And these Venice audiences can be very tough...I think it’s Venice and Cannes that are the most brutal of the festivals...Maybe just Cannes?

Cannes isn't so brutal. I wouldn't call a festival where movies get 15 minutes of applause brutal.

Too early to rethink your 30-40% RT prediction?

I was kind of doing it on purpose because I have gotten pretty much every prediction wrong this year (only three I got right is Alita will make around 370-420 mil WW, Captain Marvel will make a billion, and Good Boys will overperform). It's the same reason why I have gone OUT in many of the clubs I would have gone IN and vice versa.

first review from a RT critic on letterboxd, 4/5.

Quote

Phoenix is phenomenal. Dark, gritty & fucking crazy. More on the lines of Mean Streets than Taxi Driver. It all looks to be serving a masterclass but Phillips stumbles in the last hurdle with the film not knowing if it wants to stand alone or be enticed by lore that surrounds it.

so many comps to Taxi Driver as expected.

@lorddemaxus  seems like the divisiveness  is about the ending?

We can’t call anything divisive yet if it’s only been said by one critic.

About the biggest applause thing. Tbf, this film seemed to have the biggest crowd (I think there even was a huge line for the screening).
