Can someone give me an explanation for the ABC grades as used here at BOT?

I've seen different ones in the net

Like

A = ?/10 - 10/10

B =

C =

D =

F =

Means a + or a - something like 0.5 or 0.25 or ?

EDIT: A more detailed version

A+ = 10/10

A  = 9/10 - 10/10

A- = 8.5/10 - 9/10

B+ = 7.5/10- 8.5/10

B = 7/10 - 7.5/10

B- = 6.5/10- 7/10

C+= 6/10- 6.5/10

C = 5.5/10 - 6/10

C-= 5/10 - 5.5/10

D+=4.5/10 - 5/10

D= 3.5/10- 4.5/10

D- = 3/10 - 3.5/10

F = 0/10 - 3/10

Thank you both very much.

We do not use letter for grading in school, we use numbers, I've seen so many versions in the web

For me...

Yes, there's no D-, but really is there even from a teacher?:)

are you a teacher too (me part time, only for a few subjects)?

My roots are in tech

Merged, 1st Darth Lehnsherr than TwoMisfits, next is Teles (textform)

A+ = 10/10 + 10 + -

A  = 9/10 - 10/10 + 10 + loved it

A- = 8.5/10 - 9/10 + 9 + -

B+ = 7.5/10- 8.5/10 + 8 + -

B = 7/10 - 7.5/10 + 7 + liked it

B- = 6.5/10- 7/10 + 6 + -

C+= 6/10- 6.5/10 + 5 + -

C = 5.5/10 - 6/10 + 4 + pretty mixed, don’t really feel like I liked or hated it

C-= 5/10 - 5.5/10 + 3 + -

D+=4.5/10 - 5/10 + 2 + -

D= 3.5/10- 4.5/10 + 1 + didn’t like it

D- = 3/10 - 3.5/10 + - + -

F = 0/10 - 3/10  + 0 + hated it

As deeper the level as bigger the differences,  as higher, as nearer.

Very interesting.

I shy away from the review  thread as there are not the for me common e.g. 6.5/10 ratings possible

Does an unpaid high school debate coach count?:)  Yes, I have taught and tutored in the past, but right now, I do it for no pay:).  It's the joy of kids:)...

Any plus or minus is basically if I feel more weakly or strongly than one particular grade.

Needless to say, more movies feel the wrath of those last two grades from you than the first three.

It does to me. I do a mix, part paid, part voluntary work. Voluntary: I run a school library specialised for dyslexics and English at a ~ special school. To find The Book to get a non-reading-voluntarily pupil to start to read without pressure, that's my goal. The most of them read anyway, but some not. Out of those I get 1/2 to read. Not always with the material teachers or parents expect ;)Some of my former pupils also come to visit, some since years. It makes and gives so much fun and joy. A few of the older ones love to poke me till I tell them some more details out of my former a bit unusual live. See e.g. working as a female part-time weekend bouncer in the '70 and '80. Driving  with the motorcycle through many countries at not the best chosen dates (friends asked till I was about 35 where I'll drive to during vacation... so they'll be at another place. No joke. After that live turned to normal. Mostly)

Debating is part of one of the subjects, another is media, that includes discussions, and e.g. comparisons, like between book and movie, or between TV-series and movie or..... A third subject I do as needed. Those 3 are the paid ones. But I do other paid wok there also.

If positive its a 6-10/10

Totally legit in my POV. It says positive.

Might look funny in a chart

Yes, they "exist." Captain Marvel has brought them all out of the woodwork recently.

I think he said somewhere he liked it?

Beside I am assuming you are joking:

one doesn't exclude the other, men also get attacked, abused, raped... a lot more than the average person might think.

The diff is:

one fights for the right e.g. get a secure situation,..., the other fights for taking away rights from others, not respecting others in the full meaning.... very roughly simplified

It's up to each individual user what their grade means. There is no uniform standard.

me tech based, maths lover, pattern seeker. And German. Might start a chart and develop a standard ;) (for now not, but its interesting to see how much the system varies per person)

edit: such a chart might  even be helpful. Maybe less hysteria, of someone dares to give a B, when its obviously ... fill in. Like to show / remind ppl about the ratings might mean something else for another person, no need for 'war'  between friends
