Alpha
Well, here we go. As a disclaimer, the first few weeks of Year 1 are going to have holdovers from 2016, as Year 1 begins with the 2017 calendar. However, I won't be including films that had large expansions into the Top 12. Here's a list: Hidden Figures La La Land A Monster Calls Patriots Day Live by Night January's actuals will be up in a moment. Grab your popcorn. 4

Xillix
Honestly with a $60 million budget and a decent likelihood to do well overseas - not that bad for Captain Planet. The Artificial Age is obviously a domestic bomb which is not unexpected, but again, foreign audiences eat up Anderson's nonsense for some reason, so who knows? Alpha
February 3-5 This weekend was the big game, and because of that, moviegoers decided to stay home and watch the Patriots duke it out with the Falcons than show up to the multiplex. Because of that, high school football drama White Jerseys entered in at #1 with a half-decent but unimpressive $11.6 million. Clearly, more people wanted to watch actual football live than watch other actors pretend to play football on-screen. Uwe Boll was back on his bullshit this weekend as The Devil's Hitman bombed with only $1.4 million. Expect it to get pulled out of theaters pretty quickly, unless national controversy arrises when Mr. Boll assaults a local box-office worker for selling so few tickets, in which case it will continue to drop off at the same rate. 1. White Jerseys - $11,619,925 (NEW) (1st week) 2. Captain Planet - $5,817,082 (-49.0%) (3rd week) 3. SOMA - $4,988,285 (-51.3%) (3rd week) 4. Sing - $4,052,190 (-36.8%) (7th week) 5. Lion - $3,760,097 (+60.1%) (11th week) 6. Timmy's Winter Vacation - $3,128,902 (-46.0%) (4th week) 7. The Artificial Age - $3,120,024 (-68.7%) (2nd week) 8. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story - $2,922,879 (-44.6%) (8th week) 9. The Devil's Hitman - $1,387,973 (NEW) (1st week) 10. Moana - $1,337,481 (-46.1%) (11th week) February 10-12 After a few weeks of a quiet winter box office, this was the first big weekend at the box office with three new releases. Two of them, horror anthology The SCP Foundation and the action-packed video game adaptation Mirror's Edge debuted strongly, rolling in at $50.8 million and $37.1 million, respectively. Plenty of pre-release hype combined with critical acclaim meant a major box-office success for SCP, while Mirror's Edge stood out as one of the first "tentpoles" of the year. Both received a "B+" CinemaScore. Meanwhile, Poison and Wine had a decent debut at $15.3 million. The romantic drama was faced with mixed to negative prior to it's release, and its strong sexual content pushed more descerning viewers away from making it a Valentine's Day sensation. It received a "B-" CinemaScore. 1. The SCP Foundation - $50,815,929 (NEW) (1st week) 2. Mirror's Edge - $37,124,239 (NEW) (1st week) 3. Poison and Wine - $15,293,858 (NEW) (1st week) 4. White Jerseys - $6,124,895 (-47.3%) (2nd week) 5. Lion - $3,950,610 (+5.1%) (12th week) 6. SOMA - $2,912,481 (-41.6%) (4th week) 7. Captain Planet - $2,877,092 (-50.5%) (4th week) 8. Timmy's Winter Vacation - $2,004,578 (-35.9%) (5th week) 9. Sing - $1,703,625 (-58.0%) (8th week) 10. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story - $1,495,988 (-48.8%) (9th week) February 17-20 (President's Day Weekend) Fending off two strong holdovers, the Tattooed Teenage Alien Fighters from Beverly Hills took the top spot on a lively President's Day weekend, with a four-day debut of $30.6 million. The problem? Audiences expecting a contemporary, if satirical superhero team-up left the theater disappointed by the film's twist ending, which was bound to alienate moviegoers. It ended up receiving a "C" CinemaScore, which is surprising considering the decent reaction it got from critics. Maybe it'll become a cult favorite down the line. The SCP Foundation and Mirror's Edge both kept their momentum over the four-day weekend, while the psychological thriller Best Friends Forever entered at #4 with $16.4 million over it's first four days, most likely overshadowed by the more prescient horror entry in SCP. 1. Tattooed Teenage Alien Fighters from Beverly Hills - $24,250,095 / $30,567,124 (NEW) (1st week) 2. The SCP Foundation - $22,923,395 (-54.0%) (2nd week) 3. Mirror's Edge - $20,972,694 (-43.5%) (2nd week) 4. Best Friends Forever - $13,859,955 / $16,368,870 (NEW) (1st week) 5. Poison and Wine - $8,100,124 (-47.0%) (2nd week) 6. Lion - $4,203,529 (+6.4%) (13th week) 7. White Jerseys - $3,914,126 (-36.1%) (3rd week) 8. Captain Planet - $2,410,234 (-16.2%) (5th week) 9. Timmy's Winter Vacation - $2,135,125 (+6.5%) (6th week) 10. SOMA - $1,992,370 (-31.6%) (5th week) February 24-26 For the makers of Runaway: A Road Adventure, it was a disappointing weekend. The action comedy landed at the bottom of most expectations with $14.8 million, and word-of-mouth that was hardly enthusiastic (it received a measly "C+" CinemaScore). Audiences, left with negative reception from critics and confusing marketing that failed to differentiate the film's action from comedy, instead found the quirky western BraveStarr the more appealing feature, giving it $18.1 million this weekend. 1. BraveStarr - $18,130,276 (NEW) (1st week) 2. Runaway: A Road Adventure - $14,810,570 (NEW) (1st week) 3. The SCP Foundation - $12,087,125 (-47.3%) (3rd week) 4. Mirror's Edge - $10,515,971 (-49.9%) (3rd week) 5. Tattooed Teenage Alien Fighters from Beverly Hills - $8,952,955 (-63.1%) (2nd week) 6. Best Friends Forever - $5,299,711 (-61.8%) (2nd week) 7. Lion - $3,832,257 (-8.8%) (14th week) 8. Poison and Wine - $2,804,990 (-65.4%) (3rd week) 9. White Jerseys - $2,010,149 (-48.6%) (4th week) 10. Timmy's Winter Vacation - $1,310,982 (-38.6%) (7th week)

Xillix
Given TTAFFBH's low budget it'll probably be fine unless it totally bombs overseas. As likely as it is to flop considering the mixed reaction to the first one, Ta2ed Teenage Alien Fighters from Beverly Hills is probably a go
