CAYOM YEAR 2 - PART I - MOVIE SUBMISSION

Recommended Posts

This is the thread to submit films for Year 2 of CAYOM 3.0! The release calendar is below. It's pre-filled with the specified films from the Advance Schedule Thread, but you will still need to make posts for those movies with details about them. You can also submit your fillers here. Note that, unless the film was a tentpole that was scpecified in the Advance Schedule Thread (and thus is already listed here), you are not allowed to post movies in this thread until they are completed - with full cast and release info and however complete a plot summary you plan on giving them. Keep in mind that directors are limited to one major film or two small films a year and that actors should be limited to a realistic number of projects as well.

To submit a film, make a post in this thread including the relevant information.

Required info includes:

Title:

Director:

Genre:

Release Date:

Major Cast:

Theater Count:

MPAA Rating:

Runtime:

Production Budget:

Plot Summary: (Can be as short or detailed as you wish)

If you do not have all of this information finalized, you should not post the film in this thread until you do. Films posted without all this info will not be added to the release calendar in this first post.

You can also optionally include other relevant information like producers, composers, the name of the releasing studio (if you are using your own fictional studios), special formats for release (like IMAX or 3D), even custom taglines or posters if you wish. None of this is required to post your film and it can be added after you first post if you so choose.

Limited releases are allowed, and they can expand into additional theaters on a week-by-week basis. You will need to specify when the film expands and how many theaters it goes into each week, up until the final expansion that is the widest it will go.

I've included some typical midweek release dates around holidays and such. If you want to release a movie on a weekday in some other week, go right ahead and just specify it in the post for that movie. I'll add that day to the release calendar.

This post will be updated regularly with new additions. If available, you can click on the title of a film in the release calendar to go straight to its post.

The schedule is DONE and LOCKED!  Have fun with Part II people!

The film opens with six friends having a one year college reunion together. The film introduces us to Dawson who just returned back from training with the military and also just got engaged to his fiancee Rachel. McKenzi who has dropped out of school because of low grades and she is focusing on her Youtube career. Callie who has begun her job in the city working as a teacher. Tyler who is a police officer. Frank who is a flight attendant and got the job because he struggled to find one in the job market. They meet up at a beautiful hotel in New York City. After exchanging greetings, they head up to the stunning suite. It is the only suite on the floor and is located at the very top of the hotel. They head to dinner and discuss what has happened to them in the past year. They also laugh about the stories they had from college.

Upon returning from dinner, they begin to drinking and play some games. During their time drinking, they each begin noticing oddities in the suite. The oddities include hearing footsteps while in the bathroom but nobody is there. They also notice stains on the walls and floor, however they dismiss these and do not share the oddities with anybody. They decided to go out for a night out around the town. McKenzi blogs the night on her camera for her Youtube channel.

They return back at 1:30am and play some party games. Rachel suggests they play Bloody Mary. The all laugh at her and say no but she convinces them to play. They do Bloody Mary in the large bathroom. As they do the game, the mirror begins to melt and bloody pours down the walls. Bloody and magma seep out of the floor. A woman’s burnt hand reaches out of the mirror toward the group of friends. McKenzi turns the light on after and everything disappears. The group of friends didn’t see anything. They laugh and leave the bathroom.

Rachel says she is going to the lobby to get some water, because their is no vending machine on the floor. Rachel leaves the suite and heads into the elevator. She gets a creepy feeling and begins to panic for no reason. The elevator misses the lobby and takes her to the basement. She steps out the elevator and sees two workers at the end of the hall. She asks them where the vending machine is. They turn and stare at her quietly. She asks again and the two men point at her. She turns around and see a grotesque burnt/decaying woman.  Rachel screams and runs into the elevator panicking. She frantically hits the elevator buttons but they don’t work. She hears nothing and peeps out of the elevator. She sees nothing. Suddenly the doors of the elevator slam shut and she screams and lunges back in the elevator. The lights go out and all we hear is a scream.

Meanwhile the others begin to notice Rachel is missing so Dawson and McKenzi go to find her. They get in the elevator and it malfunctions and plummets. Dawson and McKenzi scream in terror as it drops. It then opens up in the basement. Lying in front of them is a mangled body of Rachel. Dawson screams in horror and cradles Rachel’s dead body. The body of Rachel suddenly changes and it is the burnt woman. Dawson lunges back and McKenzi screams and the two take off running only to be pursued by the spirit. Dawson and McKenzi manage to get back in the elevator and it takes them back to the top floor.

Meanwhile, the rest are getting haunted in the room. It is cold and ice is forming on the windows. Lights are flickering and knocking is heard on the door and they see feet outside of the door. They get nervous and think this might not be the alcohol. After the door unlocks and creaks opens, Tyler feels a breath on his back. No matter where he goes in the suite, he can’t get rid of the breath on his back.  Callie, Frank, and Tyler decide to leave the room. They head to the elevator but it doesn’t work. Suddenly, the doors fly open and Dawson and McKenzi appear. After calming down, each group shares their information. Callie says she has had enough and calls the police. Her call is dropped. The hallway gets cold and the lights go out. The glass shatters and the group scream. Callie tries to call again but her phone is unable to work because of the cold. The others try their phones but they find them in the same situation. Frank tries the elevator but it doesn’t work. Suddenly, hands burst of the elevator and shrieks of demons are heard. The group flee back to the suite and barricade themselves in. They decide to wait it out until morning.

Dawson grieves for Rachel in the suite. The remaining friends try to comfort him. Callie leaves to go to the bathroom. We suddenly hear her scream. The friends look up startled. Suddenly a possessed Callie bursts out of the bathroom. She rushes at the group but then stops. Frank asks who as possessed Callie. Callie says she is the spirit who possessed them. She says that she is the Grim Reaper in the flesh. Frank asks what it wants with them. The spirit says that the spirit has been cast out of Hell and roamed the earth waiting to return to Hell. The spirit says it settled in this hotel and has sat here over time, it saw the worst in humanity. The spirit says it saw several women get rape, drug lords, prostitutes, newly wedded couples make love only to ignore each other and divorce, young  adults drink and lack any sense of morality. The spirit says it grew disgusted at the sins of humanity and decided to drag the souls of guests of the room to Hell in order for the spirit to return to Hell. McKenzi says they haven’t done anything wrong. The spirit laughs. The spirit then leaves the body of Callie. The spirit spans out on the ceiling and dozens of arms appear. They reach down and grab each of the friends. Each person enters a trance like state. We then see from birth to present time each of the sins each person has done. Frank stealing, Dawson cheating on Rachel, Rachel using sex as a bribe, a sober Tyler having sex with a girl who is extremely drunk, Callie’s drug use, and McKenzi’s constant lying/deceiving others. The spirit’s arms release the individuals. The spirit lets out a shriek of rage and blasts through Tyler. Tyler collapses dead with a hole in the middle of his body. The spirit then turns and hurls Callie around the room in rage. Callie is then hurled out the window and falls to street dead.

Frank, McKenzi, and Dawson flee the room. The hallway shifts weirdly to the side and they almost enter into another dimension. The floor collapses and they are trapped against the wall. The floor is replaces with fire and smoke. Bodies of the dead and demons shriek in unending pain and agony. The wall begins to bleed and the hallway begins to rotate. Dawson, McKenzi, and Frank cling to the wall and the fixtures frantically. Dawson is knocked into hell. He claws his fingers away against the wall as he plummets. Suddenly, the hallway turns back to normal. Frank and McKenzi suddenly find themselves outside of the hotel. The spirit appears outside and pursues them throughout the city at night. The spirit says she will catch Frank and McKenzi even if it is slowly. Frank and McKenzi flee. Frank and McKenzi are the only people on the street who can see the spirit. Individual’s walking down the street look at Frank and McKenzi oddly. Frank flees into an alley and realizes he has no escape. Frank kills himself with a piece of glass and dies. The spirit roars in angry. It hurls Frank’s body against the wall crushing it. Meanwhile, McKenzi begins to go crazy and gives up running. McKenzi lets the spirit reach her. She has a forgiving moment. She confuses her wrongs and tells the spirit to take her. She says she deserves to die. McKenzi then collapses.

The film moves to her laying on the floor of the hotel suite. McKenzi wakes up and she finds the suite undamaged.  All trace of the others even their cloths and bags are gone. There is a knock on the door. It is the housekeeper. The housekeeper asks what McKenzi is doing in the room. McKenzi explains. The housekeeper says that only McKenzi checked into the room that day before. McKenzi confused and startled leaves the room. She takes the elevator down to the lobby. The elevator begins to act weird on the descent. McKenzi begins to panic as she realizes what is happening. Just as the doors open in the lobby, the ground of the elevator rips open and to the horror of all the onlookers, McKenzi is pulled into hell by the spirit. The guests and onlookers shriek in terror.

Spoiler

Chapter One: Once Upon a Time in a Yorkshire Hospital Room…

The film is initially filmed in a first-person perspective, looking at an angle titled as if the head was propped on a pillow. The camera moves around to observe the surroundings and we see we are in a hospital room. As the camera moves around, we hear a person’s voice (Strong) narrating a funny and rather profane internal monologue as he tries to figure out where he is, how he got there, and what happened to him. Soon a doctor comes in and introduces himself as Doctor Kindle (Pegg). Kindle, in a voice that is calm yet befuddled, tells the patient that he has been in a coma for a month and that they have no idea who he is. The patient is currently unable to speak but once they wean him off of some sedatives he will be able to improve greatly. As Kindle explains things paternally the patient internally makes rude though funny comments about the situation. Kindle at last says he’ll make sure everything turns out fine. After that, the patient’s internal monologue returns, asking one question: Who the fuck am I?

The film jumps ahead to sometime later as the patient is now able to move around and get out of his bed when necessary. We’re in normal third-person perspective again. Kindle comes in and the two chat, Kindle asking if the patient’s memory has improved at all, but it hasn’t, everything before him waking up remaining blank. The two chat humorously for a couple moments, until finally the patient asks Kindle to tell him how he happened to be put in a coma in the first place. Kindle then explains the manner of wounds the patient received in the order they were determined to have happened, with each explanation accompanied by a very brief shot (a second or so) of the actual injury happening. The patient was first hit around with a blunt object, then he got an injury to his left hand similar to what you would get from punching someone in the mouth, then he was shot three times in the chest, then he fell at least twenty feet (we see him falling out of a window), and then he was hit by a car while getting up. The patient comments that he had a bad day.

A couple days later the patient is close to full recovery, though his memory is still blank. As he and Kindle talk again about the patient’s plans once he is discharged, we see two shady-looking men enter the hospital and make their way through it. Eventually they reach the patient’s room and throw Kindle to the side. One of them has a giant mustache and the other has an eyepatch. Eyepatch says “You should have died the first time, Danny. But you were always stubborn. We’re here from Willie to make sure the job is finished.” Mustache adds “Yeah and Lonagan can’t help you this time.” Danny, confused, tries to explain he has no idea what they are talking about, but to no avail. Eyepatch and Mustache move to pull out their guns but the patient suddenly reacts, grabbing a syringe from a tray and throwing it into Eyepatch’s good eye, blinding him. As Eyepatch is down for now, Danny grabs Mustache’s arm holding the gun and knocks it aside. He punches him several times, knocking him down, and then strangles him with an IV cord. As Eyepatch crawls, whimpering, Danny picks up Mustache’s gun and shoots Eyepatch twice. He then goes through the pockets, taking their ammo, money, identification, and any other useful things. He then looks at Kindle, who is curled up against a far wall in fear, and comments “I guess I remembered how to do all of that” before leaving the room.

The next day two policemen from London arrive at the hospital, Inspector Patel (Khan) and Inspector Nifflin (Considine). They bring Kindle into an office and ask him questions about the two men, explaining that they were known hitmen from London. Kindle says he has no idea why they were there. Patel and Nifflin explain that they were there to kill Kindle’s patient, Danny. Kindle has no idea why since Danny was in a coma for a month and remembers nothing. Nifflin asks him if he has heard of Willie One-Hand and Kindle replies that everyone in England has heard of the infamous crime lord. Patel informs Kindle that Danny happens to be Danny Charleston, the right-hand man to Willie, one of the most dangerous men in all of England, and now a walking bulls-eye for every two-bit thug, hitman, and criminal with a score to settle.

