Endless Animation’s Squirrel Girl sequel is still on for Y8 but is facing a massive plot overhaul due to complications in the script. The sequel decide to focus more on the characters in the script and dropped the musical element which wasn’t working.

The new title for the sequel is The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl: 2 Fuzzy 2 Furious as it keeps the 12/13/Y8 date. Lauren Tom (Futurama, Teen Titans, Friends) has signed on to voice the main antagonist, Mellisa the Malevolent, a time traveling struggling villain from the 31st century who wants to make a name for herself, and like Squirrel Girl, chose her profession for fun and is cheerfully optimistic. Plot will involve time travel, alternate universes, college, the newly licensed  and soon to be craved toy of the season Squirrelmobile and Squirrel Girl’s parents as a new synopsis reads

“After being a superhero for years, Squirrel Girl (Academy Award winner Anna Kendrick) has it all. She’s gotten the respect she deserved, a plethora of friends and won the heart of her longtime crush Speedball (Daniel Henney) and most importantly, learned to love herself warts and all. But like any sequel, Squirrel Girl has new trials to face, as she suddenly starts to grow weary of the superhero gig as well as feeling unfulfilled. Squirrel Girl decides to embrace her alter ego Doreen Green as she attempts to find herself by going to college alongside her still enrolled best friend Dana (Taissa Farmiga) as well as balance her superhero life, whirlwind romance with Speedball as well as a looming threat: her parents (J.K. Simmons and France McDormand) coming for a visit.

However, things become further complicated when a new time traveling supervillain Melissa the Malevolent (Lauren Tom) has come to town, and is revealed to be one of Squirrel Girl’s descendants aka her great (x33 greats) granddaughter, who hatches her own plan to become the greatest villain of all time as her antics interfere with our heroine on a personal and physical level. Can Squirrel Girl master being Doreen Green? Or is she just Squirrel Girl?”

Longtime character actor James Hong (Mulan, Kung Fu Panda franchise) joins the voice cast of Where? in a supporting role. Hong will be playing Carmen Sandiego's old and retired mentor and instructor who she still occasionally turns to for advice.

Lauren MacMullan (Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Simpsons Movie, Zootopia, Wreck-It Ralph) will make her directorial debut for The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl: 2 Fuzzy 2 Furious.

MacMullan will write the script alongside Endlss Animation head Meg LeFauve (Medusa, The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl), Amanda Rydna (DC Super Hero Girls (2019)), and Seth Grahame-Smith (The Lego Batman Movie)

Rebecca Sugar (Notes From The Otherspace, the Can You Imagine? trilogy) will produce as Endless Entertainment CEO Xavier B. Irving and Endless Animation head Chris McKay will executive produce.

Due to the abysmal handling of the last two seasons of Star Vs. The Forces of Evil and prior obligations, Daron Nefcy will not be returning to direct but due to contracts will get an executive producer credit.

Michael C. Hall (Dexter, Six Feet Under) has been casted to voice Doctor Doom in Endless Animation’s The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl: 2 Fuzzy 2 Furious as one of the main antagonists alongside Lauren Tom. C. Hall was originally supposed to play a different original villain but that was before the plot change. Endless Entertainment reached out to Horizon Entertainment after the studio claimed the rights for Fantastic Four before hand to discuss.

Said iteration is said to be more comical similar to The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl comic series, where in this version, Doom acts as Melissa’s (Lauren Tom) mentor, the most nefarious supervillain on the planet and Squirrel Girl’s archenemy who Squirrel Girl doesn’t even know exists, despite his humiliating defeats against her.

The sequel scurries into theaters December 13th, Y8.

Endless Entertainment is planning on make a new rendition of the classic story, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The project is expected to arrive in theaters Y9, but the studio is still working on the right pitch, as they’re debating on the right path. That said the project is said to be a mix of both books and original storylines.

Some executives have considered making it an Endless Animation joint in conjunction with the stop motion gurus at Laika, others have considered a new live action take. Many directors have been met with, each with a different pitch ranging from Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (Toons v Reality, The Lego Movie), Kevin Lima (Tarzan, Enchanted), Ava DuVernay (Selma, A Wrinkle in Time), Alex Hirsch (Gravity Falls, Shiverin’ Gulch) and Travis Knight (The Legend of Zelda, Kubo and the Two Strings). It is reported that Ava DuVernay is the frontrunner as the studio finds her pitch the most creative.

However, they have announced that Academy Award winner Donald Glover (Atlanta, Gateways) will play Willy Wonka.

Meet Tisha: A Plus One Short

Tisha (Pam Grier) lives retired in an apartment in Nashville. She goes about her day, somewhat bored and annoyed with the world. However, we can discover rather quickly, through the restaurants she frequents and the place she shops for clothes that she isn’t exactly struggling for cash. However, she desperately wants something to do. She calls Kelsey (Tessa Thompson) that evening, asking her how she’s doing and Kelsey seems somewhat evasive of her own personal details. However, Kelsey pries a bit into Tisha’s life, and Tisha, somewhat annoyed by this, says that you give some to get some. Kelsey laughs at this and reveals she’s a bit distracted as she’s prepping for a weekend trip. Tisha smiles, and asks where she’s going. Kelsey says she doesn’t actually know; it’s apparently a surprise. Tisha asks who’s surprising her and Kelsey, somewhat uneasily, says it’s just someone she knows in Chicago. Now Tisha stops prying, and thanks her for the conversation. A few more weeks pass as we see Tisha’s daily routine, until suddenly, she looks at her phone and remembers it’s her 70th birthday in a few weeks. She texts Kelsey to ask if she was planning on visiting, and Kelsey apologizes, saying it’s a busy time but she can’t wait to see her next. Tisha gets an idea and goes on her computer to book a flight to Chicago…

Endless Animation greenlights Monkeys on Mumbai

Yep, Endless Animation is reviving another ambitious animated project. Monkeys on Mumbai like the original cancelled project is a loose retelling of Ramayana from the point of view of monkeys. The story takes place when two monkey brothers accidentally unleash a demon king who kidnaps Bollywood’s most beloved star as the two team up with the star’s pet monkey as they not only attempt to save the star but to save the world as they embark on a perilous journey avoiding unimaginable demons, deadly assassins, treacherous climates and a sentient banana. Monkeys on Mumbai will be directed by Kevin Lima (Enchanted) and Pixar alumni Sanjay Patel (Sanjay’s Super Team) from a script by Patel and Adrian Molina (Coco). The songs will be written by A. R. Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire) and Stephen Schwartz (Wicked).

Monkeys on Mumbai is using the same Worldmeander technique that combines traditional hand drawn animation and computer animation used for films such as the billion dollar juggernaut, Don’t Let The Pigeon Drive and the upcoming Medusa and The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl

Monkeys on Mumbai will arrive in theaters Y6.

@cayommagazine

Naomi Scott (Aladdin, The Scavenger Wars series, almost any space opera) has been casted to play Pinki, the female lead in Monkeys on Mumbai. Ben Kingsley (Schindler’s List, The Jungle Book) has signed on the main antagonist, the Demon King Ravana, tortured with 9 extra power hungry heads and his crippling insecurity.

The film is apparently targeting a Y9 release.
