You’re right, it’s not like other original films are being culled or a whole slate is Thanos’d in favor for more franchises.

Fox's slate has been pretty thin for the last couple of years with not much on offer for the next because they were put up for sale.   This year has been a complete money losing shit show except for the upcoming Fox Searchlight properties which is a reason they're seen as the healthiest unit.  You think projects greenlit and produced by the same bunch in charge of the last 2 years are getting a rubber stamp by any origination?  Hah

There were only two serious bidders on Fox - Disney & Comcast which owns Universal.  Universal has Dreamworks and Illumination and Focus.      Focus makes Fox Searchlight redundant and it's doubtful Universal had any need for Blue Sky as well or 20 more films a year on it's release schedule.

By far the most valuable assets of Fox are it's WW TV stations and it's library.    Comcast was mostly interested in Sky TV - certainly not the main studio - which they eventually got when they were sold Fox's % after the merger.

Wasn't part of the POINT of buying Fox so that they had branding to sell less kids-friendly content under without "damaging" their main brand?

I doubt that it was 1% of the point, if they wanted to distribute less kids-friendly movie they just had to put a Touchstone logo on them no ? I am not sure Fox fanfare is much of an audience draw (it is nice but something worth buying ?).

I know that, but what you are ignore is that I said Fox/Comcast would be worse, it’s obvious that Fox merging with either isn’t a good thing. One may be worse by miles and the other is also bad. It is also showing with Disney more or less except for Searchlight standing for now, the same thing that Comcast would likely do. Projects come and go just like that but it’s telling and sad that Fox is slowly but surely being molded in focusing on franchises.

Yeah, I give FOX Searchlight 2 more years, max...I tried to warn you guys...

Disney....A true cancer to the industry....Their shills will still defend them..

This year hasn’t been kind to you huh. How are you holding up with Disney owning:

- Two live action remakes over $1B

- The biggest film ever WW

- Likely two animated films over $1B

- FFH and CM crossing $1B with ease

Again I’m surprised you haven’t gone the way of Kevin yet

If Disney ruins FS and Fox so fuckin what? There are plenty of studios churning out prestige movies, Oscar baits, etc. I don't understand crying over Disney domination when it isn't like only they make movies. I see plenty of movies that don't have their logo or follow similar formula and still make money.

If neither bought Fox they weren't going to just keep on going on;  they wanted to sell.  They'd most likely have sold Fox entertainment off piece-meal then and like it or not as movie fans but the movie studio part of Fox was probably the least compelling asset - especially if it was stripped of it's library (like poor MGM).  As a studio sans library - especially to another film studio - it's chief assets are the contracts for Avatar and Marvel - franchises.

Again I get that. I would prefer Fox not to sell or sell to a smaller studio than those two but it’s not my decision, and that’s not what they wanted.

I just don’t like the deal in general, I know this would happen regardless if Comcast/Disney/Sony/Viacom/etc bought it. I’m just voicing my concerns as well as my disdain and frustration for what’s happening now.

They are the Michael Bay of the move industry, only less creative .....Years from now we will look back at that strange time where Disney went all Michael Bay on the industry and dominated with disgust and confusion..........Just a warning to Disney...Too much Michael Bay is never a good thing as the Transformers franchise found out.......

Them and their shills like you should enjoy it while it last.....

History is told by the winners.

Tend to be told by the writers (correlation but not necessarily 1:1), Jews are telling the history of WW2 a lot, the history of the mongol was told by the civilization they destroyed, same for the vikings and so on.

National Socialism wasn't Socialism.  It was Fascism with a fake name.  Read a book.

Facism and socialist are obviously not exclusive, (Facism : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition).

But yes, Nazy regime was more state-capitalism and corporatism than socialism, like private run for profit enterprise but that can only exist if they benefit and are liked by the state with their goal often oriented by the state.

It is bizarre to me that people think so poorly of their own audience they instinctively assume the nazi-friendly segment of it is THAT necessary to their financial success....

If you can't safely satirize Hitler because you're afraid you'll lose audience, maybe you don't deserve to have an audience at all.

Hell, Mel Brooks built his career on poking fun at Nazis.