Chapter Two: Living La Vida London

We see shots of downtown London at night, a vibrant, energetic, and frenetic city with the hustle and bustle, glitz and glamour, and high-rolling living you would expect. The camera follows a group of people as they enter an infamous club and in a single shot it navigates the hallways, main dance floor, back rooms, and so on, observing all manner of legal and illegal activities from drug use to intimate encounters and more. For a moment the camera stops at a table where a group of three people are seated. As the camera slowly rotates around the table, occasionally pausing during portions of the conversation, we see that two of them are Nifflin and Patel and the third is soon identified through conversation as Chief Inspector Golden (Czerny), Nifflin and Patel’s superior who is a bit of a bumbling fellow keen on office politics. Nifflin and Patel explain to Golden that the club they are in is one of the most well-known fronts for Willie One-Hand’s criminal empire and yet with all of the infamy it is impossible to crack as any illegal activities they do detect are never traced to the club itself, and even when they are all but certain of certain crimes going down here, they can never find a shred of evidence. When Golden asks them what the point is to watching this place then, to which Nifflin and Patel reply that they can wait for Willie and his cohorts to screw up. Golden thinks that based on Willie’s reputation, the chance of that is “not likely.”

The camera then takes off (still all the one shot), wanders about some more, and then finally winds up in a private basement room where a dozen people or so are seated in a booth round a large table, talking and laughing as they socialize, drink, with some making out, some taking drugs, and the others conversing. The focus of attention is a man in the middle who is the life of the party, cracking jokes and telling stories while waving his arms around dramatically. From this we see that the man has a prosthetic attachment on one arm in the form of a cigarette holder instead of a hand. From this we can see that this is Willie One-Hand (Roth).

After a couple minutes of the characters shooting the breeze and enjoying it all, a beautiful woman enters, the camera seductively tracking her descent of the stairs as it moves up her body, grabbing everyone’s attention. It is Viola (Jones), Willie’s girlfriend. Willie warmly welcomes her and the two cuddle as he shows her off and says that with all of his business enterprises his most lucrative commodity is right next to him. This warm and fuzzy scene is then broken up by the appearance of three men in the private room. One of them is a heavy-set man with a messy bulging mass of scar tissue where his nose used to be and is missing a couple teeth from his mouth, and the other two are Eyepatch and Mustache. Willie rudely asks them what they came in for, though Viola asks him to be nice in front of their guests. No-Nose tells Willie that he and the other two learned from a friend up in York that a man up there has woken up from a coma with total amnesia, and that based on the physical description given in the local news, they figure it to be Danny Charleston. Willie asks the others to leave, though Viola stays behind, reminding Willie that she is a part of all of this Danny business.

After the others leave, Willie tells No-Nose that his instructions were for Danny to be killed with no mistakes. No-Nose replies that he and the others messed him up pretty good, but it seems he was only somewhat dead. Willie laughs and, looking sinister, says to No-Nose “Listen, there’s no such thing as ‘somewhat dead.’ You’re either dead or you’re not dead. Here, let me show you” and he then quickly pulls out a gun and shoots No-Nose once in the middle of the head, the sound not heard outside the room as it is soundproofed. He then looks at Eyepatch and Mustache and tells them very profanely to dispose of the body and to get back to York and finish the job, otherwise they will be as dead as their friend. After Eyepatch and Mustache rush out a back door with the body of No-Nose, Willie complains to Viola about the lack of quality help these days. She asks if he is nervous about Danny still being alive and Willie says his only concern is that Doyle Lonagan decides to make a push and that a broken man like Danny won’t add much to that equation.

Chapter Three: Ye Olde Farm Lonagan

Danny, having acquired suitable clothes, enters a pub called the Strongman Arms, which is packed even at midday, and sits at the bar to order a drink. He chats with the bartender for a couple minutes about everyday stuff and then says that he’s asked around and found that this is the place to arrange a meeting with a Doyle Lonagan. Almost all activity in the bar stops when he says that and the bartender plays dumb, but Danny presses the issue, raising tension as some people slip out of the pub and others tense up as if expecting a fight. Sure enough a heavyset bouncer shows up and after looking at Danny says he recognizes his face and that he was here over a month ago asking to set up a meeting with Lonagan. Danny replies that since that is the case the man can do him a favor and set up another meeting. The bouncer refuses and tries to force Danny to leave, but Danny quickly beats the big man up and then points a gun at the bartender, telling him to get him on the phone with Lonagan.

The bartender uses the phone at the bar to make a call and after explaining some things, such as saying “The boyo from London is back” and finally hands Danny the phone, saying “better play this smart you ponce.” Danny takes the phone and is greeted by the voice of Doyle Lonagan (Firth). Lonagan says he’s heard that Danny was in a coma and that he has lost his memory, so he wonders why he’s being bothered. Danny says he wants some answers to how he got into his situation and wants to meet with Lonagan to get them. Lonagan cheerfully obliges and tells Danny to come to a farm some distance outside the city where they’ll have a nice chat.

As Danny leaves the bar, he is observed by two men, one of whom makes a phone call.

Danny pinches a car and drives himself to the farm, where Lonagan is waiting with a handful of bodyguards. As Danny walks up to them, one of them sarcastically says “Danny-boy, how good of you to show your scoundrel self around these parts again. Danny’s reply is that he walks up to him and decks him with a single punch to the face. Lonagan holds his men from overacting and asks “so you remember that this wee shit was rude to you the last time we met?” Danny replies “Not at all. The fucker just pissed me off.”

Lonagan takes Danny inside and, after satisfied that he truly has no memory, explains some things to him, though we are unsure just how true they are. Lonagan says that Danny is the number two guy for Willie One-Hand but that a couple months ago he came up saying he was going turncoat and would give Lonagan plenty of key info to destroy Willie’s organization and make him top dog in Britain for a nice price. Before the deal could be completed Willie must have got wind of it and had some killers attack him in York. Since they failed, Lonagan hopes Danny can still help him out, this time out of a desire for revenge. Though the original info Danny was to give is out of date (and he no longer remembers it), Lonagan thinks that Danny can be a perfect bait to draw out Willie and his men for Lonagan’s crew to dismantle. Lonagan gets to be the number one crime boss on the island and Danny gets his shot at revenge. Danny doesn’t trust Lonagan and wants to just leave things behind him, but Lonagan says that Danny deserves a chance to pay back Willie and that his past is there, even if he no longer remembers it. Danny says he’ll think about it and is given a cell number to call Lonagan at. As Danny is led away from the farm, one of Lonagan’s men asks Lonagan what his plan is. Lonagan says that Willie will be so eager to get his hands on Danny that he’ll make mistakes, which will give them a chance to obliterate the competition. As for Danny, as Lonagan says, “the poor chap is expendable.”

Danny is escorted back to York and left in an inn room for the time being. He lies on his bed and talks to himself about the total mess he has gotten into and that since he remembers nothing it’d be nice if he could start over his life. His musing is interrupted by a pair of thugs, the two we saw moments earlier, breaking into his room. They order him to get up with his hands in the air. Danny does so, sighing, and the thugs gloat about getting the big bounty from Willie. In their exuberance they let their guard down and Danny kicks a bedside table at them, knocking one down and obscuring the other’s sight long enough to charge him. He pummels that second guy to the ground, wrestles for the guy’s gun, and shoots the first guy as he tries to rise. Swearing, he quickly gathers his stuff and leaves, only to find as he enters the street a horde of police pulling up and slapping him in handcuffs before he can react. Inspectors Patel and Nifflin are with the group and parade Danny, in full view of a couple of Lonagan’s men, into the back of their car, Patel driving while Nifflin gets in the back too. The car drives off and once they are out of town, Nifflin is able to quiet down the profanity-laden protests of Danny and uncuffs him. “Sorry about the show back there” he says, “but we had to make everyone, even the Yorkies, think that we have you dead to rights.” Danny wants an explanation for what the hell is going on with his life. “You’re a CI Danny, an informant” Patel says from the front. “You’ve been working for the London PD for over a year now. That’s why we think good ol’ Willie tried to put you down like a dog.” Danny is beyond confused now and looks out a window dazed as the car speeds down the highway towards London.

Chapter Four: What You See Isn’t What You Get

Two Months Earlier

Danny, dressed very stylishly, ducks into a West End restaurant where in a back booth await Patel and Nifflin. Danny informs the two inspectors about a few minor illegal shipments and bookkeeping activities, but they want more impressive stuff and are impatient to nail Willie on something big. Danny says unless he finds the perfect opportunity it could fail and he’d be liable to get killed. Nifflin and Patel tell Danny that they have had to bring in their superior, Golden, into the fold since the stakes have gotten higher. Danny is annoyed since the more people who know of his status, the greater chance that word could slip back to Willie. After the meeting ends and Danny leaves, Nifflin and Patel talk about Danny and remark that they hope he doesn’t do something very stupid.

Danny returns to his flat just in time to answer a telephone call. It is from Willie (both characters are shown on a split-screen), whose prosthetic hand is currently the form of a backscratcher and he uses it a few times during the call. Willie tells Danny that he needs someone to go up to York in a few days to meet with Lonagan’s men and work out an amicable deal. Willie wants him to be the go-to-guy for the job. Danny asks why they can’t just “carve the man up” to which Willie says that you can’t just take out crime lords carefree, it’d cause anarchy which is bad for business. The call is soon ended after they chat friendly for a minute or so. Danny goes to fix himself a drink but midway through it he has to answer the doorbell. At the door is Viola. The two talk with a few double-entendres before Viola kisses Danny. The scene segues into a short and semi-explicit scene of the two having sex and then moves on to the aftermath. Dialogue between Danny and Viola indicates that the two of them have been having an affair for some time and that Danny has been planning to eventually betray Willie and stage a getaway for the two of them. Danny tells Viola that he thinks it is time for them to do what he has wanted to for so long and that a trip he has to take to York should get things started. He then gets up to take a shower, leaving her alone in his bedroom.

Before Danny leaves for York, he goes to a friend of his, Towering Bob (Oyelowo), a witty arms dealer (who isn’t tall at all) who sells to anyone who pays and has a habit of pranking friends and customers, even dangerously at some times, for his own amusement. After one such prank, they catch up on recent events and Danny gives a briefcase for Towering Bob to hold in safekeeping. Later, as Danny confidently drives north Viola makes her own surprising move. She calls (unseen, voice only) Willie from her own flat and tells him she needs him to come over. Willie arrives to find Viola huddled on the floor, her dress badly torn and her body bruised. She tells a distraught Willie that she found out that Danny is going to betray him to Lonagan and when Danny discovered this he beat her up and threatened to kill her. Willie flies into a rage and immediately gives an order that Danny is to be found and killed.

Danny arrives at the pub from Chapter Three and asks to see Lonagan, saying he is the man sent by Willie. A meeting is set up and Danny is taken to Lonagan’s farm outside of York and meets the crime boss, who alternates between cheerfully humorous and sternly threatening. Danny then tells Lonagan that he is tired of being Willie’s lapdog and that he wants to take the man down. He says he has information with him at a hotel room about a few minor shipments Willie is organizing but that he can access the big stuff when he gets back to London, stuff that would require Lonagan to handle in person. In return, Danny will be paid very handsomely, half of it up-front wired to an offshore bank account. The two shake hands and Lonagan cheerfully says “You double-cross me and you’ll be neutered like the lapdog you say you are.”

Danny is taken back to York where he takes a couple of Lonagan’s men to his hotel room. He slips away for a moment and leaves a voice message with Nifflin and Patel, telling them he is planning something that will solve their mutual problems and that he can tell them about it when he is back in London. He is just about to wrap up his business with Lonagan’s men when a sextet of men burst into the room and a close-quarters gunfight breaks out. Lonagan’s two men and three of the attackers are quickly disposed of and Danny is backed into a corner by the surviving three: our old friends No-Nose, Mustache, and Eyepatch. The scene then plays out in an elongated and full version of the snippets we saw in Chapter One, with Danny being beaten up while trying to fight back, knocking out a few of No-Nose’s teeth (which cuts his hand), shot three times, falling out a window twenty feet up due to the momentum, and then getting hit by a car as he struggles to his feet. As Danny lies motionless on the street, the three thugs from Willie observe that he looks dead and depart. People on the street go to check on a facedown Danny.

Chapter Five: Crime Doesn’t Pay…Sometimes

At a roadside restaurant, Nifflin, Patel, and Danny are eating, Danny suspiciously watching the two inspectors more so than anything else. The two policemen finish their meals and ask Danny if he’s sure he has total amnesia. Danny gets a quick flash of images showing a couple locations and people, but unsure what it means says he doesn’t. Nifflin and Patel aren’t sure how to proceed but decide to take Danny into protective custody. They call up Golden to let him know they are bringing Danny in and then get back to driving. They have only just entered London when they are ambushed by a pair of trucks that block their route. Men fire from the trucks into the front of their car, riddling Nifflin and Patel with bullets. Danny grabs a gun and flees, firing wildly at the men in the trucks who drive after him and then chase him on foot. Danny is nicked a couple times in the chase and drops two of the attackers. He manages to lose them by catching an Underground train seconds before it departs. As he sits on the train out of breath, bleeding a little, he has some more flashes, after which he smiles.

