Wait, the end of the world is gonna send us back to the year -0001? And why is it only three zeroes, why can't it be more than three? SO MUCH TO ASK ABOUT

Turns out the end of the world was August 2017. I assume it was caused by the massive failure in scheduling. So bad that Stronger was sent back in time to open on Wednesday the 30th. In fact it's gonna keep happening until it makes enough money over that weekend to save the overall grosses. A Jake Gyllenhaal picture was chosen for the task because of his experience doing a similar thing in Source Code.

Going by some people's logic that legs is the ultimate measure of audience reception, mother! was better received than Spider-man Homecoming, Logan, Rouge One...

So... you admit BVS didn't have good reception?

Legs are one of the best measure there is, the error some do is using only legs in term of percentage of first weekend and not looking at the absolute numbers also.

Look for a really clear example of that, if we use OW multiplier to judge audience reception of the hunger games:

Rank Title (click to view) Studio Gross / Theaters Opening / Theaters Legs Ratio
3 The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 LGF $337,135,885 $121,897,634 $215,238,251 2.76573
4 The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 LGF $281,723,902 $102,665,981 $179,057,921 2.744082
1 The Hunger Games: Catching Fire LGF $424,668,047 $158,074,286 $266,593,761 2.686509
2 The Hunger Games LGF $408,010,692 $152,535,747 $255,474,945 2.674853

Now absolute legs:

Rank Title (click to view) Studio Gross / Theaters Opening / Theaters Legs Ratio
1 The Hunger Games: Catching Fire LGF $424,668,047 $158,074,286 $266,593,761 2.686509
2 The Hunger Games LGF $408,010,692 $152,535,747 $255,474,945 2.674853
3 The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 LGF $337,135,885 $121,897,634 $215,238,251 2.76573
4 The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 LGF $281,723,902 $102,665,981 $179,057,921 2.744082

I think the second list is close to reality.

It is important to watch out to not "hurt" a movie big first weekend or reward is low opening weekend when looking at legs, specially now that audience reception is so fast that the saturday/sunday number are starting to be affect by the reception, it is not starting the week after when people talk at work/schools about the movies they have seen last weekend.

THE BOX is okay. Worth seeing for sure. I didn't have the same takeaway that @filmlover did, but it's bleak for sure.

The movie ends with

Spoiler

Frank Langella making Cameron Diaz and James Marsden's son blind and deaf and locking him in the bathroom screaming at the pain he's in from them so that they could make the choice between Marsden shooting Diaz and letting their son get senses back or she lives and they both have to live with their son living that way. And in the end Diaz makes Marsden shoot herself because she can't live watching her son go through that, and Marsden gets arrested for her murder while the son goes to live with relatives (and Langella does the same cycle with another family). Whether that message about being deaf/blind was his intention or not, it sure did come out the wrong way.

It's F CinemaScore grade makes perfect sense, in retrospect.

As a Donnie Darko fan, The Box was very disappointing.

Do you dislike any movies?  Legitimate question.

Well, i get bored with some dramas, comedies or action-flicks.

Fifty Shades of Grey is one example. Glad it made money, but....it's just a mixed bag. A C+film at best. Liked the performances....but there were some crazy stuff going on there. At best......it's average, i suppose.

Also....the Twilight-films comes in my mind as well. As much as i defend that whole franchise and it's audience....even i know that the Twilight-films are not technically that good of movies. I liked some of the characters (Jacob Black & Edward Cullen, for example) and the CGI on the werewolves are well done, but then again....the films are just ok. Not good, not bad...they're just what they are. Nothing more, nothing less.

So yeah....i can dislike/hate a movie as well. But i still have my opinions on what i love & hate. What i like...i get the right to like. What i dislike or just found "Meh".....i get the right to that as well.

Agree. Legs though not a complete indicator of quality (there won't ever be a complete indicator of quality), help in coming close to an answer as long as you take into account other factors like absolute size, genre (good horror will mostly have worse legs than a bad animation), release period (December legs are better usually) and fan dom (original material vs non-oririnal/sequelitis/franchise front-loading).
