A NUMERATOR PICTURES ANNOUNCEMENT

In August Year 5, Numerator Pictures released the animated feature Sylvarius, which grossed $259,033,760 domestic and $590,054,123 worldwide. It also received substantial acclaim, with strong reviews and multiple Oscar nominations. It caught on with audiences and critics alike with its themes of tension between humanity and nature, and family dynamics. Now, after a few years of letting things settle, the studio is set to make its return to that world. It is now time for the curtain to be pulled back on the sequel.

Spoiler

Heremias

Heremias is set five years following the events of Sylvarius and is set to further explore the tensions between man and nature, and the struggle to find a balance between two competing, seemingly ultimately incompatible ways of life. We are told it is also laying the foundations for the exploration of destiny and legacy, raising questions of our responsibility for the actions of those who came before us, and whether forces outside our control inexorably push us to finish what our predecessors started.

Five years have passed since the re-securing of peace between the Kingdom of Lyandra and the Great Aeolian Forest, and the peace between the two realms has remained stable, in large part due to the vigorous efforts of Prince Marcus (LaKeith Stanfield) and his friends and advisors to forge common understanding between the humans of Lyandra and the wild denizens of the Forest. And now, an era of change seems poised to crest over the horizon, as the health of King Julius (John Noble) is starting to fail, and Marcus understands his elevation to king is likely to happen sooner rather than later.

In those five years, many things have occurred that have change the people around him. Selena (Ashley Johnson), the protagonist of Sylvarius, has finished her courses at Danton University and has returned to Lyandra to open up her own potion and alchemical shop in the capital, and her relationship with Marcus has stayed strong, and has recently turned into an engagement. The new fiancés bliss though is pressured by Julius' declining health, and the weight of responsibility put on Marcus. Helping her alleviate Marcus' worries is Cobben (Peter Dinklage), now the chief magical advisor to the kingdom, and Selena's younger sister Anna, who has become Cobben's apprentice. And in the Great Aeolian Forest, the guardian Sylvarius (Khary Payton) keeps a patient watch, providing advice to Marcus when asked, but otherwise staying out of human affairs.

The relative peace of their corner of the world is disrupted when competing embassies arrive at the capital from the City-State of Kerebas, a small but proud city that is considered to be at the forefront of technological advances, and the Murlandi Wilds, a desolate steppe of sand, rocks, and plains, with both embassies seeking the mediation of a third party to prevent a war between Lord Methyr, the ruler of Kerebas, and Heremias, the Guardian of the Murlandi Wilds. The arrival of the embassies brings news and information that Marcus cannot resist learning more of, as his own natural powers, a result of his descending from Sylvarius, have been manifesting more strongly and wild of late, and he sees in this mediation a chance to learn more about controlling himself. Marcus' sudden departure to the far west to Kerebas and the Murlandi Wilds without Selena or the others kicks off a series of events that threatens to unleash a catastrophe unlike any their world has experienced in centuries, and reveals a number of truths that changes the direction of multiple characters forever.

A number of new cast members join the aforementioned characters in this next grand adventure from Numerator Pictures. True to Numerator Pictures, principles, the studio usually seeks to cast people with voice acting experience, especially career voice actors and actresses, as opposed to stars.

Firstly, given the time-jump, the character of Anna will now be voiced by Kiernan Shipka (The Legend of Korra, Mass Effect: Ascension).

A new addition to the gang of heroes is Ashly Burch (Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet, numerous video games, Attack on Titan (English Dub)), who plays Catherine, who Selena befriended while at Danton University and whom returned with Selena to co-run her potion and alchemical shop. She's a bit more mischievous and incisive/cynical than Selena.

Sumalee Montano (Star Wars: Resistance, Voltron: Legendary Defender, Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny) voices the titular character Heremias, the guardian of the Murlandi Wilds. Heremias has been radicalized by the constant encroachment of humanity and uses her powers to bring drought and pestilence to ward off further advances. It is her supposed understanding of natural powers that drives Marcus to seek her out.

Aimee Carrero (Elena of Avalor, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power) voices Myria, a young emissary of Heremias who strikes up a connection with Marcus, and whom acts as his guide and companion on his journey westward, to the chagrin of Selena.

Liam McIntyre (Spartacus television series, Gears of War series, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order) voices Garosh, the emissary of Lord Methyr of Kerebas to Lyandra to try and convince the kingdom to side with its fellow humans. When Marcus seeks out Heremias, Garosh starts to hunt him.

Transgender actor Ian Alexander (Netflix's The OA, The Last of Us Part II, Star Trek: Discovery) voices Kristos, a street urchin in Kerebas who inadvertently learns more than he should after overhearing a conversation, and in the process of escaping stumbles into Selena and her companions in search of Marcus

Longtime nerd actor Wil Wheaton (Teen Titans GO! To the Movies, Stretch Armstrong & the Flex Fighters) voices Eckit, a somewhat dimwitted palace guard assigned to protect and follow Selena around, and usually the butt of jokes and pranks played by Selena and others, though he takes them in stride. His befuddledness is equaled by his loyalty and friendly demeanor.

Mae Whitman (Avatar: The Last Airbender, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, DC Super Hero Girls) voices Lavendra, the powerful and devious sorceress aiding Lord Methyr in his rule of Kerebas, and whose hidden agenda may ultimately threaten more than just the city she purports to aid.