At a police precinct, Golden learns of the ambush that killed Nifflin and Patel and panics a bit since losing Danny could really hurt his reputation. After comically bumbling around for a minute, he realizes he knows an underworld source who passes on news to the police for the right price.

Willie is also displeased when he hears the news, wrecking a lot of his apartment’s living room. He has no idea how much Danny remembers but since someone reported about Danny meeting Lonagan again, he assumes Danny remembers everything. Viola comforts him and says that Danny will resurface and present himself as a target. She also tells him that Lonagan’s involvement will allow them to kill two birds with one stone, so he must be patient.

Danny shows up at Towering Bob’s place, his friend very glad to see Danny alive and well. Danny says his memory’s very fuzzy thanks to Willie’s goons but he remembers he left something very important with Bob for safekeeping and asks for it. Bob says he’ll need to make a call to make sure things are good and disappears. Danny looks around Bob’s place for a moment and some more memory flashes come back before Bob returns. Bob says he has to meet someone around the corner who is dropping the stuff off from safekeeping.

Lonagan with a small platoon of henchmen has arrived at a London safe house. Word has reached him of the assault on Danny. He orders his men to be ready for word from Danny, since he’ll certainly now be ready to get revenge. They soon get a call, but not from Danny, but from Viola. She explains she got the cell number from Danny who she is working with and that she is helping him set up Willie and that Danny will be in touch very soon. Lonagan is a bit confused but pleased nonetheless. Viola hangs up and then walks around a street corner where she hands a large envelope to Towering Bob. She asks Bob to not mention her involvement to Danny. Bob asks her “what” her involvement is anyway, to which she replies with a cheeky smile “healthier off not knowing, Bob.” She gives him a playful kiss on the cheek and departs.

Bob returns to his place and gives Danny the envelope and avoids answering about who was holding it for him. Bob asks what the envelope has and Danny replies “my ticket out of this fucking zoo.” At that moment a dozen London police burst into the building. Danny looks at Bob, who says he actually made two calls, one of them to a London PD inspector looking for Danny. That inspector is Golden, who walks in and cheerily says to Danny he’s happy to meet them and now it’s time to improve both of their lives.

Danny calls Lonagan, both shown via split-screen. Danny, looking at pages from the envelope he has, tells Lonagan there is a large warehouse on the south bank of the Thames that is a storage site for Willie transferring highly illegal goods in and out of the country. A strike there will disable Willie’s import/export capacities greatly and weaken him. After Lonagan thanks him and says the second half of the payment will be put in his offshore account immediately, Danny hangs up and makes a call to Willie, who replaces Lonagan on the split screen. Danny taunts Willie and says he wants to settle this like men. Willie is very angry, cursing up a storm. Danny suggests they meet at the aforementioned warehouse and Willie agrees, adding he’ll bring Viola since she was the one who informed on Danny. “I’m sure she’ll get a kick outta seeing ya bleed, and I’ll get a little stiff watching it, and from watching you look at her before ya die.” This news shakes Danny, but he hides it.

The scene shifts to Danny in a police precinct with Golden and many other cops clustered around him. Golden tells the assembled cops that tonight the two most infamous crime lords in Britain will be converging on a single point due to irresistible bait, and they will be taken down with extreme prejudice. Danny will need to go in first to make sure Willie is there and draw him out.

Short scenes show Willie and Lonagan making preparations to get their crews ready to move out. Willie has concerns that it could be a trap but Viola encourages him to remove the persistent problem that is Danny once and for all.

Danny shows up at the warehouse as Golden and a couple dozen cops set up far enough away so they can’t be detected. He enters and shouts out for Willie, calling him names. Willie appears on a second floor overlook with Viola and sarcastically welcomes Danny home, over a dozen men with automatic weapons showing up below. Willie says he’d like to kill Danny personally, but he doesn’t take chances. Danny, hearing the noise of cars pulling up, says it’s a good thing he brought more guys. At that point Lonagan with a dozen men of his own enter through the front door and aim their guns at Willie’s men, Lonagan saying “this was a bit unexpected.” The two crime lords now exchange insults, trying to force the other to back down. During this Danny looks up sadly at Viola, who he is getting some flashes of his relationship with, and notices she is slyly slipping away. More car noises are heard that everyone hears, turning to look. Armored cars burst through the side walls, swerving to the side as from each a dozen heavily armed policemen burst out. Golden appears from one vehicle and demands the criminals surrender. Lonagan and Willie look at one another for a second, their hatred of each other shifting to hatred of cops, and then quickly turn to fire at the policemen, some of their men doing the same while others fire at the opposing crime lord’s henchmen.

A massive and confusing three-way firefight breaks out as Danny dives behind cover and slowly crawls behind an armored car as criminals and policemen drop like flies around him. Most of the three sides are taken out in the first minute due to the crossfire, the rest retreating behind any cover they can find and exchanging potshots. Golden and Lonagan take each other out with several gunshots apiece. Danny from his hiding spot spies Willie getting lightly wounded in a shoulder before running off. Danny, determined for revenge, gets up and follows.

Danny chases Willie to an exterior dock but is wounded when Willie turns and fires at him. Willie comes back to fight, his prosthetic hand now a hook, and the two fight hand-to-hand as gunshots continue to sound in the background. Danny lands in several good punches, but Willie slices Danny across the chest with his hook and then steps back to point his gun at a kneeling Danny. Viola then shows up and Willie, laughing merrily, says to Danny that he and his girl always come out on top. A gun appears next to Willie’s head and Viola says “No, just the girl” and pulls the trigger. Willie’s corpse falls into the river and a stunned Danny just looks at Viola. Viola sticks her gun into a concealed shoulder holster and tells Danny “you’ve been a fucking terrible headache for me the past few months.” Danny is finally able to eke out a question: “who the fuck are you?” Viola smiles and says “Violet Downing, MI5. I was under deep cover for nearly two years, until you decided to get greedy and take Willie down for your own benefit.” Danny was not expecting this answer. “You’re Secret Service?” he asks. Violet says that MI5 has been building a case against England’s crime syndicates for years, but Danny’s plan to betray Willie jeopardized her undercover work so she had to turn Willie against him. It was only afterwards that MI5 found out that Danny had been an informant for London PD and when it was learned that Danny had survived, she activated her contingency plans and maneuvered Willie and Lonagan to the same spot where they could be taken out. Violet was here to ensure that neither of the two crime bosses made it out alive, since they each had enough connections to goose the system if they went to trial. Danny says he still has a shitload of questions, but he’ll settle for knowing what happens next. Violet says as far as she’s concerned Danny’s held up his bargain and since he now has a comfy payment from Lonagan in an offshore account and a broken memory, it’s the perfect opportunity to start a new life. She starts to leave, but first Danny asks her how much of they had was real. Violet looks back with a cute smirk and says “It was fun Danny, we’ll leave it at that.” She starts walking again and Danny smiles and shakes his head.

The final scene is at a poolside bar in the Caribbean somewhere. A news report over the radio talks about a recent shootout in London that left dozens of criminals and policemen dead or wounded before getting switched off. It is Danny, more than a bit tipsy and happily dressed in beachwear. He orders another round of drinks from the bar and when the bartender comments that the only people he’s seen drink so much are those drinking to forget, Danny with lots of cheer replies “Well not me, I’ve already forgotten it all.” He smiles and the film cuts to black.

He says that Ducktown has the strangest weather. It is raining feathers. The rest of the ducks scream and run out of the café. Bill asks if Aldo ate Waddle. Aldo says no. Ed asks if Bill believes him and Oly or the gator Aldo? Bill says he believes Aldo 100%. Ed and Oly hold up the feather. Bill says maybe only 75%. Aldo tells Bill that he doesn’t need to believe him because he is just a gator. Aldo leaves. Ed and Oly cry over the feather melodramatically. Bill grabs the feather and says it doesn’t look like a duck feather but a chicken feather. Ed grabs the feather and says that they didn’t know their brother was a chicken. Oly says that the world is a cruel place. Bill tells Aldo that they are going to get to the bottom of this. The walk outside the café and it is raining feathers. They suddenly hear a chicken cackling on the roof. On top of the roof, we see Waddle trying to silence the chicken. Bill asks what Waddle is doing. Aldo grabs the shaking Waddle. Down at the café, Bill tells the rest of the ducks that it was Ed and Oly’s plan to get rid of Aldo. Bill tells Bev to whip up two milkshakes with tadpole sprinkles on top. Bev smiles and says coming right up. Ed, Oly, and Waddle join them. They happily eat drink their milkshakes. The camera zooms out of the Decoy Café.

The film begins with Katherine Tyler (Kit) leaves her home in Barbados after her grandfather's death and goes to Wethersfield, Connecticut to live with her aunt and uncle in their small Puritan community. On the way to her new home, there is a brief stop in Saybrook, a small town just down river from Wethersfield, and four new passengers board the Dolphin, the ship on which Kit is traveling. As the small rowboat returns to the ship, a small girl named Prudence accidentally drops her doll in the water and begs her mother to get it back for her. Her mother, Goodwife Cruff, harshly strikes Prudence and tells her not to be foolish. Impulsively, Kit jumps into the water and retrieves the doll. When she returns to the rowboat, she is met with astonished suspicion as few people in Connecticut could swim so well. Goodwife Cruff is the most cynical of them all, believing Kit is a witch, saying, "No respectable woman could stay afloat like that." When she arrives in Wethersfield, Kit finds Connecticut very different from Barbados. In her previous home, she had servants but here is expected to work along with the rest of the family. There is none of the luxury to which she was accustomed, and even the weather is miserably cold. She has two cousins, Mercy and Judith. She is required to attend church  services twice each Sunday, which she finds long and dull. At church, Kit meets the rich William Ashby, who begins courting her, though she does not care for him; originally, her cousin Judith had hoped to marry William, but soon sets her sights on John Holbrook, a divinity student studying with local minister Gershom Bulkeley. Kit's life improves when she and Mercy begin teaching the 'dame school' for young children. Everything goes well until one day, bored with the normal lessons, Kit decides the children will act out a part from the Bible. Mr. Eleazer Kimberly, the head of the school, enters the house just as things get out of hand. He is outraged at Kit for having the audacity to act out something from the Bible and shuts down the school. Heartbroken, Kit flees to the meadows. When she is there, she meets and befriends the kind, elderly woman named Hannah Tupper, who was outlawed from the Massachusetts colony because she is a Quaker. As outcasts, Kit and Hannah develop a deep relationship, and even after her uncle forbids Kit to continue the friendship, Kit keeps visiting Hannah. During one of her visits, she once again meets the handsome Nathaniel (Nat) Eaton, son of the captain of the Dolphin. Without realizing it, she falls in love with him, and though he doesn't say so, Nat loves her as well. Kit also begins secretly teaching Prudence to read and write; Goodwife Cruff claims the child is a halfwit and refuses to allow her to attend the dame school. When a deadly illness sweeps through Wethersfield, a mob gathers to kill Hannah by burning her house, since everyone believes she is a witch who has cursed the town. Kit risks her life to warn Hannah, and the two women escape to the river just as the Dolphin appears from the early morning mist. Kit flags it down, and she explains to Nat the events of the night. He takes Hannah aboard the ship, and then invites Kit to come with them. She refuses, explaining how Mercy is gravely ill, though Nat believes Kit fears risking her engagement to William Ashby. After the Dolphin sails away, Kit returns home to find that Mercy's fever has broken. She also discovers that the confusion between who John Holbrook was courting was all figured out. John had secretly loved Mercy, and Mercy felt the same towards John. In the middle of the same night, the townspeople come for Kit since she has been of being a witch. The next day, after a night in a freezing shed, she is asked to explain the presence of her hornbook in Hannah's house and a copybook with Prudence's name written throughout, as the townspeople fear that she and Hannah had been casting a spell over the girl. Kit refuses to explain that it is Prudence herself who wrote her name in the book, as she does not wish Prudence to get in trouble with her parents. Then, just as the case seemed to be decided, Nat appears with Prudence who testifies that she herself wrote her own name in the hornbook, not Kit. To demonstrate her literacy, Prudence reads a Bible passage, thus convincing her father both that she is intelligent and that no witchcraft could be involved, as he points out the devil would be foolish to allow a child to be taught to use the Bible against him. Judith and Mercy end up engaged to William Ashby and John Holbrook respectively, and Kit decides to return to Barbados. However, her plans change when Nat appears back in Wethersfield with his own ship, the Witch, named after her. At the port, they greet each other happily. Nat and Kit explain their love for one another and Nat asks her to come on board the "Witch" for keeps.

