The video is from 2015 when the album came out and this was Rock's fun way of actually giving him a shout-out. Now Tyrese has re-posted and is giving the wrong impression...

This is a good thing for he franchise.  Getting it pushed back to 2020 is actually really good.  And if Tyrese had any rudimentary understanding of the business of film, then he'd agree.  

 

The Fast films blew up after the Rock came aboard.  When Paul died, it had it's biggest gross WW.  Now with him gone, it still did really well internationally but came back down to earth in NA.  So now you have a spin off with two characters everyone likes and maybe this will give the series a bit of a boost.  There's nothing wrong with spicing things up a bit and if Tyrese just thinks about it for a bit, he'll realize that is exactly what the series did with Fast Five.  For a series like this to have gotten more popular over the years is a testament to Universal not afraid to take chances.  The Fast films aren't going to gross a billion internationally forever.  So they mix it up a bit.  You get the spin off, let people enjoy these two guys outside of the rest of the cast and then presumably, the next Fast film will do even better in NA.

 

Seems pretty cut and dried to me.

if his feuding with DJ is still fresh in people's minds, the studio would be well advised to have their characters go against each other and emulate the real life tiff. that way it can partially become a marketing gimmick for the movie, else it's a bit too negative and bitter.
