Yeah. I'm as cynical about studios as anyone but what I don't understand is essentially killing and burying your own movie - that you already poured an eight-figure budget into - by not allowing the director to do something as basic as finish shooting the script. I mean, what?

Shades of Dream House from 6 years ago (which also had a troubled production and the film's stars - Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz, Naomi Watts - all quietly bowed out of promoting it).

That's once again, very very solid for Madea.  TP has his audience and knows it.  Next year's 'Acrimony' starring Taraji P Henson will be one of his largest OW ever.  Can definitely seeing that being vastly under predicted and pushing 35-40 million.

And it's not like it was a potential blockbuster or anything, it's about a serial killer, that's not exactly "audience friendly". It boggles my mind, and a lot of this apparently happened in post too. Just imagine if Scorsese had decided to direct the film like he originally intended, it could have been better, and wouldn't have been as rushed. Mess!

I can see it being solid counterprogramming to Ready Player One

I remember that, the trailer gave away the big twist and I remember thinking “If the trailer is giving this twist away, they must have a bigger twist to conceal”. Turns out there wasn’t.

I haven't looked much into Acrimony but I don't expect more than 50-60M. Proud Mary will be Taraji's vehicle of the year.

Wreck-It Ralph 2 will obviously be the biggest movie she's in next year but yeah, Proud Mary's gonna do very well I think.

Proud Mary is going to be a lot younger skewing than people think. My audience at HDD yesterday was entirely teens and it had great reactions. It got good reactions from younger people in the Girls Trip audiemce a few months ago too.

I'll say this: Liam Neeson needs to beware of the Cookie Monster and get the fuck off January 12. The trailer never really gets strong reactions and has been laughed at two of the times I've gotten it, and it has direct competition with both The Post's wide expansion and Proud Mary. The end of January would be a better date.

There’s also the fact that audiences seem to get less interested in watching a movie when Fassbender is in it

Seems like a one-sided poll,  as I can't imagine most even care about Fassbender's name. I think if Fassbender was in a well-received blockbusters / films with a decent hook, then audience would see it regardless, as DOFP technically proved. He just happens to have bad luck with his "wide released major" film choices.

I think it's awful. But Fassbender is the only real reason to see it.

He had some reshoot time and even with it, he could not fix it apparently.

The cutting your lost strategy over a movie that do not work is not necessarily a bad one, and they did seem to have maximized the Norway tax credit already.

It is hard to distinguish if it is :

1) People are less interested about a movie if they hear someone they do not know is the star than when it was just unknown who it would be

2) Do not like him

3) Imagined a list of possible name they would have preferred when the question came up and he was just not has popular than those in their heads.

Fassbender suffers from Colin Farrell syndrome: a character actor cast in leading man roles because of his looks. He'll never be a draw, but I've always found him very watchable.

Naw, he is amazing in Steve Jobs. He steals 12 Years of Slaver as a fucking slaveowner. He has amazing chops. He needs a better agent to get him the right parts. He needs to be more like Daniel Day-Lewis and be much much much more discerning with choosing his roles.

Audience score on RT for Geo is already rotten at 56% :sparta:. Unusual to be rotten on OD itself.

Usually movies start off at least somewhat positive and then keep on slipping once the fans (eg: disaster porn fans in this case, or Butler fans - all 5 of them) are done with the movie.