Plot Summary:

Spoiler

The film begins with a montage of scenes narrated by Professor Oak (Nighy) that introduces us into the world of Kanto and its Pokémon, giving us basic information about the creatures, showing us shots of a number of species in the wild, and explaining a little of the complicated relationship between Pokémon and humans. The camera pulls back and we see that it’s a nature documentary of sorts on TV, being watched by Stephanie (Rice). Her mom (Acker) says she must be studying up for the big day tomorrow, which is when Stephanie will get her first Pokémon. Stephanie is excited and asks her mom to tell her again about her mom’s own Pokémon adventures. After the mom tells a story of her time as a Pokémon trainer, Stephanie goes outside for a walk. We’re introduced to the small village of Pallet Town and its assorted characters. After a few minutes of this Stephanie bumps into her neighbor, Gary Oak (Parkinson), who is Professor Oak’s grandson. Gary is very boastful, so he comes off as being a bit of a jerk. He says he can’t wait to get his own Pokémon and take the gym challenge, and says he’ll be the best.

The next day is the big day, as a bunch of prospective trainers from the general area converge on Professor Oak’s Pokémon lab. Professor Oak appears and is a bit kooky and eccentric and gives a little speech about how the kids/teens are entering a wonderful world of adventure. His assistants hand out various common Pokémon to the trainers, though neither Gary nor Stephanie receives one. After the crowd disperses Gary wants to know what the deal is and Oak laughs and says he never forgets his grandson (causing Gary to mutter that Oak sometimes forgets his name). Oak tells Gary and Stephanie to come into his lab with him. In the lab, Oak whistles and a small, furry Pokémon scampers over. It is an Eevee. Gary is thrilled since the Eevee (a male) was Oak’s own pet. Oak says Eevees are very rare and can evolve into very powerful and unique Pokémon when treated well. Gary picks up the Eevee and says the two of them are going to go far. Oak then tells Stephanie he’s known her family for decades, giving her own mother her first Pokémon, and wants her to have a special Pokémon also. He leads her to a tray of three Pokeballs; small items the size of softballs that use miniaturization technology to store Pokémon inside, and tells her to pick one. Stephanie studies their info for each for a minute and then picks one and releases the Pokémon inside: a Bulbasaur. The Bulbasaur (a female) is nervous but Stephanie soothes it and the Bulbasaur starts to get friendlier. Gary is eager for a Pokémon battle but Oak says they need to get used to owning Pokémon first. He says he’s expecting a package from Viridian City and the two should go there to pick it up, which should give them time to get to know their Pokémon.

We see Stephanie and Gary travel to Viridian City, which is a few hours walk, their Pokémon walking alongside them. Gary talks about all the great evolutions Eevee has depending on how it’s trained. While they take a break she ponders what to name her Bulbasaur and after some thought settles on Silva (Latin for “forest”). Gary though doesn’t know what to name his Eevee and decides to wait until he decides what to evolve it into. Eventually they reach Viridian City and Gary rushes towards the Gym and says he can’t wait to take the Gym Challenge. A citizen tells them that the Gym is closed and is for very experienced trainers only, which dampens Gary’s mood. They go pick up Oak’s package and take the walk back, both wondering what’s inside. They return to Pallet Town by sunset and Oak opens the package to reveal a bunch of devices that look like iPads. They are Pokedexes, which categorize all the important information of Pokémon that trainers encounter in the wild or possess. Oak says they are for his lab’s research, but he wants both Stephanie and Gary to have one so they can learn a lot about Pokémon on their journeys. He asks them to come by in the morning.

Stephanie returns home and talks with her mom about her day and says she’s so excited, with Silva curiously inspecting items around the house and comically interacting with a couple. Her mom is glad Stephanie is happy and says her days as a Pokémon trainer were among the best in her life. The next day Stephanie and Gary return to Oak’s lab and Oak gives them each several Pokeballs, saying they’re now real Pokémon trainers. Gary again badgers Stephanie for a fight between their Pokémon and Stephanie agrees, wanting to get it over with. The fight is short, with Eevee quickly darting around to try and tackle Silva, who dodges a couple times and then uses its vines to grab Eevee and lightly bop it on the ground a few times, making it dizzy and clearly showing Silva is the winner. Oak chuckles and Gary, a bit flushed, says he’ll win next time and leaves in a huff with Eevee. Oak says his grandson will get over his loss and tells Stephanie her first trip should be to Pewter City where the first gym is.

We see Stephanie packing up her things and then setting out on her journey. On the way north she and Silva soon discover Gary is following them. Gary says he’s going north too so they might as well travel together. Stephanie is hesitant, since Gary’s a bit annoying, but decides to go with it. Soon, Gary decides to catch a Pokémon and wanders into the tall grass, Stephanie not far behind. Gary sees a Spearow sunbathing on a rock and throws a Pokeball at it, but the Spearow avoids capture by flying to a tree and chirps at Gary like it’s laughing. Gary is annoyed and throws some small rocks at the Spearow, Stephanie telling him to quit it. Soon a small rock clonks the Spearow on the head and it makes an angry noise. Seconds later, dozens more of the same noise are made and we see that the tree is full of Spearows, and they’re not happy with Gary. Gary backs away and Stephanie suggests they run, which they do, the flock chasing them until Stephanie and Gary are able to hide in some bushes. The chase over, they continue to Viridian City and, resting at a Pokémon Center, talk about what they’re doing next. Stephanie is continuing on to Pewter City but Gary has decided to go west for a bit to capture some Pokémon, so they’ll be parting ways. Stephanie wishes Gary luck and he replies he won’t need it, and says next time they meet he’ll beat her in a battle.

We get a short scene with Professor Oak doing some research and getting a call on a video-screen. It is Bill (Hiddleston), an old student of Oak’s who is another Pokémon research and an inventor. Bill says he’s doing some fascinating work in Mt. Moon currently and he can’t wait to send his research to Oak. Oak is pleased and says he has a couple special trainers eventually coming that way and asks Bill to keep an eye out for them when they show up.

After resting for the day, Stephanie heads towards Pewter City. Along the way she encounters a wild Pokémon, a male Nidoran and catches it. She names it Conan. After letting Silva and Conan get to know one another Stephanie continues into the Viridian Forest, which is full of tall, dark trees. She catches another Pokémon here, a male Weedle. She names it Spike. Stephanie encounters another Weedle later in the forest and tries to use it for battle practice, but the commotion attracts a whole crowd of Weedles, which move in for an attack. Stephanie uses her Pokemon to try and hold them off, but there are too many and one drops down from a tree and stings Stephanie. The situation looks very grim and Stephanie falls down, and as she loses consciousness (the camera gets all out of focus) she hears someone summon a Pokemon and something that looks like a huge rock-snake appears and plows in a circle around her.

Stephanie wakes up in a hospital bed and is told by a nurse that she’s in Pewter City and she was rescued by the local Gym Leader, Brock. Brock (Boyega), a young man, then enters and said she was lucky he was in the forest nearby and says many young trainers underestimate Bug Pokemon since they’re dangerous in numbers. Brock says that’s why he specializes in Rock-type, since Bug Pokemon do nothing against them. Stephanie introduces herself and Brock says he’d be happy to take her challenge for a Gym Badge, but she needs a little time to recover and train her Pokemon some more first. Brock leaves and when Stephanie feels better she gets up and goes to an outside yard where her Pokemon are socializing with others, though they happily come over to her when they see she is fine. Stephanie tells them she’s going to work hard at training them so she doesn’t make the same mistake again. We see a short montage of her training her Pokemon and Spike evolves into a Kakuna but as a bug Pokemon he won’t be much help against Brock, so Stephanie tells Silva it’s all on her.

Stephanie enters Brock’s gym and says she’s ready for a battle. Brock says plenty of first-time trainers come here and find they need to work even harder. The gym battle begins, with Silva facing two Pokemon, one at a time, Brock’s Geodude and his Onix. Silva, who has a type-advantage, easily beats the Geodude, but she runs into trouble with Onix, who is much bigger and also very fast. At one point the Onix almost gets Silva into a constrictive bind, but Silva uses her vines to yank herself out of the way and then fires a volley of razor leaves at Onix, which knocks it out, winning the battle. Stephanie is thrilled, hugging Silva and saying he is great, and Brock congratulates her, saying that as a first-tier gym leader it’s his job to encourage new trainers and he’s always happy when one proves herself to be ready for the long road ahead.

That night, Stephanie calls home and talks to her mom about her victory and is still buzzing about it. Her mom is very happy and says Stephanie’s father would be proud to know what a great trainer his daughter is turning into. The talk turns a little somber as Stephanie asks her mom to talk about her father for a bit, since he died when she was little, and her mom tells her a moving story about when Stephanie was born.

We change scene to Mt. Moon, a series of tall mountains between Pewter City and Cerulean City with a series of cave tunnels. We see Bill in person in a cluttered camp-site, going over some maps and other tools as he does research. He hears some echoes in the tunnels and curious, investigates and finds in a large cavern a group of men and women in black uniforms and a few scientists. The leader (Jon Bernthal) tells the others that they’re going to start combing the place for valuable fossils for “the boss.” Bill pulls out his smartphone and sends a text message on it, but then stumbles and makes a noise, which alerts the people to his presence. They quickly find and grab him and bring him before the leader, who introduces himself as Mr. Saturn and says Bill shouldn’t be nosing around other people’s business.

Stephanie sets out from Pewter City. The route between Pewter City and Mt. Moon has other trainers traveling back and forth, and one of them, an obnoxious teen obsessed with shorts, challenges Stephanie and she easily beats him. After some more travel, she encounters Brock, who says he is traveling to Mt. Moon to investigate reports of strange men scouring the place. They go the rest of the way together, Stephanie peppering Brock with questions about his work as a Gym Leader, trainer experiences, etc. and Brock answering them. They eventually arrive at the base of Mt. Moon and rest at the Pokemon Center there. While there, Stephanie lets her Pokemon out to exercise and they watch as she is accosted by a merchant who promises to sell her an incredibly powerful Pokemon for a bargain price. Intrigued, Stephanie is taken in by the salesman and buys the Pokemon. She eagerly goes outside to see what is inside the Pokeball, pre-emptively naming it “Leviathan” and it is…a male Magikarp. Stephanie’s mood immediately sours and her Pokemon roll on the ground in laughter at her getting conned. Brock notices and chuckles. He tells her that while a Magikarp may look useless, a very patient trainer will be rewarded.

Stephanie and Brock enter Mt. Moon’s caves, Brock, being a rock nut, pointing out the interesting geological aspects. They enter a large cavern and Brock points out that it is full of Zubats. Brock encourages her to catch one and though it is tricky, Stephanie is able to trick it into going near the ground so Silva can grab it with its vines. Stephanie catches it and names the female Zubat Selene. Selene is very chipper and likes to flit around in the air and flies ahead of Stephanie and Brock. Eventually they hear the noise of men working and Brock cautiously leads the way to an outcropping where they see the same group of men Bill encountered, having set up camp. Stephanie asks who they are and Brock says they’re members of a group called Team Rocket, an organization that uses Pokemon for criminal activity. He says that a friend, Bill, was doing research here and found them, so Bill alerted him. There’s no sign of Bill, so Brock thinks he may be held prisoner. Brock tells Stephanie that he is going to drive the Team Rocket members off and during the distraction she needs to go into the camp and see if Bill is there. Stephanie agrees.

We see a very short scene with Bill tied up and gagged in a Rocket tent. He overhears Saturn telling some goons that the first shipment is away and the results seem promising, so more money for Team Rocket. Saturn then says he is going outside to get a message sent to the boss about their progress.

