The back spire has collapsed entirely.

For comparison

The two bell towers seem to be so safe from the fire so far though.

@CJohn TVI LOST SUNDAY. 17.8% vs. SIC's 18.1%. HIS. FUCKING. TORY.

And Stripped continues its road towards the Flop of the Decade title: 7.2% rating and just over 16% share last night. Farmer hit 12.7% rating and 27% share.

Now Belmonte is going to 2PM as Maria Madalena is in its final week. Amor Maior is a flop, so that's about the 1st real shot TVI has to turn things around somewhere.... but even there, I doubt it does good, because Belmonte wasn't promoted at all and AM is basically just retaining Mar Salgado's results (although it hit a miserable 12% share on Thursday.... yikes).

And that's not all, because SIC is starting promotion on their newest soap (which they're promoting as a series, but it's a soap), Golpe de Sorte, which is presumably going to replace Vidas Opostas. Killer cast, killer hook and killer conditions to be a hit. Only issue is it's produced by the same people behind the new Inspetor Max, which sucks, but whatever. TVI also has two new soaps coming up. One of them, Prisioneira, is to replace Valor da Vida, and is from the writer of A Herdeira and A Única Mulher, with one of the best casts ever assembled for one of our soaps. It's probably going to be huge. On the other hand, the replacement to A Teia, Segredos Que Matam, looks uninteresting and clichéd, despite it too having a good cast, so even on the primetime, TVI is bound to lose the leadership sooner than later

They need to pull Stripped. They need to find a new solution for Sundays fast. Belmonte is gonna flop, it had zero promotion and it starts on episode 6.

Meanwhile, yeah, A Prisioneira is gonna be fucking massive but they can't air it 24/7, and from what you have described Segredos Que Matam is a bomb waiting to happen.

They needed nearly 200 years to build it (begin in 1163) one of the earliest Gothic cathedrals

Had to rebuild parts repeatedly (revolution damaged some, WWII too)

The Spire's wooden construktion was from the 13th century and 96 meters high

Inside is enough room for around 10000 people.

I am very afraid for the huge windows (from 1225, 1250, and 1260)

Some of the colours they do not even know how to produce them anymore, so much knowledge gets lost every year for modernisation,... not enough specialists can live from their profession since way too long a time

is Portuguese tv supposed to be the schedule of reality tv and soaps for women to stay home and watch and follow with their kids during the day while the men work?

does sports outside of soccer dominate daily tv schedule too?

is reality tv really a social experiment?  (reality tv, like religion, is invisible to me)

I know down at the beach, some women get really anal about defending the scheduled programmings.

does reality tv help with formal education?....in other words, does it help to have your reaction recorded when you learn something new?...like to know God is watching you as you try to smile while reading

The destruction of history is always a tragedy, no matter if the victim is living or material. What is happening to Notre Dame is absolutely catastrophic.

Hopefully they can rebuild and recreate all of it as accurately as they can, but it'll never be quite the same thing.

Yeah, at this point Valor da Vida is a better option for Sundays. Albeit A Teia is doing results worthy of Who Wants To Marry My Son at 11PM on Sundays (even if its lead in is strongly to blame), so even that is no guarantee. They have Goucha's mystery new reality show coming up.... some say it's Big Brother VIP. Either way, I wouldn't trust that either, because SIC is mad strong on Sunday nights now. Both Married At First Sight and The Farmer Wants A Wife are guaranteed to have a second season now, and Farmer's may come directly after the end of the 1st one (kinda like what TVI did with some Secret Story and Your Face Sounds Familiar seasons). Sadly, O Carro do Amor (whose translation is actually not Driven To Love, it's actually some random German format no one cares about) will also have a season 2, maybe during the summer. We'll see what happens.

And yeah, A Prisioneira is going to be huge...... however, if SIC promotes Golpe de Sorte well, and I know they will, that one is a hit waiting to happen as well. Especially if they use Cristina to market the ever loving shit out of it, like they did with The Farmer Wants A Wife, and Farmer turned out to be a juggernaut. TVI is also Godawful promotion-wise. So we'll see. Segredos Que Matam will likely bomb and lose A Teia's leadership, regardless of facing Golpe de Sorte or Alma e Coração. It has A Teia's hook of a whodunit mystery, but its plot is so dull sounding that I just don't see anyone caring much about it.

TVI is such a disaster right now in everything. I am shocked by all of this. It is clear they weren't even trying to win before.

They will throw all the cast into Cristina and Júlia's shows. That is the secret to start winning in other timeslots.

I went on wiki just after the fire started and read a paragraph about the towers before they actually fell and it read "which was destroyed in the April 2019 fire".

Jeez they get wiki updated quick these days.

Why do atheists care?

Because it's a landmark and cathedrals that old carry a great deal of history not just of their own but of the surrounding area and the architectural philosophy of the time?

Why? So many famous buildings are reconstructions, most people don't even know. Notre Dame will be rebuilt, and it will be as magnificent as it was.

BBC is apparently reporting that the stained glass is destroyed... All of these things have survived for so long. Feels like a huge loss to see it all gone because of an accident.
