Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw | August 2 2019 | 17th most profitable movie of 2019

Wow, this bombed REALLY bad! :) A great new win for the Shay, in his smashing string of summer victories!

Too bad dumb movies can always count on Latin America (and sometimes China) to save them via the OS.

String of victories? What about your club, Endgame < Infinity War, which was a massive failure?

Really? He really went there? He's being no better than internet fanboys, announcing his glee at what he perceives to be a failure of a film he does not support at the box office.

Geez, what the hell happened behind the scenes that got the crew so pressed??

Lol, Shay is trying so hard to seem smart here. Might be the first time I've seen him talk actual box-office (but of course everything he is saying here is wrong). Funny that he hasn't replied to any of the rebuttals to the crappy points he made.

And of course he makes a racist comment too.

I'm not sure which orifice you're pulling your figures from, but the average legs domestic is 2.3-2.4x for a F&F movie. That would put it at 141M. I can't be arsed to look up what it does legs-wise OS so lets just use that 2.3 as a base line, which puts OS at 282M, combined together for 423M.

Remaining markets with figures dropped equally from F8 to Hobbs as in America (-35%):

China - $255M

France - $20M

Belgium - $4M

Italy - $11M

So altogether this pessimistic prediction, ignoring the fact the movie has 0 competition for an entire month, would put Hobbs & Shaw at $713M. So how is $750M unlikely?

And since when did anything under $750M mean a bomb?

Hobbs&Shaw will open in SK on Wednesday 14th.

Also, look at what site Tyrese had to fish up in order to be this petty... Lowyat.com? Anyone else here ever even heard of it?

https://www.lowyat.net/2019/190999/hobbs-shaw-fast-furious-box-office/

But over at  the industry trade magazines Variety and The Hollywood Reporter...

https://variety.com/2019/film/news/box-office-fast-furious-hobbs-shaw-successful-spinoffs-1203291063/

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/box-office-hobbs-shaw-revs-61m-us-181m-globally-1229082

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/hobbs-shaw-can-dwayne-johnson-relaunch-new-fast-furious-era-1229122

So... Tyrese is trolling low rent scab sites for inflammatory headlines, while industry magazines are openly wondering if Dwayne Johnson has "rebooted" Fast & Furious with the spinoff....

I'm in India for the summer holidays and Indian cinemas and censor boards are such ass. I'm literally just 2 and half months away from becoming 18 but I'm not allowed to watch Hobbs and Shaw (which is rated 18+ in India btw because of swearing).

Well, whatever I guess. I'm just gonna watch Once Upon a Time in Hollywood when I get back home next week and wait for VOD to watch this.

Tyrese and @shayhiri are probably two of the greatest Hobbs and Shaw haters.

They are gonna be a better dynamic duo than Hobbs and Shaw.

Not a bomb by any means, but certainly an underperformance for the franchise. Maybe it would have done better if they called it Furious 9 instead?

but it isn't Furious 9, because it doesn't have the main crew. This is a spin-off which they want to have two franchises running at the same time.

When does this open in China again? I'm curious to see how much this will rack up there.

If it can do about 2/3 of F8's business domestically (roughly $150.7M) and overseas (roughly $673.3M) I would consider that pretty damn good for a spin-off. In fact it wouldn't even need to go that high overseas to be a very successful spin-off, but it's attainable if China is huge.

$150M is my personal target for domestic gross, which would be a 2.5x multi. Again, pretty doable.

23 August - three weeks time.