Brock sets up and enters the large cavern and summons a Pokemon, a Rhydon, a very large and strong Pokemon impervious to many kinds of attacks. The Rhydon charges and startles the Rockets, many of whom run from the cavern with Brock and the Rhydon in pursuit. Stephanie then climbs down to the cavern floor and summons all her Pokemon (except Spike, who as a Kakuna can’t move) and tells them to look for someone tied up. After some investigation Selene flies over and chirps, leading her to a tent where Silva and Conan have found Bill. Stephanie ungags him and is immediately warned about a Rocket behind her, who growls at a kid’s meddling and sends his Pokemon, a Rattata and an Ekans at her. Stephanie has Silva fight the Ekans and Conan fight the Rattata while she sends Selene to get Brock. The Rocket fight goes with Silva and Conan winning without much trouble. The Rocket tries to flee, but Stephanie, apologizing to Spike beforehand, stops the Rocket by throwing Spike at him and the Kakuna’s impact knocks the Rocket out. Spike then starts shuddering and morphs into his final form, a Beedrill. Stephanie says he looks awesome as Spike shows off. She finishes untying Bill, who says it’s fascinating how fast Bug Pokemon evolve. He introduces himself and when Stephanie says who she is he says Professor Oak asked him to keep an eye out for her and his grandson. Brock reappears with Selene and says some of the Rockets managed to get away, but his Rhydon has the majority cornered in a small cavern and they won’t be escaping before the police arrive. Brock asks what the Rockets were doing and Bill says they were looking for fossilized Pokemon. Fossils alone are worth a fair amount of money, but Bill has heard rumors that some scientists are working on techniques to resurrect fossilized Pokemon, which would make them tons more valuable. Brock doesn’t like that news and says he’ll be sure to see what the police can dig up. Brock tells Stephanie that he has to stay here to keep an eye on the Rockets, so she’ll have to continue on to Cerulean City with Bill. Stephanie asks why he doesn’t use his Rhydon in gym battles and Brock, laughing, says that if he did that no new trainer would ever get a badge. Getting pummeled by a far more powerful Pokemon teaches a new trainer nothing. They bid goodbye and Stephanie and Bill set out towards the exit. On the way, Silva spots something shiny and grabs it with her vines. Bill examines it and says it’s a Moon Stone and that Stephanie should hold onto it, since it could be useful in the near future.

We see Saturn outside Mt. Moon, looking furious as he berates a few Rocket members over letting their operation get hammered. The Rockets say they faced a huge Rhydon and Saturn grumbles. He says at least they sent the first shipment to Cinnabar for study and experimentation. He also says that they better not screw up in the next operation for their boss.

We then see a couple scenes of Stephanie and Bill walking towards Cerulean City. Bill talks about his time with Professor Oak, which includes a funny story about Oak being absent-minded, though it’s clear Bill is also klutzy. Stephanie asks if Leviathan will ever be useful and Bill says Magikarp are great swimmers and can pull much more than their weight because of that. During the journey, Silva is trained enough to evolve into her next form, an Ivysaur. Eventually they reach Cerulean City and Bill says he is going to go to his house north of the city and Stephanie should stop by after exploring the city a bit. Stephanie does that with her Pokemon and takes in the sights. After some exploring, she bumps into Gary of all people. Gary says he got to Cerulean City a few days ago and is getting ready to battle the local gym leader, Misty. Gary says that he went to see Bill, because his grandfather said he should, but Bill wasn’t around. Stephanie mentions Bill just coming back and Gary says they should go visit him then. As they walk, Gary talks about how he’s trained his Pokemon very well, though he still is unsure how to evolve his Eevee. We see that he has a Pidgeotto, a Sandshrew, and an Abra. Stephanie talks about her Mt. Moon adventure and Gary is interested to hear about Team Rocket and boasts he can handle them no problem. As they walk and talk their Pokemon follow along and intermingle with some light humor.

The two reach Bill’s house and find it deserted aside from a nervous-looking Clefairy. Things take a turn for the weird when the Clefairy speaks! After a couple seconds of shock and horror, the Clefairy explains that he is Bill (in Bill’s voice) and that he started working on a teleportation experiment that accidentally switched his mind with a Clefairy’s, the audience then seeing Bill’s body entering the room with a very sprightly behavior, hopping around and all that. Bill says they can re-run the teleporters to un-switch the bodies. A humorous scene happens as Gary and Stephanie coax Bill’s body into one teleportation box and Bill the Clefairy goes into the other, and then they run the machine, which successfully un-switches the bodies. Bill thanks them when he comes out of the machine and says he sometimes loses track of where everything is. He tells them both that Professor Oak wants them both to visit the S.S. Anne, a cruise ship that will stop soon in Vermillion City. The S.S. Anne is a trainer cruise ship, so it’ll be full of trainers for the two to battle against. Bill says he can’t attend because of work, but he’s arranged for them to and gives the two each a special pass for the ship. Stephanie and Gary thank him and Stephanie asks Bill not to get into more trouble for a little while. Bill chuckles and says science isn’t fun if there isn’t a little danger involved.

On their way back to Cerulean City, Gary asks Stephanie if she is up for another battle. Stephanie instead wants to challenge Misty. Gary jokes that she’s nervous she’ll lose this time and Stephanie replies she doesn’t want to embarrass him again. Gary lets it go, and then suggests they challenge Misty together, that way they can see how much they’ve progressed. Stephanie after some thought agrees. They go to the Cerulean City Gym and challenge Misty, who agrees to the double battle. Stephanie uses Silva and Gary uses his Eevee. Misty sends out her two Pokemon, a Staryu and a Starmie. The Starmie is very powerful and fast and blasts water towards Silva and Eevee, who have to be quick to dodge. After some initial moves, Stephanie realizes she and Gary will have to focus on one Pokemon at a time and tells Gary this. Gary at first doesn’t want to, thinking his Eevee is strong enough, but after it gets hit by a water jet and is a little dazed, he realizes Stephanie is right. Silva and Eevee therefore work together and first take down the Staryu, and then focus on the Starmie. After some trouble, Stephanie has Gary use his Eevee to distract the Starmie with quick attacks while Silva, who has a type advantage, sets up for the knockout. The plan works and Misty’s Starmie is defeated. Misty says they fought well and says they should pair together more often. Gary immediately says no way, he’s soon going to be strong enough to not need help next time. Stephanie and Gary leave the gym with their badges and Gary says Stephanie is raising Silva well, but she still won’t beat him. Stephanie, getting a little annoyed, says that he’s being stupid and on the S.S. Anne she’ll prove it by beating him.

At the city’s Pokemon Center, Stephanie rests her Pokemon and ponders how to train next and tells Leviathan that even it will get some training…eventually. The scene then changes back to Pallet Town, with Oak talking to Bill via video screen. Bill talks about the Mt. Moon situation and Oak is concerned about the news and says he’s heard a few things about strange Pokemon research but it’s too little to go on right now. If they learn more about Team Rocket’s general plans then they might be able to figure out how they can stop them. Oak later goes across town to visit Stephanie’s mom and tells her that he’s heard from his grandson that he and Stephanie just beat the Cerulean City Gym. Stephanie’s mom is happy that things are going so well and says Stephanie reminds her a lot of herself when she was younger. Oak agrees and says the mom was a wonderful trainer and that what happened in the past was a terrible tragedy. Stephanie’s mom sadly nods and says she hopes Stephanie never experiences the same event.

As Stephanie prepares to leave the Pokemon Center, she sees Misty come in to order a few general supplies. Misty then notices Stephanie and comes over to congratulate her on her performance in the gym battle. Stephanie thanks Misty and says she still has a long way to go. Misty says that may be true, but one way to cure that is through plenty of practice, and suggests Stephanie try the S.S. Anne competition, which is being sponsored by the first tier of gym leaders: Brock, her, and Lieutenant Surge. Stephanie says that she was actually about to leave for Vermillion City as she got a pass for the competition. Misty is pleased and says that since she is a co-host, she wouldn’t mind the company on the way down there.

We see Stephanie and Misty traveling to Vermillion City and Stephanie training along the way, seeing a montage with her beating other trainers and trying to get her Pokemon experience, even Leviathan, which mostly just splashes around in the water. Misty watches Stephanie train and gives her some tips and practice as well. Stephanie then stumbles upon another Pokemon she wants to catch, a Drowzee. She catches the male Drowzee and names it Houdini. Also along the way, Conan evolves into a Nidorino. While they travel Stephanie and Misty talk, with Misty remarking that Stephanie’s partner in the gym battle shows a lot of promise as well. Stephanie says that Gary is a good trainer, but he’s also kind of an overconfident idiot. Misty smiles and says “most boys that age are.” She says everyone gets their wakeup call, when they realize there’s a lot more in their way than they thought.

Stephanie and Misty reach Vermillion City and Misty directs Stephanie to the main square, where a speaking event is being held hyping up the S.S. Anne competition. Standing on a platform are Brock, and a tall man with swagger who has to be Lieutenant Surge (Holloway). Surge is a proud, boastful man who does a great job talking up how awesome the S.S. Anne competition will be. He says that aside from the tremendous prizes, the trainers who do the best will be able to get the Vermillion City Gym Badge without having to face him, and the Gym will be closed until the competition is over. Brock manages to get a few additional words of detail and encouragement in edgewise, but this is the Surge show. Stephanie comments that Surge sure likes to talk. Misty laughs and says Surge can seem a bit of a blowhard, but he’s actually a very nice guy and a determined trainer.

After the two gym leaders are done speaking, the crowd disperses and Misty waves to Brock and Surge, who come over. They’re glad to see her and Brock says hi to Stephanie. Surge introduces himself to Stephanie and says he hopes she puts on a good show at the competition. He then tells Misty that the three of them have some final things to discuss for tomorrow, and the three gym leaders depart, Misty telling Stephanie she’ll see her tomorrow.

Stephanie travels to the local Pokemon Center encounters one of Professor Oak’s research assistants, who says that he’s here on business for Oak at the S.S. Anne. The assistant points out the S.S. Anne floating in the harbor and says the festivities start there the next morning, so she should look around the city for the rest of the day. Stephanie does that, looking at the Pokemon fan club in town. That night Stephanie looks through her Pokedex’s files and learns that Conan can evolve into his final form if he is exposed to a Moon Stone, which Stephanie got at Mt. Moon. She looks at Conan as he sleeps and decides to wait until she’s comfortable with it.

We then see a suspicious man in the city walking into a house, which we discover is a Team Rocket hideout. Saturn is there and he is organizing plans for what appears to be a raid on the S.S. Anne to steal a bunch of Pokemon. Another person arrives and we learn he is Mr. Apollo (Sewell) and he is higher-ranked than Saturn. Apollo tells Saturn that the boss is still annoyed at the Mt. Moon operation being cut short, which is why he’s assigned Saturn to this job to redeem himself. Saturn asks how the other plans are going and Apollo only says that the one shipment Saturn sent from Mt. Moon is proving useful. Saturn assures Apollo that he won’t mess this operation up.

The next day Stephanie travels to the harbor and takes a ferry to the S.S. Anne. Lots of different events are being held on the ship for visiting trainers to see, one of which is a talk hosted by Lt. Surge, who gives training tips while demonstrating the power of his Raichu. Brock and Misty also host a seminar about type advantages, using Misty’s Staryu and Brock’s Geodude. Eventually, Stephanie bumps into Gary, who demands the battle Stephanie promised. Stephanie sighs and agrees, and they use one of the battle rooms on the ship. The only change in Gary’s team is that his Abra has evolved into a Kadabra. The battle starts with Gary using his Pidgeotto and Stephanie using Conan. The Pidgeotto is faster and gets in some hits, but Conan is able to time a tackle perfectly that knocks it out. Gary then sends in his Sandshrew, which gets the edge on Conan, so Stephanie switches him out for Selene, who though weaker, is much faster and easily flies out of the way of attacks and uses a confusion ray to dazzle the Sandshrew and make it stumble around comically until it walks into a wall and knocks itself out. Gary is frustrated and sends out his Kadabra, so Stephanie switches out Selene for Houdini. We get a Psychic Pokemon standoff with each using Psychic moves to daze and confuse the other, and eventually Kadabra wins, staring down Houdini until Houdini falls asleep. Gary shouts in triumph and after some thought Stephanie sends out Spike. Gary laughs at using a Beedrill, which is weak against most evolved Pokemon. Stephanie reminds him that Bug Pokemon have the advantage against Psychic ones, just as Spike avoids a psybeam and jabs Kadabra with its stingers, knocking it out. Gary is annoyed again and sends out his Eevee, which kicks up a dust cloud to hide its movements and is able to surprise Spike and tackle it.  Spike now defeated, Stephanie sends out Silva, who is somewhat blinded by the dust cloud and swings around with its vines to nab the Eevee, but Eevee is quick and dodges and sneaks in a couple light tackles. Gary is confident, but Stephanie orders Silva to fire leaves in all directions and it does so, and a couple are able to hit Eevee in the cloud and knock it out. Stephanie has won. Gary recalls his Pokemon and is frustrated that he lost again and storms out. Stephanie follows, telling him to stop being such an idiot about losing. Gary, a little upset, says that everyone expects him to be great, his grandfather is the most famous Pokemon researcher in the world, his parents were both top-level trainers who almost beat the Pokemon League. Stephanie, realizing she shouldn’t be confrontational, reminds him that they’re both just 15 and have a long time to prove themselves. Gary calms down and apologizes for being a jerk. Leaning over a rail, he says he sometimes feels like he can never live up to the rest of his family because of all they accomplished. Stephanie puts a friendly hand on his shoulder and says he doesn’t have to do the things his parents and Prof Oak have done in order to live up to them. This cheers Gary up and he thanks Stephanie for being a friend. The two decide to go see what else is going on in the S.S. Anne, their revitalized Pokemon allowed to go explore on their own.

