Smear campaign against the movie at its finest, everybody knows how Hollywood "loves" Trump, who normally makes "news" like this??

https://mobile.twitter.com/YahooNews/status/1196103970344845312

Certain group of people in media with agenda was trying before to associate movie with some incel or shootings bullshit, they failed miserably, now they're trying to associate it with Trump's name. It's pathetic.

Considering that Trump has railed against video games and movies for “promoting violence”, I’m surprised he didn’t say the same for Joker.

1060 ww with following split 338*0.55 + 722*0.40 gives 475 global theatrical returns on 55-60 prod budget.

IT1 with 700 ww was also amazingly impressive doing 328*0.55 + 372*0.40 for 329 returns on 35 prod budget.

It’s absolutely hilarious that people still try to say, “The media is not against it. Typical DC fan persecution complex.” Why are they trying to hard to bury Joker? It’s so weird.

This movie is the breakout of the decade. Still think Endgame is the hit of the decade, but this is a shocker unlike anything else this decade. Yes, even It, Deadpool, Jurassic World, American Sniper, The Greatest Showman, Jumanji, etc. were less surprising than Joker hitting a fucking billion dollars.

Cause Endgame is campaigning hard. Like, it isn't even subtle. And look at Marvel slate for 2022-2023. They never cared for October and now have movies scheduled in that month. They want Joker money and want to cockblock DC out of the month that worked out for them. Not trying to start the fandom war but it's interesting that Joker has been plagued with heavy duty smear (will incite mass shootings! is Drumpf's favorite movie!) since before it opened, in big part because WB positioned it as the contender from the start (prestige festival rollout). Which clashes with Disney plan to get Endgame the blockbuster spot in the Best Picture line up. Look at their ads at Deadline. Downplays superhero (like Joker), only plays up drama (like Joker). It's the clash of SH movies vying for Picture spot. Disney wants the repeat of oscars 2019. WB wants what they came close with TDK but times were different. BOOM. There won't be 2 on the preferential ballot, only one or none.

What I love about Joker's success is that it wasn't a wham bam thank you ma'am success. It has had staying power week after week because of good word of mouth.

I’d like to know what exactly makes this movie so appealing to foreign audiences. Its domestic gross is impressive for sure, but that international gross is something else.

I think grounded human story with relevant issues that connects to people on personal level, basically what most comic book movies lack.

Joker's UK gross is actually the second highest grossing DC film and probably will end up outgrossing TDKR fairly shortly in lc but the exchange rate has dramatically dropped in recent years hence why it's only third in dollars.

Just curious but where did Joker get most of its money from? Cause it sure wasn't from the US where it made a good amount but making a billion without China is surprising. Even Deadpool couldn't do that.

Also, the fact it surpassed every single Marvel film - apart from Infinity War and Endgame -, and to put that into perspective it has beaten 21/23 of the MCU films, including The Avengers and Age of Ultron 🤣
