deadly new villainess known as Hive Queen (Vera Farmiga) who wants Dana as she plans to use her as a pawn to mind control everything. Desperate for a cure as well as avoiding other heroes forced to bring Dana in, Squirrel Girl, Dana, squirrel sidekicks Tippy Toe (Samantha Ireland) and Monkey Joe (Lil Rel Howery), and vigilantes/street artists Bullseye (David Tennant) and Illouise (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) must travel throughout attempt to find a way to help Dana control her powers.

In addition to the aforementioned Neil Patrick Harris, Grey Griffin, and Berleezy, the original cast is slated to return minus the late Stan Lee as well as adding Stephanie Beatriz and Nick Kroll to the cast.

The film is reported to be a mind bending musical, with songs by Jon Lajoie (The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part), Lolita Ritmanis (Batman: The Brave and The Bold “Mayhem Of The Music Meister”) and Jesse Novak (BoJack Horseman “Don’t Stop Dancing”). Daron Nefcy is also returning to write and direct the sequel, as Rebecca Sugar returns to help produce. The sequel is said to tackle anxiety and depression like Super Mario Bros tackled immigration and Can You Imagine tackled adulthood issues.

Endless Animation and Marvel Entertainment have relaeased a new synopsis for The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl and... Dana: Treble in Paradise preliminarily scheduled for March 22nd, Y8.

All except for Squirrel Girl’s somewhat reluctant, sarcastic yet lonely best friend Dana (Taissa Farmiga) who now has highly powerful telekinetic superpowers and doesn’t want to be a heroine despite help from her bestie, the lovable kooky Squirrel Girl (Academy Award winner Anna Kendrick) as the two’s friendship is seemingly struggling.

It soon turns out Dana’s powers are otherworldly as she, Squirrel Girl, Tippy Toe (Samantha Ireland), Monkey Joe (Lil Rel Howery), Bullseye (David Tennant) and Illouise (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) are transported to the utopia, The Great as Dana is offered a spot on to become a member of god like beings all with musical talent, led by Queen Vespi (Renee Elise Goldberg). Cookie Pictures and its Animation division have now confirmed that Kid Icarus, the studio's second adaptation of a Nintendo franchise, is aiming for a November Y8 release, with Kung Fu Panda and The Little Prince director Mark Osborne in the directing chair. The film will also be produced by The Legend of Zelda: Secret of the Guardians director Travis Knight and Cookie Pictures Animation general producer Mark Dindal.

Osborne will join a growing roster at the animation studio that includes Knight helming Zelda, animation directors Shane Acker & Rosana Sullivan helming Year 8's Panthera: The New Age and The Owl House creator Dana Terrace developing an original adventure franchise based on concepts from potential Scrooge McDuck films before the series's cancellation.

As for voice casting for the animated feature, the studio has confirmed that actor and singer Asher Angel (Shazam!) will voice the main character Pit, the titular "Kid Icarus."

An early synopsis for the project has also been provided to Cayom Magazine, subject to change:

"In a world not dissimilar to Ancient Greece, a whole race of angels have served the Greek gods of Olympus in the many years since the untimely demise of Apollo, with a thousand angels fulfilling his task of bringing out the sun for the mortal world each day. Pit, a spunky and brave, if somewhat dimwitted young angel, wishes to be just like everyone else. Only problem, however, is that he's the one angel who cannot fly.

Meanwhile Palutena, Goddess of Light, a spoiled, snarky, mischievous and perpetually lazy diva, the runt of the Greek pantheon, is tasked by Zeus to take on more responsibility in life, including adopting and raising an angel to become a great warrior. Palutena, out of pure laziness, picks Pit by accident, and too arrogant to admit her mistake she and Pit embark on a journey that allow the two to discover traits and attributes among one another that help both grow as people."

No casting has been settled yet for Palutena, who both the synopsis and the studio's press release confirm is going to be the film's second main character, however Cookie Pictures have told the magazine that an A-list actress is actively sought after for the role.

Further information about Kid Icarus and other projects is expected to be revealed in the transition period between Year 7 and 8.

In addition to The Phoenix Saga, Endless Entertainment is also bringing back Bionicle. The Y2 Peter Jackson film, despite making over $100M DOM, was a critical failure and a flop.

This go around, Guillermo Del Toro is attached to write and direct the project. The film is still set to be entirely motion capture animated and at least a PG-13 rating. The untitled Bionicle reboot will hit theaters November Y8.