As Stephanie, Gary, and their Pokemon explore the ship, we see Saturn and his men infiltrating the ship. Saturn says the key is to separate Lt. Surge and the experienced trainers from the rest of the ship, so they can grab the Pokemon of lesser trainers. Stephanie and Gary meet up with Oak’s research assistant, who has just given a lecture and is doing some sightseeing of his own. They talk about all the exciting things on the ship and then suddenly they hear a boom and Team Rocket members burst into the main convention hall on the ship, using Pokemon to collapse some walls to block some areas off. We see Brock and Misty fending off several Rockets in one section of the ship.  Stephanie, Gary, and the assistant run away to a different part of the ship where they see the Rockets trying to steal as many Pokemon as they can. Stephanie says they have to help stop them but Gary, who had boasted he could fight Team Rocket before, is now unsure, his loss against Stephanie making him second-guess his Pokemon’s abilities. Stephanie convinces him to help. Meanwhile Lt. Surge tries to fight against the Rockets with his Raichu and takes down several, but Saturn sends out a Weezing and orders it to use “self-destruct.” The result is a big explosion that injures both Surge and his Raichu and causes a section of the S.S. Anne to collapse to block off that area. However it also causes some damage to lower bits of the ship that cause it to start flooding.

As Oak’s assistant helps guide people to lifeboats they can use to get away from the ship, Stephanie and Gary rush forward to fight the Rockets. The Rockets’ Pokemon are mainly a mix of Normal, Poison, and Ground types. Stephanie and Gary use their Pokemon to defeat some of the Rockets. We see that Misty and Brock have beaten back the Rockets they were facing and are now helping trainers evacuate. Meanwhile, Surge and his Raichu have managed to climb up to the top deck and cross over to the rest of the ship and drop down into the main area to fight the Rockets. They pummel some, but then Saturn shows up again and sends out a Hypno, Drowzee’s evolution, and has it use a barrier move that reflects a thunderbolt from the Raichu back towards it and the blast knocks both Raichu and Surge out cold and also rocks the ship, exacerbating its flooding issues. Stephanie tells Gary to help Surge to one of the boats and he does so as she confronts Saturn. Saturn laughs at being challenged by a girl and uses his Hypno and an Arbok to attack. Stephanie sends out Silva and Conan and also sends out Selene and Spike to help guide people towards the exits. Silva and Conan are able to work together to take down the Hypno, but Saturn’s Arbok is very strong and injures Silva. At that point the S.S. Anne suddenly lists to the side, throwing people and Pokemon around as the ship becomes in danger of sinking. Gary has gotten Surge to a lifeboat and is told to get onboard by Oak’s assistant, though Gary complains that Stephanie is still onboard. Brock and Misty are there and Misty says she will go back and tells Brock to get Surge and the others to safety.

In the mess, Stephanie’s pack opens and the Moon Stone spills out onto the floor. Conan tries to fight against the Arbok but is overmatched and Saturn tells Stephanie that her Pokemon have some fight in them, so he’ll take them from her. Stephanie is afraid, but Silva, barely conscious, sees the Moon Stone, grabs it with a vine, and flings it to Conan, who catches it in his mouth. A bright light envelops Conan and he morphs into his species’ final form: Nidoking, a very powerful Pokemon. Conan, energized by the evolution and now much stronger, fights back against the Arbok with some punches and kicks and takes it down. Saturn, losing, decides to run for it and Stephanie lets him go since she has to get off the ship too.

Stephanie tries to make her way towards the lifeboats but the S.S. Anne is now sinking and there is little time, with many people jumping overboard in life preservers as boats from the harbor show up to try and pick up people. Stephanie sends Leviathan into the water and, since it is a good swimmer, tells him to help people get to the rescue boats. Leviathan does that, taking one person at a time to a waiting boat, exerting a lot as it does so. Meanwhile Selene and Spike reappear, having helped many people get to the lifeboats, and Stephanie, recalling Silva and Conan into their Pokeballs, orders Selene and Spike to carry her Pokeballs and backpack to shore to stay safe. Spike grabs the Pokeball belt and backpack and flies off, but Selene is hesitant to leave Stephanie so Stephanie assures her that she’ll be alright. Selene then flies to catch up with Spike and Stephanie grabs a life-jacket and jumps into the water. As she swims, she sees that Saturn and some Rockets have managed to get into a lifeboat with several bags full of stolen Pokeballs. Leviathan shows up and Stephanie grabs onto him so Leviathan can lead her towards the Rockets’ boat. Stephanie notices that Leviathan looks strained and exhausted and says they can stop but Leviathan keeps on chugging along. They reach Saturn’s boat and Stephanie tells him to stop. Saturn laughs and says a girl a stupid fish can’t stop him and his men. One of the Rockets uses a Voltorb to shock the water, injuring Stephanie and Leviathan and making them sink below the surface. Leviathan starts twitching, its strain reaching the breaking point… and it evolves. Suddenly the water around Saturn’s boat is filled with bright light and a low roaring noise is heard that grows louder and louder until suddenly a massive shape breaks through the bottom of the lifeboat, shattering it and throwing the Rockets into the harbor. Leviathan has evolved into a Gyarados. Stephanie meanwhile is half-conscious, slowly sinking, until she see a shape approach her: It is Misty, holding onto her Starmie. Stephane grabs onto Misty’s hand and is pulled up to the surface, where a concerned Leviathan comes over and lets Stephanie and Misty climb up. As they sit on Leviathan, they see the Rockets in the water surrender as police boats arrive.

Leviathan carries Stephanie and Misty to shore as things settle down. Spike and Selene find her and return her things and she lets all her Pokemon out to congratulate them on being so helpful. Misty says what Stephanie did was foolish and desperate, and also brave and courageous, qualities any Pokemon trainer would be proud to have. Gary and Oak’s assistant show up on the beach and are glad she’s all right. There’s an awkward moment where Gary and Stephanie almost hug, but instead Gary says Stephanie did a good job and she’s the better trainer, for now. Stephanie asks if everyone is ok, and the assistant says that everyone got off the S.S. Anne safely (we see it is partially sunk) with their Pokemon. Brock then shows up, helping Surge walk over to the group. Brock tells Stephanie and Gary that it’s doubtful things would have gone as well as they did without the two of them onboard. Surge, bruised but otherwise fine, tells Stephanie and Gary that they distinguished themselves far more than any gym battle could and awards them badges for his gym, but says he hopes one day they show up for a proper battle. Stephanie and Gary say that he can count on it.

Later that day, Stephanie has her Pokemon resting at the Pokemon Center. Gary shows up and says he is going to continue on his journey and says that the third time will be the charm for him in battling her. Stephanie smiles and says he can go on thinking that. Gary waves goodbye and leaves. Stephanie then video-calls home to talk to her Mom, who heard about everything from Professor Oak. Her mom is relieved that she is okay and says that when she first heard about the incident she was terrified. Stephanie says that she’s fine and that her Pokemon are great also. Her mom knows this, but after a deep breath, her mom says “I never told you why I stopped being a Pokemon trainer, and after today you should know.” Her mom explains that a bad accident happened one day to her first Pokemon and it didn’t recover. After that incident the mom couldn’t bear to train her other Pokemon anymore and released them to a special reserve where they could live in safety. Stephanie is saddened by the story and her mom says that she just wants Stephanie to know that bad things sometimes happen, and that it’s okay to “feel” them. Stephanie  understands and says she’s realizing just how much growing up there still is to come.

In a police station, Saturn is locked up with his men and is brooding. He is taken to an interrogation room where Surge and Oak’s assistant sit. We see Misty and Brock watching from behind a two-way mirror. Surge tells Saturn that they have a lot of questions about Team Rocket and Saturn, smirking, says he only knows a little bit and that even if he could tell them all they wanted, they can’t stop Team Rocket’s plans. “But,” Saturn adds, “I don’t like jail, so ask away and I’ll say what I can.”

Stephanie sits on the Vermillion City beach the following morning, letting her Pokemon play in the surf as she thinks about everything that’s happened. Misty comes over and asks how she’s doing. Stephanie says she’s doing ok and says “You know what you said, about the wakeup call? I think yesterday I had mine.” Misty nods and relates her own “wakeup call” story and says the most important thing is how you recover from it. She says she thinks Stephanie will do just fine. She tells Stephanie to drop by Cerulean anytime.

After Misty leaves, Silva comes and sits with Stephanie and they look out at the ocean. Stephanie talks to Silva (as a way of expressing her thoughts), saying that she doesn’t want to put her Pokemon into danger if she doesn’t have to. Silva nods and taps her on the shoulder with a vine to get her to look at her other Pokemon, who are enjoying themselves. Stephanie smiles and says Silva’s right, she won’t fail them.

Back in Pallet Town, Professor Oak and Bill have another video conference. Oak tells Bill that his assistant and the gym leaders have learned that Team Rocket has some operation going on in Cinnabar Island to the South. Bill says that’s Blaine’s jurisdiction so only he can act on it, but the gym leaders here are uncertain whether Blaine can handle it. Oak simply says that Blaine has become “unreliable.” Oak also reveals that Team Rocket is using reanimation techniques on the fossils they took from Mt. Moon, but that is just a first step in a plan for genetic research. Bill is afraid to know what they plan to use that research for and Oak replies “me too.”

Sitting in an office, dressed in a business suit, Apollo makes a phone call. The voice on the other end is garbled but we can tell it is “the boss.” Apollo says that with Saturn arrested, the Cinnabar operation may be compromised, but the boss tells him that the operation there is secure. The boss then asks about how “Phase 2” is going. Apollo says that it is still developing, but the pieces will soon be in place. The boss is pleased and tells Apollo that soon Team Rocket will move beyond petty criminal acts into real domination. Apollo agrees and says “Mr. Giovanni, our time has come.” Apollo hangs up and reclines in his chair, and the camera zooms out from a shot of his window to reveal he is in a big office building that has the logo “SILPH CO.”

The movie opens with a car driving down a road at night. Suddenly a truck in the other lane veers off into the lane with the car. They collide. The car is hurtled into a nearby ditch and lays there in a mass on burning metal. Soon the area is surrounded by police cars and ambulances.

Sam’s voice narrates with flashbacks, “Before my parents were killed by a drunk truck driver I had a perfect life. A great dad and loving mom, lots of friends, and a beautiful girlfriend, Rachel however that all changed that night. After my parents died, I suffered from depression and alcohol problems. I felt like psychiatrists couldn’t help so I ditched therapy. All they wanted was to give me meds. Rachel and I were slowing drifting away because she couldn’t tolerate my problems. To make things worse almost all my friends ditched me except Michael who had been my friend since kindergarten. With high school coming to a close, the days ahead of me looked bleak and miserable. Narration ends.

The movie begins in the high school gym where we see Sam standing in the corner by himself drinking out of a bottle. Michael walks up to him and tells Sam that he should be enjoying himself and that he should stop drinking. Sam drunkenly asks Michael if he would be happy if he lost his parents. Michael says that Sam’s parents died a year ago and that Sam needs to get over with it and move on. He says that his parents would be upset to see Sam waste his life away. Sam doesn’t respond. Rachel walks up to Sam and grabs the bottle and smells it. She rolls her eyes and says that she can’t wait to tell her parents that her prom date was a solitary drunk all night. Sam says that he will dance with her. Rachel throws the bottle into Sam’s hand and says that she doesn’t want to dance and that she doesn’t want to see Sam again. She says that she and he are over. Sam is about to say something but she cuts him off. She says that she is sick of people gossiping and looking at her because she is dating him. She says that she is tired of his self-centered attitude and consent whinnying. Sam is about to say something again but Rachel says that she and he are over and she doesn’t want to hear anymore of it. She storms away. Michael looks at Sam and says that Sam needs to get a grip of his life. He says that Rachel needs him now and he needs her. Sam tells Michael to f*** off. Michael walks away. Sam mumbles to himself and grabs the bottle and drinks it down and leaves the gym. Outside we see a man following Sam. Sam looks at the man nervously and mumbles to himself that the man has been stalking him for the past few months. Sam cuts across some people’s yards and he finally loses the man. Sam walks up to his old and rundown apartment building. He enters into the apartment and shuts the door.

