Academy Award winner Golshifteh Farahani (Notorious, gen: LOCK) has joined as part of the main cast of The Untitlable Squirrel Girl Sequel as Alchemist, an original hero, part of the new wave of heroes who has made a name for herself in the hero world, being one of the most iconic and powerful heroes. Alchemist can take on attributes of any compound or element she touches.

Lager Pictures has recently green-lit American Brutus, a Historical Thriller/Drama which is said to be loosely based on the book of the same name by Michael W. Kauffman, detailing the background and motivations of John Wilkes Booth, the infamous stage actor turned conspirator who assassinated Abraham Lincoln. The studio has also tapped Academy Award-nominated director Sir Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, The Martian) to produce and direct the film, while Robert Pattinson (Good Time, The Lighthouse, Tenet) will star as Booth.

Like Kauffman’s book, the film is set to be a character study on Booth, exploring and analyzing the actor/assassin’s motivations in unseating Lincoln, in whom the assassin saw a treacherous autocrat, “an American Caesar”. According to Lager Pictures studio head Christopher Lager, the film is said to be heavily influenced by the style and structure of William Shakespeare's historical plays, with Lager specifically citing Julius Caesar as the driving creative influence for the film’s story. Lager also cited the chapter ‘1865: Assassination’ from James Shapiro’s book Shakespeare in a Divided America, which explored both Booth and Lincoln’s relation with Shakespeare’s plays (the former having acted in several of the writer’s plays), as being the source point of inspiration for the project.

American Brutus is currently aiming for a Fall/Holiday Y10 release, though there is no set in stone date as of now.

Cookie Pictures has just told the magazine that their upcoming Hilda sequel, directed by Over the Garden Wall and The Owl House creators Patrick McHale and Dana Terrace, is looking to bow on December 12th, Y9. The studio wishes to keep mum on plot details at least until Y8, but production is looking to ramp up as the year progresses to get a good head-start. No dates for other Y9 films have been explored openly as of yet.

Following the fall of the Berlin wall and during the exploding Eurodance scene in the early 1990s, the mysterious emergence of a new and deadly psychedelic drug dubbed the "Last Sunrise" threatens to throw a fragile Europe into a new era of chaos. Investigating the origins of the drug, American agent Michael Graham comes close to cracking the case wide open when he's killed during a surprise ambush in Amsterdam that also destroys his evidence.

 

Having their relationship with American intelligence fractured due to blame being shifted for failing to stop the ambush, the British MI6 seizes Graham's remains and through a highly experimental procedure absorbs his soul into a drug dubbed the "Anima Mea," a substance that allows its user to inherit and share headspace and physical capabilities with the soul trapped in the drug. Searching for candidates that can take the "Anima Mea" and survive in order to uncover what Graham found out before his death, MI6 targets University teacher and frequent drug user Devon Pawar and plants the drug in him without his knowledge or consent.

 

Now literally sharing the same headspace, both Devon and the soul of Graham are forcibly recruited by the MI6 to together track down the distributors of "Last Sunrise" and stop them before the drug effectively conquers Europe, all while being forced to deal with Devon's crumbling professional and social life so as to not risk jeopardizing the mission.

The split between the physical and the astral world dates back to the dawn of existence, the big bang that created the physical universe that continues to expand and release its entropy to this day. The astral, where all energy is everlasting and entropy is never released, is a plane of existence sought for billions of years by the scavengers of the physical, whose greed and hunger will never be satisfied by the finite resources of their world.

 

One of these seekers, the tens-of-thousands-of-years old Breugach of the rampaging Industrialists, discovered that in rare happenstances an individual of the physical world is born with powers they extract from the astral, providing a gateway for him to harvest the astral plane's energy to his benefit. One of these individuals, as fate would have it, is none other than his only-born son, Tenebris.

 

But Tenebris could not harvest the powers of the astral realm by himself, and so he and his father spent many years searching for another who shared his powers. Just as it seemed that it was all for naught, a girl mysteriously washed ashore on a distant planet, her memories shattered into fragments she could never repair, and with powers that to this day both Tenebris and his father could barely begin to comprehend.

 

Breugach would forcibly adopt this girl and name her Aurora, and over the next few millenia, Tenebris and Aurora would bond and fall in love, all while their father continued his rampage across the universe in search of its treasures, killing or enslaving anyone that stood in his or the Industrialists way. Tenebris and Aurora were not blind to Breugach's continued crimes, but would do nothing to stop them.

