probably a little of both

It is definitely both, there is a certain audience that would not go to theater without it and there is people that wait tuesday that would have gone otherwise for sure also.

Is it only beneficial from a food&drink point of view but not box office, probably not easy to calculate.

What can we expect for Blade Runner 2049 going forward?

Is 100M a possibility?

With the complete lack of competition until Thor that should make it easy to keep screen and is giant amount of theater and looking at those 2 previous movies curve:

Elysium legs would put Blade Runner at 102m, that said it is dangerous to compare movies with summer days to an october release and so on, so not a given.

Yeah, BR2049 will leg its way to 100M but the studio should really scarp the sequel plans. They barely got away this time around, they won't next time.

Stop being accountants, people. We should hope they don't scrap the sequels. Not that i have much hope...

Eh, I think that the sequel would be much inferior to previous 2 movies cause the story would go into super cliche direction (created by BR2049). And if Ford + Gosling couldn't open big, Ford + Swiss Soap Star certainly wouldn't.

Such a shame to see Blade Runner not doing big numbers, so strange too since people seem to really love sci-fi.

People like fun, uplifting, colorful space opera.

Depressing, cerebral dystopian stuff? Not so much.

It's going to need serious award consideration and people giving a fuck about those awards cause right now it's running 3m ahead of The Mummy at the same point in time and that made 80m