The movie moves ahead to graduation. At the ceremony Sam stands bored and dejected. To his great discomfort the man who has been stalking him is in the audience. After the ceremony, Michael tries to make conversation with Sam, but Sam shuts down on him. Michael confronts him in the parking lot and says that Sam was spoiled raw by his parents. Sam yells at Michael to shut up. Michael however keeps on going. Sam full of rage punches Michael. Michael grabs his nose, which is broken. Michael’s father runs over and asks what happened. Sam smacks Michael in the face again and says f*** him. Michael’s father yells at Sam to calm down or he will call the cops. Sam glares at Michael’s father. Sam turns around and storms off. As he walks through the school halls, he runs into the man. The man tells him he has something to tell Sam. Sam curiously looks at the man and asks him how he knows his name. The man says that he is Sam’s father, James Sanders. Sam harshly tells the man that his father is dead and that he (James) is not his father. James begs him to listen. Sam says that he will call the cops on James if he continues to follow and stalk him. James says fine but if Sam has any question he can find him and talk to him. Sam tells James that he is perfectly fine and he tells James to f*** off in one minute or he is going to call the cops. James turns and walks away. Sam breathes deeply, closing his eyes, and turns and walks quickly the other way.

Later that night, Sam is digging through some belongs of his parents. He spies a piece of paper laying at the bottom a box. He grabs it and reads. On February 23rd 1992, Abigail Hanson released parental claims to two month old Sam Hanson. Sam Hanson now known as Sam Lockwood is under legal guardianship of Jason and Ann Lockwood. Sam stares at the paper blankly. He drops the paper saying no, no, no. He grabs the box and hurls it across the room saying “why didn’t they tell me!!” After throwing stuff around, he collapses in a chair. He says that he has to find his real mother. He grabs Jason and Ann Lockwood’s things and throws them in a garbage bag saying that their deaths wasted his life and that he hates them because they didn’t tell him the truth. He walks over to the computer and searches for Abigail Hanson. After hours of searching he gives up. As he lies in bed he wonders how he could finds his real mother. Suddenly he remembers the man James the stalker guy. He had professed to be his father but why was his name not on the piece of paper? And why is his last name Sanders not Hanson? He says that he will find this James Sanders. Walking over to the computer he searches James Sanders. After getting the address, Sam heads over to James’s house.

When he arrives at James’s house, he rings the doorbell. James opens the door. He says that Sam must have had a question pretty quick. Sam fakes a smile. James says that Sam can come in. Sam asks James how he knows that James is not a freak. James walks back into the house and grabs a photo. He shows him the photo. It is of Sam as a baby and Abigail. Sam smiles. James says that Sam can keep it. Sam puts it in his pocket. James asks Sam why he can over. Sam says that he wants to find his birth mother Abigail. James sighs and says that she lives in an apartment on the west side of the town. Sam asks James why he is not on the paper and why he can Abigail don’t have the same last name. James says that he and Abigail were never married; they were just dating when they had Sam. Sam says that he will be leaving. James grabs Sam and says that his real mother told Mr. and Mrs. Lockwood that Sam was a curse on her life and that she never wanted to see Sam again. Sam asks if James wants to come with him tomorrow when he goes over there. James says that he can’t because of some complications between James and Abigail. Sam leaves.

The next day he decides to go to his real mother’s apartment to confront her. He walks up to the door and is about to knock. He says that he can’t do it and walks away. He continues to do this for several days. He also begins to connect with James slowly. We see them meet for coffee and hang out. We see Sam change. He stops drinking and smoking and has a more positive attitude. We see him look on James as a role model.

One day he is biking through a neighborhood when he runs into Michael. He bikes up to Michael and tells Michael that he is sorry what he did to Michael in the school parking lot. Michael says that Sam should start to learn to think twice about doing things. Sam says that he is over his “parent’s death”. Michael looks at Sam and asks why he did the “” thing. Sam says that he needs to tell Michael something. Sam and Michael go up in the treehouse they use to hang out in when they were little. Sam tells Michael everything. Michael sits in shock and then says that Sam should go and confront his real mother. Sam says that he just can’t. Michael says that they will go right now. Sam says no but is dragged by Michael. As they are about to knock on the door it swings opening and Abigail stands in the doorway smoking a cigarette. She asks what Sam’s problem is. She tells Michael that he comes up to her door every day and is about to knock and then goes away. She says that she doesn’t think their prank is funny anymore. Sam says, “Mom” Abigail looks at Sam and says, “What??!! Excuse me!” Sam says that he knows and that she knows what they are talking about. Abigail swears and then says that she never had any children. Sam says that she is lying and that he is her child Sam Hanson. Abigail drops her cigarette and stomps on it. She looks into Sam’s face and says that she knows who he is and that she doesn’t love him and that she is glad she got rid of him. She says that he was a disgrace to her and an illegitimate child. She angrily slams the door shut.

Sam looks at Michael and says that that went very well. Sam gets into his car. Michael asks where Sam is going. Sam says that he is going for a ride to drive off his frustration. Michael says that he will go with him. Sam rants angrily while he drives. He is speeding down the road. Michael tells him he should drive slower but Sam ignores him. Ahead we see a light turn red. We then see Sam’s car gaining speed 50mph, 75mph, 85 mph and finally 100mph. Sam’s car flies toward the red light. Michael is yelling at Sam to slow down and stop. Sam drops the windows and yells that he can’t hear Michael. Suddenly a semi pulls into the intersection. Sam’s car speeds toward it. Michael screams at Sam. Sam tries to swerve but crashes into the trailer of the semi. The car is crushed to bits. Cars swerve all over the place. The semi driver leaps out of the cab and calls 911. When the ambulance arrives we see them place a body in the body bag. Another body is placed in the ambulance which speeds off to the hospital. At the hospital we see Sam wakes up. He asks the nurse if Michael is ok. The nurse looks at Sam and says that he was lucky but his friend, Michael was not so lucky. Sam lies down in complete shock. He is too shocked to cry. He tells himself that it is only a dream and that he will wake up. He stares blankly out the window. It is cloudy and rainy. He closes his eyes.

Three days later we see him standing in the funeral home. Michael’s parents and family ignore his presence. Sam wants to run away but he knows that he must stay and torture himself for killing his friend. He looks and sees Rachel standing across the room. She looks at him and shakes her head. Sam shouts “Rachel, please!” as he walks toward her but she walks into the bathroom crying. Sam stands alone and rejected. At Michael’s grave when all the other people have left, Sam says that he didn’t mean to kill Michael. He asks Michael to forgive him. He tells Michael that he will never drink again. He breaks down and cries.

The movie moves to Rachel’s house. She is looking at a photo of her and Sam. She then asks her mom if she broke up with someone she loved and then still felt strong feeling for that person should she go back after that person. Rachel’s mom says yes she should. Rachel says that she saw Sam today at the funeral and that he looks like he needs someone. She says that she could tell that he was changed. Rachel’s mom interrupts and says that Rachel needs to stay away from Sam. Rachel yells at her mom that she still loves him. She says that she has basically no time in this life left and that she wants to be with Sam. She says that she doesn’t want to die alone of cancer. She says that she knows Sam will be devastated after her death and he will probably do foolish things because of it. She says that she needs to make sure Sam is ok before she dies. She falling onto the couch and breathes heavily. Rachel says she can’t stop hiding the fact she has cancer. Mrs. Smith says that Rachel has had a long day at the hospital and needs to get some rest for the summer graduate party tomorrow. Rachel weakly goes to her room.

The movie moves to the school’s summer graduate party. We see Sam standing around obviously not enjoying himself. We see people looking at him and avoiding talking to him. Rachel walks up to Sam. She says that people aren’t talking to her either. Sam says welcome to his life. Rachel smiles. She and Sam go sit in a gazebo and talk. Sam says that he is sorry that he neglected her. Rachel says that she can’t get over him and she wants to be with him. She said that she doesn’t want to be alone. She kisses Sam. Her and Sam begin to kiss passionately. Rachel says that they can go to her house. At Rachel’s house they begin to have sex. A few minutes later Rachel says that she is getting tired. Sam says asks her what is going on. Rachel says that she just ate something funny. Sam nods.

That same night we see James at Abigail’s apartment. He says that she needs to stop pushing Sam away from her. Abigail says that she doesn’t want Sam because every time she sees him she thinks of James. James says that Sam needs her and she needs him. Abigail tells James that because of him she had to give Sam up and he isn’t going to tell her what she needs to do. James says that he was young and stupid and that he has changed from then. Abigail says that she doesn’t believe and that she wants him to stay away from Sam because she has watched Sam. She says that he looks up to James and he tries to copy what James does. She says that she can’t tolerate that. James says that he can’t just leave Sam. Abigail says that then she will never see Sam again. James pleads with her not to be difficult. Abigail says that how does she know that James while have a bad day and then take all his anger out on Sam by physically attacking him. She says that he is a dangerous and moody man. James opens the door to leave and says that he will stay out of Sam’s life forever only if she accepts him. He leaves Abigail upset and tired. She sits down in the couch and closes her eyes. In a flashback of her life, we see her and James fighting. We see James throwing stuff around the room in a rage. We see him grab Abigail and hit her abusively. He throws her on the ground and kicks her. We see baby Sam sitting at the table watching. He starts to cry. James walks over and grabs Sam. He tells Abigail that he is going to end their problems forever. He pulls out a knife. The bruised only eighteen year-old Abigail screams no and grabs Sam from James and dashes outside. We see Mr. and Mrs. Lockwood who live across the street standing outside. Abigail burst out door. She in desperation runs up to Mr. and Mrs. Lockwood and pleads with them to take the baby. Mr. and Mrs. Lockwood stand in shock. The hear James raging inside the house. Abigail between sobs begs them to take Sam before James hurts or kills him. Mr. Lockwood seeing the bruises and cuts on Abigail, says that he will call the police. Mrs. Lockwood walks Abigail into the house. The police come and arrest James. Abigail is deeply touched by Mr. and Mrs. Lockwood. The days blur. We see Abigail tearfully giving up Sam to Mr. and Mrs. Lockwood. She tells Mr. and Mrs. Lockwood to always love and care for Sam. The flashback begins to blur. Abigail awakens from her sleep.

Over the next few days we see Abigail struggling with emotions as she decides reconcile with Sam. Sam and Rachel grow deeper in their love for one and other. We see Rachel getting more and more frailer. Sam continues to question but she tells him that it is ok. One night after hanging out with Sam. Rachel passes out on her bedroom. Mrs. Smith comes home and walks into Rachel’s room. She sees Rachel passed out on the bed. She shakes Rachel but she doesn’t respond. In panic she calls 911. We see the ambulance take Rachel to the hospital.

The next day as he is walking from the store he runs into Abigail. She stops him. He asks her what she wants. She says that she wants him to come over tonight and talk. He says that he will not come over. She says that she can explain things to him and that she wants to have him back again. He says that he is not a toy that you give to loan to people for awhile and then decide to have it back. Abigail is silent. She then says that all people make mistakes and have to live with their guilt. She tells him that she cries for what she did. She says that she regrets what she did. She turns and walks away. Sam stands quietly. That night we see Sam walking to Abigail’s apartment. He knocks on her door. She opens it and says that she knew that he would come. Sam asks her what she has to say. She says that she was 18 when she had Sam. Sam’s father was a drunkard and an abusive man. She said that he was a threat to Sam’s life and she had to get him (Sam) away from his father. She said that she thought it was best if she gave Sam to a loving family that could take care of him. She says that it was difficult to give him up but she had to do it for his good. She says that she gave him to a family in the same city so she could watch him grow up. She says that she loves him and has always loved him. She says that she doesn’t want Sam to feel hate toward his dead parents. She says that they loved him greatly. Sam says that he forgives her. They hug.