 

Five years after the fall of Packer and the end of the human-khougan war, Joel and Kira find themselves lost in the far edges of the universe in search of a cure against the Pallasyne. Their journey crosses paths with the Industrialists and the Mavillians, an alien race leading an insurgency against the Industrialists, and being caught up in their conflict brings them to Tenebris and Aurora's doorsteps, unwitting of the dire consequences their actions henceforth will befall them.

 

In the darkest and most operatic chapter of the Scavenger Wars saga thus far, bonds will be made and broken, lines between truth and deception will blur, realities will be warped, legacies will be shattered, loved ones will turn on one another, tragedy will befell, and the true nature of both the physical and the astral plane will be revealed.

 

For in the far future... no man can truly run from his fate.

From the studio that bought you realms of imagination in Can You Imagine?, to the animated innovations in Gateways and the madcap satire In Toons v Reality, would like to invite you to take a vacation this summer in the fictional Caribbean and African inspired islands of the Kisilan Pennisula, as Endless Animation introduces CAYOM’s first animated African hero, Meeka, who will star in her own titular movie, Meeka.

 

Director Matthew A. Cherry (Academy Award nominated Hair Love) notes “The reason why The Neighborhood became Meeka was our drafts weren’t going as well as we forgot about the culture. Meeka still carries the themes that The Neighborhood did but at the same time feels much more immersive and powerful towards black culture. Not to mention, it’s also rare to see a movie with an entirely black cast and crew.”

In an alternate Earth, the Kisilan Peninsula was a lush set of four islands filled with lush jungles, breathtaking seas and like any good fantasy, brimming with magical energy and creatures. The Peninsula was composed of four tribes (the warrior tribe Zuloji, the diplomatic and powerful Ufanolo, the spiritual Rohad, and the farming tribe Mu’ku) lived together but had trouble engaging in peace. But the African Goddess Isis (Lupita Nyong’o) herself gifted the people with the gift to harness magic for societal good, but overtime, man got greedy which allowed Hofu (Kevin Michael Richardson), god of darkness and fear, to manipulate and bring in a reign of terror, releasing a swarm of monsters crafted from nightmares and fears of citizens. Isis sacrifices herself to seal Hofu away in the ethereal plane as a magical shockwave is created, causing the islands to split both literally and figuratively.

 

2,000 years later, the story takes place during a rise of new age technology as magic is slowly being phased out in terms of practice as well as an age of somewhat shaky relationship with the tribes. Our story focuses on the kind-hearted and intuitive Meeka (Skai Jackson) is a 16 year old member of the Mu’ku, daughter to Prince Jomo (Mahershala Ali), the Mu’ku’s lead farmer. Meeka is also one of the few people in the islands to use magic proficiently. Meeka enjoys living the simple life with her pet of unknown origins: Kivu (who is the size of black housecat with eagle like wings) and her best friend, the boisterous heir prince and her cousin, Jabari (Caleb McLaughlin), having fun and helping her island. And despite her big ideas and her name meaning fearless, Meeka is rather… meek.

 

However, Hofu’s monsters return, Meeka gets a powerful vision from Isis, who warns her Hofu will return unless Meeka can unite the tribes by finding the Heart of Isis. Meeka must live up to her name, as she, Jabari and Kivu sneak out of a journey to unite the islands to save their home.

 

Other cast members include

• Kirby Howell-Baptiste (The Good Place, Infinity Train) as Naja, an honorable and disciplined Zuloji warrior who joins Meeka on her travels.

• Marcus Scribner (black-ish, She-Ra) as Prince Abejul, the master inventor and vain son of the King of Ufanolo who joins the heroes in order to prove himself to his father

• Djimon Hounsou (Aquaman, Shazam!) as the unnamed King of Ufanolo

The leads for Kay Cannon’s Sisters of Jump Street have been casted as Kristen Stewart (Charlie’s Angels, Clouds of Sils Maria) and Mandip Gill (Doctor Who, Scooby-Doo: Cult of The Creeper) will play the leads. Gill’s character is expected to the be the main lead. Sisters of Jump Street will comes to theaters May 10th, Y8.
