The sequel easily will own No. 1 stateside with roughly $45M at 4,000-plus theaters and an overseas opening in the mid-$50M range for a grand $100M global debut. That start easily will make Blade Runner 2049 the biggest box office opening for leading man Ryan Gosling and director Denis Villeneuve.

This movie isn't doing 250 million worlwide. Not with these domestic numbers.

IF that 50m first weekend intl number hold, it is possible no ?

With 3 major market still to open and doing around 120-135m in those it opened, could reach close to 200m intl.

Will see if that big 50m intl openning will hold with actuals.

The UK led all markets with $8M for the weekend. That came in on par with Interstellar’s FSS and was 15% above Mad Max: Fury Road in 2015. Australia took a great $3.6M, topping both Interstellar (+9%) and Gravity (+28%); and Russia scored $4.9M, ahead of Gravity (+16%) and Mad Max (+1%). Other top markets include: France ($3.6M), Germany ($3.3M), Spain ($2.6M), Italy ($2.5M), Brazil ($1.8M), and Mexico ($1.6M).

You think this movie will perform well in China and SK?

We'll see.

Well, it is opening on par with Gravity in most of the markets, and while it won’t have the same kind of legs, I don’t see any reason to China & SK doesn’t follow this pattern, considering that both markets brought at least $100m for Gravity, I can’t see it doing under $80m in both markets, but let’s see.