The next day Abigail is helping Sam clean up his apartment. His cell phone rings. He picks it up. It is Mrs. Smith. She says that Sam has to come to the hospital and that it is about Rachel. Sam asks her what happened. Mrs. Smith says that Rachel is dying of cancer. Sam says what. Mrs. Smith asks if Rachel told him. He says no. She says that Rachel has been sick awhile with cancer and doctors can’t do anything about it. She says that the cancer has spread rapidly over the past month and the Rachel will probably die soon. Sam tells Abigail that he needs to get to the hospital. He tells her everything on the way. He says that he wasted his life and didn’t get time to spend with her after his parents died. Sam says that he is so ashamed of his past and that he doesn’t want to go. Abigail says that he has to go and make up with her. When they arrive at the hospital, Abigail says that she will pick him up in a few hours. Sam knocks on the door of her room. Rachel asks him to come in. Sam walks in. Rachel looks up in shock to see him. He tells her that he can go if she doesn’t want to see him. Rachel says no and that she wants see him. Sam asks where her mom is. Rachel says that she is talking to the doctor. Sam says that he is sorry for all he did to her. He says that he feels really bad that beat her after the summer party. Rachel says that she forgives him and that the past is past and forgotten. She says that she still loves him. She suddenly breaks down and starts to cry. She says that she is scared to die. Sam hugs Rachel and says that he will be with her though it all. Rachel smiles and wipes away her tears. The sit and hug. Rachel asks Sam if he remembers their first date. Sam laughs. We see them sitting together laughing and talking about old memories. Sam also tells Rachel about his parental troubles. As the night progresses, they grow quiet. Rachel says that she is tired. Sam says he can go but Rachel says she wants him to stay. As Rachel sleeps, Sam holds her frail hand and he closes his eyes. The audience only can hear the sound of the machines running. Suddenly, Rachel’s hand slips from Sam’s. We see the heart monitor go flat. Sam’s eyes fly open. Rachel lays quiet on the bed. A nurse in the room shouts for help. Sam begins to cry. Sam is pulled back from Rachel by several nurses. Sam falls into a chair outside the room and cries. We see images flashing of Sam’s past life with Rachel and images of the doctors trying to save her mixed in. Several minutes later, the doctor approaches Mrs. Smith and Sam, he says that she has passed away. Mrs. Smith bursts into a fresh flow of tears and she and Sam hug and cries.

Four days later Sam is standing at Rachel’s grave alone. Her grave sits next to Michael’s. Sam says that he wasted his life and didn’t focus on the really people that loved him. He says that he will live eternally with his consequences of his life but he has learned and will never go back to the old him. He says that he misses Rachel and Michael and that he will never forget himself for what he did to them. He says that they were his best and true friends. He says that Abigail will not reclaim him as her son but will be highly involved with her son’s future life. Sam says that he looks forward to his life ahead but he says he feels undeserving of it. He says suffering has been stronger than all other teaching. . . . I have been bent and broken, but—I hope—into a better shape.

He still mourns her death.  During the film, James struggles with his feelings toward religion and the death of his wife. He suddenly one day receives a phone call from the Vatican who says that two cardinals were brutally killed by a secret organization known as the “Scientia”. This group has discovered a drug that can “kill” a person for several minutes and allow them to see if there is an actual heaven and hell on the other side. James is briefed on the history of this group and discovers that in the 1800’s the group tried to take down the Church but after a unification of the Orthodox, Catholic, Protestant, and Mormon churches they were defeated. The group is led by Peter Haines who sees this drug as an opportunity to defeat Christianity once and for all. He learns that the group plans to literally destroy the major centers of the Christian faith by Easter, which is a week away. On Easter Day, they plan to tell the world that Christianity is a lie by using the drug. James is assigned to work with Alice Jacobson and Eric Davis. Alice Jacobson is an FBI agent and Eric Davis is a young priest who has studied the “Scientia” and other cults for several years. They have to race against time to find out where, when, and how this group plans to destroy the centers of each Christian division. After searching and get a few suspects, they discover that the group plans on destroying first the Mormon Temple in Salt Lake City. James, Alice, and Eric quickly alert the officials and fly to Salt Lake City. When they arrive, the building has been cleared. Eric however notices a man in the crowd with the “Scientia” symbol tattooed on his hand. Eric alerts Alice and they chase the man. Suddenly, they hear a boom and the ground shakes. The massive Mormon Temple begins to crash to the ground. Eric stands petrified and stares. Alice looks and continues to chase the man. James intervenes and grabs the man. They take him away. The entire city is in a panic. Mormons begin to fear that persecution from the US government is re-happening like in the 1800’s. The city is filled with angry and fearful riots. After interrogating the man, James, Eric, and Alice learn the next location is Lakewood Church, which has been deemed the center of the Protestant faith. However it is too late, the mega-church is destroyed and over 25,000 thousand people perish in the attack. This horrific tragedy horrifies the team and hurts their morale. They are called back to Rome where they meet with the top leaders of the Christian faith. The leaders tell them that the entire Christian world is in full panic and rumors are spreading that this is the end times. Eric tells them that he thinks the “Scientia” group is attacking the Christian church from the smallest denominations to the largest. He says that would make the Orthodox Church next. He tells them that they must evacuate The Church of St. George in Istanbul, which is the center of the Orthodox faith immediately. The church is evacuated and put on lockdown. The attacker is captured and brought to Rome. The attacker tells them that they can’t stop what will happen. He says the group has infiltrated the Vatican and they will not only bring down the church physically but psychologically. He tells them that Christianity will be proven for once and all as a false religion. He tells them that the Vatican will fall and then Heaven will be next. Later the next night, a priest who is revealed to be part of the “Scientia” murders the Pope. The priest kills himself. The Orthodox, Protestant, and Mormon leaders panic and the Catholic Church is sent into confusion. Riots begin to erupt around the world. Government centers are stormed, as many Christians believe that this is the government’s doing. Muslims begin to worry and join the side of many Christians in the riots and protests. James meets with the leaders. He tells them that he has clues on where the “Scientia” are planning on conducting the drug. He says he will stop them if and only if they can control their followers and tell them what is actually going on. The aged Ecumenical Patriarch of the Orthodox faith rises and says he will. He immediately is broadcasted worldwide and tells the world what is going on and that they will stop the group of destroying the Christian faith. Meanwhile, James, Eric, and Alice head to the secret location where after a fight, they stop they stop the group. James says that he will destroy the drug and capture Peter Haines. Alice and Eric leave him. James enters the room with Peter. After talking, Peter shots at James wounding him. James and Peter fight in which Peter is mortally wounded. The Twenty-One Balloons (3D)

Date- February 16th

Genre- CGI Animation

Rating- PG- mild action and humor

Theaters- 3,970 theaters

Budget- 75 million

Running Time- 90 minutes or 1 hour and 30 minutes

Studio- O$corp Pictures

Director- Peter Sohn

Actors and Actress-

Sherman - Matthew McConaughey

Mr. F - Seth MacFarlane

Plot: The film begins with the rescue of Professor William Waterman Sherman being rescued by a steamship. He was adrift in the North Atlantic after his giant air balloon made up of twenty balloons crashed. He arrives in New York City and we learn the world has been waiting to hear from him. Sherman, a recently retired schoolteacher, was last seen three weeks ago leaving San Francisco on a giant balloon, determined to spend a year drifting alone. The world waits breathlessly to find out how Sherman could have circumnavigated the globe in record time and landed in the ocean with twenty balloons rather than the single one with which he began his journey.

After several days' rest and a hero's welcome, the professor recounts his journey before a captivated audience. Sherman's flight over the Pacific Ocean was uneventful until an unfortunate accident involving a seagull forced him to crash land on the volcanic island of Krakatoa. He discovers that the island is populated by twenty families sharing the wealth of a secret diamond mine, the richest in the world which they operate as a cartel. Each year, the families sail to the outside world with a small amount of diamonds, to purchase supplies for the hidden and sophisticated civilization they have built on the island. Each family has been assigned one of the first twenty letters of the alphabet, and lives in its own whimsical and elaborate house that also serves as a restaurant.

The Krakatoan society follows a calendar with twenty-day months. On "A" Day of each month, everyone eats in Mr. and Mrs. A's American restaurant; on "B" Day, in Mr. and Mrs. B's British chop house; on "C" Day, in Mr. and Mrs. C's Chinese restaurant; on "D" Day, in Mr. and Mrs. D's Dutch restaurant, and so forth. Sherman's first friend on the island, Mr. F, runs a French restaurant containing a replica of the Hall of Mirrors. The houses are full of incredible items, such as Mr. M's Mexican house, which has a living room with mobile furniture that operate like bumper cars. The children of the island invented their own form of amusement that combines elements from merry-go-round and balloon travel. Sherman’s time on the island is filled with great fun and adventure. These very different cultures live in peace and harmony together and because of this, science is extremely advanced.

Suddenly one day a major earthquake shakes the island. The volcano on Krakatoa erupts as a result. The families and Sherman escape on a platform held aloft by twenty balloons. The escape is harrowing and they barely make it out.

As the platform drifts westward around the world, the families parachute off to India, China, and Europe to start their new lives. Sherman remains on the platform and finally descends onto the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, where he is rescued. The film concludes with the audience giving Sherman a standing ovation and he becomes an American legend.

Rise of the Dead

Genre- Zombie Horror/Action

Rating- R

Theaters- 3,402 theaters

Budget- 90 million

Running Time- 101 minutes or 1 hours and 41 minutes

Studio- O$corp Productions

Director- Roland Emmerich

Cast: Dr. Robert Twombly: Nicholas Hoult

(There are massive visual shots of the global zombie take over thus a higher budget but more epic feel and picture)

Plot:

Spoiler

A short prologue explains the notes and images being shown. They were those of a young scientist named Dr. Robert Twombly and were found in a remote cabin in the township of Churchill, Manitoba. The notes detail an individual account of survival and escape after a mass-scale zombie outbreak, referred to as a ‘Necrotic Infection’, beginning around January 23, 2019 and lasting for approximately one year.

Rise of the Dead

Dr. Twombly, a haematology and oncology specialist in Seattle, Washington decides to keep a journal detailing events from January 1 until April 5, 2019. We see that he writes about his discoveries in science and life. However on January 23 a pandemic of unknown cause overwhelms the entire city and much of the world beyond. The people in Seattle beginning to panic and sack stores and chaos prevails. Panic over a technological collapse makes things worse. Before the internet shut down, headlines referring to a sudden, critical infection affecting thousands worldwide show the scale of the unfolding catastrophe, destroying commerce and limiting travel. We see this catastrophe occur. Death sweeps the globe. The Vatican is sacked and destroyed, the Statue of Liberty collapses under the weight of zombies climbing it, London, Paris, Moscow, African slums, and Asian overpopulated cities are all seen being taken over by the undead. We even see Mecca with thousands of believers being attacked and destroyed. Technology collapses and the world goes dark. Twombly takes shelter in his brick fortified building complex. The secure building is beleaguered by thousands, however soon most begin to show identical symptoms of an unknown, seemingly undetectable pathogen. As the sick begin to die they quickly reanimate, walking slowly, attempting to devour those around them still alive, and –to varying extents  exhibiting some behavior of their previous existences (one bashes a vending machine as he did when he was alive, and later a married couple – now zombies – hold hands as they walk). Capturing a few, Twombly and other scientists run tests on the zombies. While tests confirm that the reanimated ‘zombies’ are clinically-dead, they discover the limitations and strengths of the undead. Meeting other survivors, and after witnessing an infection and reanimation first-hand, Twombly makes his way northward. People start dying not because of zombies but because they don't know how to live without technology. Twombly despite the challenges decides to investigate the cause of the apocalypse. His initial suspicions relating to a new GM food additive made by chemical company Primodyne are explored, although evidence relating to its accumulated toxicity is inconclusive, although its sudden prevalence and bio-accumulative effect does provide a logical explanation for the speed of the global infection, as well as the infection occasionally affecting individuals who have not come into direct contact with the zombies. Twombly spends much time on a small, isolated bucolic inn called ‘the Farm’ with nineteen other survivors, although eventually he is forced to move even further northward after the Farm is overrun by zombies and burned down. Finally, he finds the town of Churchill, Manitoba where nobody has had any interaction with the infected. After several weeks the threat is apparently subsiding, with the town secure and partially fortified. On April 5, 2019, he writes that he thinks the world will be at peace soon. The zombies will die out and humans will once again take over the earth. He says that the town is secure and can last several years because on fishing and hunting. Man is learning to live without technology. As he closes his journal, we suddenly hear screams and guns shooting in the background. His face suddenly turns pale as he realizes what is happening. The camera zooms out over Churchill and we see a swarm of zombies heading through the main gate of the city.
