A better idea would be doing spinoff Pennywise movies set in the past, but WB might need to pay Stephen King the big bucks for those movies to happen.

TA to AOU drop gives 241 dom.

I'd imagine most will be curious at how the new adult actors will handle the characters in the next movie.

Not to mention the returning Pennywise fans from the first part.

I shouldn't deal in absolutes but I don't think the next film will do 300. The kids part of the story is a little bit more compelling than the adult version of it. So I don't think the adult film will do quite as well.

All of those movies were still much bigger than IT.  I think we should watch how Deadpool 2 does this summer for a rough gauge.

 

Deadpool’s the closest comparison.

Possibly, but I don’t think they’re great comparisons.  DMC followed a, mostly, WOM hit.

 

IT, while having decent legs, was an anticipated weekend event.

 

The good thing, is they sell the movie as a two parter, so people are anticipating more.  If Deadpool manages to increase or stay relatively flat, I think IT 2 should be able to manage the same, assuming the movie is good quality and the marketing team does its job.

Never read the book but the TV version peters out when it gets to the adult part IMO.

The movie will be making a profit even if it misses the 100-150m mark, but I definitely think it stays well above that.

 

I think staying above 300m is a strong possibility.

I don't really think it's possible to predict a range at this point.  Everything went perfectly for the first part.  Who knows what's going to happen to the second part.

I think I like the adult stuff a bit more than some in here, but it still doesn't resonate as much as the kid's sections of the book.

 

I wouldn't be surprised with a drop from part 1.

Most of the grown ups main cast should be unknowns, with one or two more popular actors. What I liked about the miniseries was that nearly all the adult Losers were played by mostly unknowns.
