That's why I'm not too worried about the low domestic gross for RWR. I'd like 150M+ but I don't think USA audiences are gonna eat it up. It is the first major event film of the spring so it has that going for it. RWR should make big bucks overseas especially in France and French territories. Also it should do very well in China because of the heavy focus on visuals and minimal script (easy to translate). I'd love to see 175M+ in China alone and combined global total around 550M-600M for it. Edited September 14, 2017 by Hiccup23

The thing is that the main actor is black because I thought it wouldl be cool that a Heroic fantasy franchise would be carried by a young brave black man (instead of a redhead teen in the book). In real life it would hurt its potential Overseas I think.
Xillix
Agreed, that one also has pretty big overseas potential. Which at this point is also the only hope for Artificial Age. For whatever reason foreign audiences absolutely eat up almost everything Paul W.S. Anderson does. The last Resident Evil made over TEN TIMES as much internationally as it did domestically. Even his big flop Pompeii did $90+ million overseas.

After Earth was led by a young black hero and that one still did three times its domestic business overseas.
Hiccup23
CAYOM typically has seen overseas grosses as an after thought. I think this needs to change. CAYOM should reflect the real box office when it comes to China and overseas grosses. On that note, I'd love to see (and I will be making) overseas predictions!

We don't usually do overseas predictions because they're often far harder to predict/make educated guesses on than domestic grosses.

Hiccup23
I am really hoping Mara, Daughter of the Nile can be a summer breakout. Reviews have been solid for it so far and I think its Mother's Day weekend should help.
