Tuesday: IT 5,37 mln; Annabelle passed 100 m$ domestic

This is nonsense lol. The biggest horror of all time opened a few weeks into its release.

People are seriously overestimating the effect IT had on Annabelle.

Annabelle had already made 90% of its money when IT opened.

That was a genius scheduling move by WB putting Annabelle a month before IT, by the time IT was out, IT wasn't going to hurt Annabelle at all.

In any other year, Wonder Woman and/or Get Out would've easily been the box office stories of the year. But It beats them all in that regard. What an amazing year for box office this has been, and it's far from over.

2017 is still down from last year. It's not that amazing. :(

And it again is showcasing that product matters, particularly where franchises are concerned.

loved both these movies and they are written by the same guy. Now how about that. And he also penned The Nun. I think we are gonna be in for treat with that one and i love Taissa Farmiga.

Annabelle 2 was spooky as hell. And IT was more in your face horror. Still massively good too. There must be a 3rd one coming for Annabelle with how good this one has been recieved.

Beauty and the Beast (and most long term box office followers) would disagree. Beauty opened more than $50M above IT and will finish around $180M-$200M more domestically. Films that open in March are never the highest grossing film of the year come September, let alone by about $100M. That's what Beauty has accomplished this year.

While IT is certainly a massive success and a huge story, it is not the story of the year. If the film can gross an additional $300M this year, then I will change my mind.

Beauty and the Beast being a total monster could be seen coming from miles away, though. No one can say they ever saw IT going as high as they did from afar.

If the movie that makes the most money is automatically the story of the year then I guess there's nothing to talk about...soon the "story of the year" will be Star Wars
