BOX OFFICE LEAGUE IS BACK!! - SIGN UP THREAD - DEADLINE FOR SIGN UP: 1st August

Back in 2014, I created a Forum game called Box Office League.

 

It was a simple format. Players are put into 1 vs 1 match ups each week. They would predict on 5 films (7 or 9 during playoffs at the end), and over by the end of the game a champion would be crowned. In 2014 that champion was  @Films,  with @Goffe  coming second and @grim22 and @Stutterng baumer Denbrough the defeated semi finalists. 

 

I've decided it is high time to try bringing it back as I had a lot of fun with it and it is also a darn sight simpler that the Summer and Winter games so won't get in the way of those happening (especially now that @Matrix4You and @JJ-8 are so awesome about scoring)  

 

The total game run time is dependent on the number of entries obviously, but the maximum number of weeks it will last is about 11. 

 

Once a final list of entries is in. A fixture list will be drawn up. If more than 9 players join, players will be drawn into groups. Either way after the regular season, the top x (depending on number entries) players will proceed to the playoffs from which the champion will triumph and be crowned. 

 

All predictions are done by PM. And the second post ill give more details in scoring for those interested in the inner workings

So how does scoring work...

 

Well lets say that in week 1, A is against B and C is against D.

 

The questions are: (real questions will be more varied)

 

1) Predict the 3 day weekend for Avengers

2) Predict the 3 day weekend for Batman

3) Predict the 3 day weekend for Scooby Dooo

4) Predict the 3 day weekend for Megatron

5) Predict the 3 day weekend for Zombies vs Vampires 3: This time it's personal.

 

• [*]Scoring higher than the opponent on any given question will score you 1 goal
• [*]Scoring higher than 80% on any given question will score you 1 goal
• [*]Scoring higher than 90% on any given question will score you 2 goals
• [*]Scoring higher than 95% on any given question will score you 3 goals
• [*]Scoring higher than 98% on any given question will score you 4 goals

 

 

So lets pretend that A and B's answers looked like the following:

 

Q1: A - 74% B - 77%   (Final score for this question would be: A 0 - 1 B )

Q2: A - 85% B - 84%   (Final score for this question would be: A 2 - 1 B )

Q3: A - 97% B - 91%   (Final score for this question would be: A 5 - 2 B )

Q4: A - 0% B - 0%   (Final score for this question would be: A 0 - 0 B )

Q5: A - 93% B - 93%   (Final score for this question would be: A 2 - 2 B )

 

So therefore the final score between these 2 players (in goals) would be: A 9 - 6 B and so A is the winner and gets 3 points for the league.

 

If the final score between C and D finished 7 - 7 then the league after week one would look like the following:

The final table at the end of the season will have places decided through the following criteria:

 

• [*]Points
• [*]Goal Difference
• [*]Goals Scored
• [*]Result Between Tied Players
• [*]Results Excluding Bottom placed player, then second bottom player and so on.
• [*]Whoever gives me the most likes during the season.

 

NB: if a player does not predict for a week they will be awarded a score of 0.00% for every question. This allows the opponent to be eligible for all of the percentage bonuses for each question and is not punished for the misfortune of having a great week and not scoring as high as they deserved due to an opponent no show. If a player misses 3 rounds then they are removed from the league and all previous results deleted involving this player.
