Mel Brooks (who did the remake of To Be or Not To Be) is of the school that more or less says:

Belittling, mocking, and out right making fun of Nazis makes them weaker and thus art should/can do it.

Trivializing the Holocaust on the other hand, is a bridge too far.

Mel Brooks used that reasoning to say Life is Beautiful was shit. 👀

well honestly how many lighthearted Hitler movies are there?

Don't say The Producers.

There are quite a few German movies of that kind. "Er ist wieder da" is a satire in which the real Hitler wakes up in modern day Germany and turns into a media star; then there is the comedy about Hitler in which comedian Helge Schneider plays Hitler. Not to mention "Der Wixxer", a spoof of old Edgar Wallace movies, which includes a butler called Hatler, who looks and sounds like Hitler. And, following up on that, there is a comedy-show that included a series of clips called "Obersalzberg", which was basically spoofing the German version of The Office, replacing the main character with Hitler.

If even Germany has quite a few of those, you can bet that there are quite a few more elsewhere...

Ah gotcha. I get the point of Er Ist Wieder Da, and I've seen some of that movie.

I don't get the point of Jojo Rabbit. Yes, I know it's based on a book.

The New Puritains are freaking hilarious.

Say the wrong things and be cancelled.

No Oscar for you Scarjo.

That is the world Vladimir Poutine is nostalgic of by the way, when you had to admit to a court an elusive crime before being sent off to a Gulag to die a miserable death aka being cancelled in today s world.

The New Puritans.

Winning.

Why Scarlett should be cancelled? Because a small group of people with extremely heightened sensibility, living in their own twitter echo chambers, feel offended by some of her opinions? This "cancel culture" needs to stop, or else soon almost everyone will be "cancelled". Just grow up and man up, guys...
