So, I enjoy a week long cruise and come back to the awesomest epic September opening weekend ever!:)...even with Florida theaters closed.  Congrats to all those who "felt it"...I admit I felt it would be big and record-breaking, but not 3 digit big (although I missed the week before hype - no internet, no news - maybe I'd have changed my mind if I'd have seen theaters selling out early:)...I'll say it was a happy shocker for me when I logged in yesterday night and saw the weekend movie news...to more happy September shocks, especially on "premier" movie concepts!

Is mother! even doing 10M at this point?

I think it's gonna open like Circle (maybe a bit more, and have better legs). On paper Watson and Hanks but didn't help. Mother! seems to be getting better reception but for movies like these above average ain't enough, cause people will check it out on dvd or netflix or whatever. It has to have enough buzz and acclaim to break people's patience and make them restless to catch it on the big screen.

edit: 11-12 ow / 2.6-2.8x / 29-34 dom imo

IT's Monday is close to HOME AGAIN's 4-day. This has surely been one of the biggest gaps between two openers.

I realize this is incredibly cliched but at this point if Warner Brothers just decided to pull IT from theaters it would still be a massively successful film. There really is not going to be any more good or bad numbers for this film it's just all gravy at this point. But if for some reason it does manage to fall less than 55% this weekend my jaw will be hitting the floor once again.

Wow, IT has nearly sold out every single showing today :ohmygod: Why the fuck hasn't my theater moved it to their biggest auditoriums for Wednesday (AA is having previews in the biggest on Thursday but still)? School is still closed tomorrow, and it's pretty clear they can't occupy enough people in the auditoriums It's currently in.

It was a really happy surprise:)...it's good to see movies not involving supers, animated creatures, or Star Wars can still smash the BO wide open if they are well enough made and marketed...and if they give the people what they want (my spouse has wanted IT for YEARS and I'm sure he's not the only King fan who has - now to find a good time to see this movie:)...
