Gopher
Even 2012's relatively lousy weekends aren't that bad. Wanderlust and Gone outright bombed, but Valor did really well for a two hour recruitment ad, and Deeds did really well for a Tyler Perry film where he doesn't cross-dress. BK007
Seems like an awful weekend when the holdovers are dropping 50-60% when 2 openers bomb and 2 are niche as fuck.
kyky
Agh, Gone flopped. But on the bright side, Amanda Seyfried is probably the only actress her age who studios trust to headline movies on her own on the regular. Older, more proven actresses need male co-stars. She has talent and her box office appeal, while limited for now, can expand. I'm gonna use big words, but she may be the next Meryl Streep, but with more BO pull. That's the craziest thing I've read in a while, are you her agent? Her acting isn't even remotely close to being as good as Streep. Also, I'm not sure how much studios are going to let her headline movies anymore now. Edited February 26, 2012 by FTF

kyky
Lol no. she doesnt have box office pull. this is her third lead and 2 of them have been flopsBut obviously studios see the potential. Or else they wouldn't give her so many chances.
boxofficeth
Will TPM 3D have a 2.0x multiplier?Hopefully, it will. But it might fall short of 45m, if it loses so many theaters to the Lorax this wknd and JC next week.I wonder if it would fare better were it released in January,

RichWS
I don't get Amanda Seyfried at all, but moving on! I should have figured Valor wouldn't have much of a Saturday bump. Another terrific hold by Journey 2. Not a terrible weekend overall. It's the last weekend of February; it is what it is.

How can she be the "next Meryl Streep, but with more BO pull," when, A- She is not even in the same galaxy as Meryl, talent-wise, and B- Streep's last 5 films have grossed over 400 million dollars, while Seyfried's last five films have grossed a little under 200 million? Not to mention that the appeal of Mamma Mia!, in which they actually worked together, was all about ABBA's songs, the Broadway musical's worldwide popularity, and Meryl Streep. rb02
I thought that (Red Riding Hood) was probably it, but that was most certainly not a flop. It exceeded the prod budget domestically, and did more than double it WW. If that ratio is a flop, then probably about 70% of wide releases are flops.
