BREAKING NEWS:

Not one, but two follow-ups to Year 3's Ripper are in active development.

One is the previously announced straight sequel now under the working title The Catholic, with Tom Hardy returning in his Academy Award-nominated role as Detective Simon Barnes as he investigates an alleged conspiracy to topple the British government. Ripper director Gil Kenan is expected to return to the directing chair.

The other is a spin-off titled There'll Always Be an England and follows a descending relative of Simon named Jonathan Barnes, a neurotic air force officer in the early days of World War II volunteering to investigate a string of sabotages believed to be caused by German spies in the middle of the London Blitz. Actress Katherine Waterston and Upgrade director Leigh Whannell are on board the project, with Kenan expected to produce.

No release dates have been announced for either project.

Blankments Productions Will Take You to a World of Cryptids, March Y5

Blankments Productions' final announcement for the week is of The Secret Saturdays, a new adventure film that will be released in March of Year 5. James Wan will direct the film, which is being planned a seven-film franchise. Of course, the first film will standalone well and be an enjoyable movie for all ages.

The film follows the Saturdays, a family of cryptozoologists who travel the world in hopes of protecting the various cryptids that live among their world. They're members of the Secret Scientists, an international organization of people who protect the world while studying fields that aren't necessarily known to the general public. However, a nefarious television host steals the Secret Scientists have the Kur Stone, a map to the first cryptid, that, if unleashed, would very likely start a war on humanity. It's up to the Saturdays to retrieve the Stone and prevent a war.

The cast is as follows:

Idris Elba as Solomon "Doc" Saturday - the patriarch of the Saturday family. He's dedicated his life to studying and protecting cryptids, although he's always the skeptic in his family, wishing to find evidence before planning anything rash. Blind in one eye and wielding a battle glove, he always is looking out for his son, Zak, in hopes of preventing him falling in any danger.

Miles Brown as Zak Saturday - our protagonist. Born with a psychic ability to connect and communicate with cryptids, he loves these weird animals more than anything else. His Claw (a combination of a staff and a grappling hook) allows him to both defend himself and focus his psychic abilities. Zak is always looking for adventure, despite his parents trying to protect him from everything!

Anne Hathaway as Drew Saturday - Zak's mother, she's studied mysticism in addition to cryptids. Raised by Tibetan monks, she's well-versed in the world unlike her more awkward husband. However, she's even more protective of Zak than Doc is. She uses a Tibetan Fire Sword in battle, well-versed in how to wield the sword.

Terry Notary as Fiskerton "Fisk" Saturday (mo-cap) - one of the last Fiskerton Phantoms, he functions as a little brother to Zak. Fisk is considered to be one of the family by the Saturdays, along with the other two cryptids who travel with them (Komodo and Zon). An integral part of the family, he speaks in grunts and mumbles that the family can easily understand.

Armie Hammer as Doyle Blackwell - a mercenary for hire, Doyle is glad to work for anyone's who willing to pay him. His recent employment has put him in conflict with the Saturdays.

Thomas Kretchsmann as Leonidas Van Rook - another mercenary for hire, he mentors Doyle in their travels. An ex-flame of Drew, he also is a cryptozoologist, but only seeks to exploit cryptids for money. This puts him in the employment of our big villain...

Patrick Wilson as Dr. Arthur Beeman - the defacto leader of The Secret Scientists, he has an intense dislike of children and thus finds Zak to be a hindrance to the more serious things he's in charge of. When the Scientists aren't in meeting, he studies extraterrestrial activity, being the world's foremost expert of U.F.O.s.

Timothy Dalton as Vincent Vladislav "V.V." Argost (mix of mo-cap and live-action) - the Secret Saturdays' arch-nemesis. He hosts the hit international television show Weird World, a show where he investigates cryptids, allowing him to have a cover for his nefarious schemes. Argost never removes his mask and has heightened agility from years of training before becoming a TV show host.

Krisian Nairn as Munya - Argost's butler and right-hand man, he serves as Argost's muscle. He has superhuman strength and can transform into a half-human/half-cryptid monster thanks to being injected with the DNA of a Papuan Giant Spider. Like Frankenstein's monster, he never can speak in full sentences; only in vague grunts.

The film will be an exciting action-adventure saga that explores the world of cryptids in a way films have never done before. It's scheduled for March Year 5, a specific date still waiting to be determined. Hopefully this will become a massive franchise for Blankments Productions.

Oh yeah, I remember that show. Brings back a lot of memories from my childhood, coming home every Friday to see new episodes of The Clone  Wars and this as well. It's a shame it never got passed the first season.

it did. there are two seasons of the show (which are incorrectly labeled as three seasons everywhere lol)

Oh. I did not know that. Seems that it got cancelled prematurely tho? Only ten episodes in season 2 compared to 26 in the first one.

Updates

- Sojourn (formerly known as Unbreakable Bond) might move to Halloween Year 5. O$corp Pictures is still keen on the weekend prior to Valentine's Day weekend but inside sources state a few studio reps want an October release given the film's darker spookier tone. The film is rumored to be less sexual graphic but still holding an R rating. Director Tate Taylor has stated the film will not be gay erotica like the core trilogy. He stated the film will be revolutionary/push boundaries in other aspects.

- O$corp Pictures announces that Bartimaeus sequel "Golem's Eye" will be released November Year 5. Filming has completed and in post-production.

- With the recent spin-off (Sojourn) of Poison and Wine, O$corp Pictures is eyeing a gay romantic Christmas musical. It will be rumored to be centered around Tyler's brief romantic fling, Kyler from Truth Is. This is rumored to be release November of Year 5 but some sources are stating it might wait until Year 6. The studio reps stated the film will be more light hearted and comedic than the core trilogy. It will also be eyeing a PG-13 rating, a first for the series.

- We Are the Ants is TBD for Year 5. Project is trapped in development hell unfortunately. No news of a release date.

I'm legit considering moving Fantasia 3 out of the holiday season tbh given how over-crowded its getting.

To also elaborate, I'm considering a possible October release date, mostly for the fact that there are two segments that are specifically Halloween centered.
