it'd be weird if he was attending. he must be busy that night. OTHERWISE why wouldn't the academy have offered him the chance to host the show in character as buster scruggs? that'd be an odd oversight.

I mean, they keep pretending that they don't have a host but surely if ol' T.B.N is available...

at the very least he'll be in the orchestra pit to perform the playoff music for when the speeches run longer than 20 seconds. everyone gets their own surly joe esque ditty.

Whatever happened to Tim Blake Nelson's sequel tease at the end of Ed Norton's Hulk?! Wasn't he meant to be some bad guy in an MCU film after that? I think he's with DC now, so idk if they want him back.

Was the best part of Buster Scruggs, so it's a shame he's not singing live :L

The Academy is clueless if they think changing the ceremony will make the Oscars get its relevance back. The problem is not the ceremony, but their inability to reward the actual best films. Why would audiences care about an award that considers Spotlight and Moonlight the best movies of the year. We as a society have a clear Best Picture unofficially elected each year, movies that will go down in history as the ones we remember from being the best from that year, like, Mad Max Fury Road, La La Land, Wonder Woman and Second Act from the past few years. I have no idea how they can fix that, considering it's an election, but that's the problem right there. And creating a condescendent "Best Popular Picture" category won't be it.

Since there's no objective way to determine this, their procedure is as good as any. The problem is people somehow keep making the Oscars the ultimate arbiter for everything.

Just enjoy when the films you like get recognized and feel free to ignore the Academy's choices when they don't.

Since the episodes are being released weekly and there's 15 of them I'm gonna wait until they're all available by the end of May and binge it over the summer.

Makes sense. It's surprisingly solid, definitely the best thing DC's ever done on TV by a country mile. Fraiser is the MVP, but Bomer's solid too.

The Academy is gonna give all the oscars for a movie 5000 people saw in theaters.

Of course they lost the plot badly.

The Oscars have become of monstrosity combining Identity  politics and  hipster mentality.

Horryfying.
