When mods read reported posts out of context sometimes they look worst than they were intended.  Sometimes there is a quick trigger by the mods in on topics that are traditionally troublesome.  Different mods will have different trigger points on certain topics.

 

The best thing to do when you feel you have been unfairly warned/banned is contact an Admin.   I know I when I am contacted I'll go read a page or 2 before/after the offending post to gain a better context of why the post was reported and why the warning was given.  

 

As far as MPR goes.... I was active in the OW numbers thread and movie thread.  Other than 1 or 2 posts I hid I didn't find anything to toxic.  Speaking negatively about a movies BO is not automatically poisoning the well.

Honestly, say whatever you want about Fantastic Beasts. There were a dozen of vitiolic comments this time around too and I never even responed. It's just movies gals just get a life and ignore comments that frustrate you.

As for the second argument, probably true but usually it's the fanboys who aren't mature and can't take much criticism. I don't think anybody else will get super angry if anybody calls a movie he likes a flop.

At least to my eyes, the problem is created more from people who choose to argue with users who are noticably trolling or joking. Just don't respond and there won't be a problem.

I get annoyed if a movie gets called a flop (especially in the way it happened the last 2-3 weeks) or numbers get twisted.... implying strange and partially maybe even hurting things (to other members but also about professionals) also for movies I do neither like nor even being interested in.

 

What in some of the International threads and some dailies/certain film threads happened here and partially in China (more 2 or 3 weeks back than this weekend I think) ... got written was partially way more annoying than the usual trolling / over the top fanatic.

It felt at one or two days even a bit like a horde of newbies fell in and supported each other, collecting quite some post counts in such a short time (of the negative version)

Btw this time it wasn't fans of MPR that got that much angry about the posts, it was mostly a group of AQM that got angry for e.g. the clubs (high MPR,...) early on making it look like - according to them - that the people there had said AQM will flop, be bad... whatever by guessing MPR high.... and then there were the newbies that got very angry for, starting with MPR, later other films too, 'taking away from AQM' for getting too many screens for non-AQM films and whatever, formulated in a way that showed in my  POV how much they still have to learn about BO and manners in a forum

Lordmandeep has openly trolled Star Wars threads for the past year, bringing up how people hate Last Jedi at the slightest mention of anything. That's not even mentioning similar stuff he's been doing in the Captain Marvel thread. This stirring of the pot has been going on for years. A few threadbans, fewer suspensions, no ban.

 

Napoleon has gone out of his way to troll MCU and the Fantastic Beasts threads, has tried to start fan wars and conspiracy theories multiple times, and has even stated that people who say anything negative about Zack Snyder should burn in hell. This stirring of the pot has been going on for years. Few threadbans, fewer suspensions, no ban.

 

GraceRandolph has also started up flame wars, and has gone out of her way to attack DCEU fans, as well as Gaga fans. This has been going on for months. Few threadbans, no suspensions, no ban.

 

But when Nova, a poster who has had zero infractions or trouble-causing and is generally well-liked by the community dares to make a mild joke about Aquaman's box office, he gets an instant threadban. Even after people like Manny G have gone on for days with concern trolling over both Poppins and Bumblebee. He gets nothing, while Nova has an instant slap on the wrist?

 

Need I remind you that your guidelines state "no trolling allowed?"

 

 

I'd at least be okay with Nova's threadban if you had harsher punishments for these figures and the stuff they've done, but you haven't. At most, you've given them a mild threadban, despite doing much, much worse for months, even years. Hell, why did I not get a threadban, when I did similar things on page 6 in the weekend thread? You're seriously gonna hit Nova over a harmless joke, when others have done far worse?

 

Great priorities guys. Good to know you don't care about making this place a fun, non-toxic forum.

 

I'm just going to reply that we'll be taking this post into consideration for the future since you are 100% right. I know the threadban was rescinded already but you are right that we can improve our enforcement of rule breaking to make this site a more fun place.