Lastly, Sam Witwer (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Supergirl) voices Lord Methyr, the ruler of Kerebas, who ruthlessly seeks to advance the expansion of humanity and development of its technological mastery over nature at any cost.

HEREMIAS is scheduled to release March 7, Year 9.

Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum) will direct a live-action adaptation of the popular mobile game Among Us for New Journey Pictures. The film will blend parody and pastiche in its approach to the sci-fi, mystery, horror, and slasher genres. As the characters where colored spacesuits, the film will offer a gimmick to the audience by withholding the A-list cast of the film, motivating the audience to guess which actors are playing which crewmate during the viewing (a la The Masked Singer). The film will include CGI VFX and an elaborate set design, so NJP wants to release the film in IMAX, even if only for a week.

NJP clarifies that Among Us is indeed a Y8 release.

In a exclusive for CAYOM Magazine, Horizon Entertainment has brought some exclusive plot details for The Castaways.

The film follows Natalye AKA Astra ( played by Letitia Wright) a newbie superhero who after a botched rescue leads to her death joins a group of other heroes from alternate universes. Joining her are Jack Lowden as Victor Regio, a cyborg from a cyberpunk future who is traumatized by the betrayal of his girlfriend. Bill Hader joins as Nick Morrison, a CIA agent with the ability to shapeshift who comes from a world where the cold war between the USSR and America never ended.  They are under the watchful eye of a being known as Helmsley, a " multiverse watchdog"  against a villain played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

The studio says the film was inspired by the Marvel Comics series Exiles and describes the group as "members of the island of misfit toys." They are also taking a huge risk with the villain role as MEW has no dialogue in the film. They hope to explore her character through body language, facial expressions and sign language.

Cookie Pictures has put out an official statement regarding the future of the Scavenger Wars franchise and the involvement of one of its main stars, Letitia Wright. This statement has been replicated on the official SW twitter account and delivered to numerous outlets before publishing.

Quote

Since Year 3, Ms. Letitia Wright has embodied the Princess, later Queen Tamara of Khouga in the Scavenger Wars franchise. Appearing in three films and nominated for an Academy Award in two while winning one, Ms. Wright has portrayed Tamara as kind, hopeful and stubbornly deterministic, and has served as an inspiration for millions of women and girls worldwide.

It has come to our attention, however, that Ms. Wright has been sharing material that propagate a view of vaccines completely devoid of scientific fact, as well as transphobic and other bigoted content. When confronted, Ms. Wright appears to have only reinforced her view on these false statements. It has also come to our attention that Ms. Wright may have made implicit comparisons of president-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr. to the antichrist, though the statements in question are currently under investigation.

While it is Ms. Wright’s right to hold these views, they do not represent the values that the Cookie Pictures Group or any of its affiliates hold. Cookie Pictures is dedicated to create an inclusive space where scientific fact is upheld, and spreading of baseless misinformation that could cause real harm has no place on our premises. We also do not believe that these views should represent a character as hopeful and kindhearted as Tamara, and with Ms. Wright breaching our code of conduct, we no longer feel she should carry the responsibility of embodying the role.

This morning, we asked Ms. Wright to resign from the role, effective immediately. Ms. Wright will no longer portray Tamara in any future installment of the Scavenger Wars series, and will not make an appearance in any other Cookie Pictures production in the foreseeable future. Due to the character being portrayed through digital motion capture technology, the studio is currently hard at work seeking a new actress to portray the role, but cannot share any further details at this time.

The production of The Scavenger Wars Part IV, directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Naomi Scott, Robert Pattinson, Daniel Henney, Melissa Barrera, Geraldine Viswanathan and Clive Owen, has not been affected by this decision, though the cast and crew have been notified. Other franchise mainstays, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Bex Taylor-Klaus, Taissa Farmiga, David Mazouz, Kenneth Branagh and Chiwetel Ejiofor, as well as director Matt Shakman and producers Shawn Levy and Matt Reeves, have also been notified. Ms. Wright’s agents and publicists have also been made aware of our decision.

Cookie Pictures will continue to push for inclusivity and for public awareness of scientific fact, and the only way to do so is to create a safe environment for our employees, our customers and our fans. We recommend anyone skeptical of vaccination to please do their research through recommended channels, and for anyone exposed to transphobia or any other form of bigotry in their homes or at their school/workplace to seek aid by which means necessary. Cookie Pictures will continue to support local shelters and organizations to make this possible.

The Scavenger Wars Part IV is still on schedule for a July 1st, Year 9 release. No other production has been affected at this time.

Signed,

Sebastian Peters

President and CEO of The Cookie Pictures Group

Burbank, California — December 4th

A representative for Cookie Pictures has declined to make any further comments at this time.

As development for Meeka continues as the studio is confident and proud of the work so far, Endless Animation has hired co-director Everett Downing (Hotel Translyvania 2, Meeka) to direct his debut feature aiming for Y9. Project details are scarce other than it taking place in the future inspired by Pinocchio, and said despite it having a whimsical tone to be more grounded in terms of themes than past Endless Animation fare. More details are expected to be announced New Years Day as Endless Entertainment is prepping a mini event for its Y8-Y10 library as the studio will reveal it’s Y9 slate and some Y10 projects.
